    Did Anyone Have A Leak?

Unless it's emitting puss, red or warm to the touch, ride it out. It took me about 3.5 weeks before I was completely pain free and the surgeon says that's about average.

    Here's One I Haven't Heard Yet

Nope. He is 14, not 4 months.

    Birth Control Post Surgery? Nuvaring?

    Just condoms and FAM.
  4. Firefox Ad Blocker application. I have never seen an ad on here at all. You have to be using Firefox though.

    Different Pre-Op Diet?

Yeah. Some doctors just require low-carb. Mine was just one week. Many doctors will go according to the patient's BMI.

Got Denied By Ins...need Loan Advise..

It's a credit card company. That's how they make money. People pay late....late penalty. People can't pay back within the interest-free period....interest starts. I'm willing to be that most people are not able to pay back within the interest-free period. And, I'm pretty certain the interest is sky high. Not be a downer but I've looked up this GE capital company and they don't have the best reviews in terms of customer relations. And yes, surgeons will charge cash patients less. Here, the bariatric surgeons are on television all the time giving their "special cash price."

How Do You Make The Time Go By?

In my case, I was given my date only two weeks ahead of time so that was a pretty short wait. Time is time. It won't go faster. Just ride it out. From my experience, the closer I got to the date, the faster time seemed to move.

    First Major Stall

    1. Resist temptation. 2. Increase your protein significantly. I'm not as far out as you but I went to the surgeon today and she said the reason I'm doing so well is because I'm taking in well over the minimum protein requirements.

    Colonic?

I haven't had one after surgery and I probably wouldn't. I came from my 7 week check-up about an hour ago and I was telling my doctor that I'm still having constipation issues. I tried Miralax and it worked temporarily. She suggested Benefiber as a mainstay because of all of the protein I have to take in but in the meantime, I've been drinking Smooth Move or just taking 4 Senna pills everyday.

Obviously, they haven't kept up with the research on their chosen method of WLS.

    Baby Food

I didn't have a pureed stage but what I did use baby food for was to lubricate coarse protein so it could go down easier. I got Gerber fruits and the upside is that there are no added sugars (about 95 calories/container) and since you only use it as a dip, you're not getting too much of a calorie hit.

Depending on how your 401K is set up, you still may have to pay back with interest. I wouldn't suggest touching the retirement account.

My surgeon has pamphlets about some kind of financing option through Chase medical division. Although, it being Chase, I doubt it's interest free.

    For Women Only....period

Well, the day of surgery I was at the tail end of my period. Then, the next period was extremely heavy the first two days and then mellowed for the next two but that cycle was only 26 days.Normally mine are 30 days. I did notice that my ovulatory pain is worse now. I've only had one since surgery (scheduled to start tomorrow). I haven't noticed any PMS symptoms but the water weight gain is still as bad as it was. Nothing emotional though.

    Approved Fed Bcbs!

My surgery was approved as a day surgery (24 hours in hospital) but the surgeon said that's just an insurance hoop. I stayed a couple of nights. Insurance hoop or not, I refused to let somebody cut the majority of my stomach off and send me home 24 hours later.
  17. It looks like you already know what the problem is. Lying around and feeling sorry for yourself certainly isn't going to help the weight come off. In fact, it'll make you more depressed. Compare the value of laying around and being non-compliant to doing what you need to do to reach your goals. Whichever is worth more to you (personal decision) is what you'll follow through with. In the words of Yoda, "Do or do not..."

    Embarrassing....

That's never happened to me but that's because I've never liked the concept of being looped at 100+mph. I got on one at age 8 and got off vomiting. You'd think that by now businesspeople would have the sense to put in a couple of rows with larger seats if only to up their bottom line.
  19. I think you should call them and ask.
  20. Today marks 7 weeks since I had my surgery. I did not weigh today because I have an appointment on Wednesday and will wait until then. I am still feeling great and have no complications to report. The first thing I want to make note of is post-exercise restriction. I have noticed that after exercise, it seems as if the sleeve constricts, as it is hard to even get a decent amount a water down within the 45 minutes (or so) following exercise. My concern is that water is so important before, during and after exercise and this issue temporarily hinders my ability to get in fluids when I need it most. I've noticed this over the past two weeks so I decided to wait until Wednesday to speak with my surgeon about it. In the meantime, the workaround that I use is to consume a sugar free Popsicle after working out simply for the sake of getting in some form of hydration until I can really drink water like I need to. I do not know why this happens to me but I can only guess that the muscle contractions that take place during and after exercise contribute to it. I do not do concentrated abdominal work but I do do work that use core muscles. I'll use that to segue into my next topic. I do not have a gym membership. I'm a very busy person and I hate traffic so at the end of the work day, I know that I will not go. I also refuse to wake up before the sun shines through my windows to work out so the gym is not an option for me. What has helped me more than anything is body weight exercises (squats, lunges, push-ups, etc), running and HIIT training. I also like using DVD's. For those of you who are like me (gym-avoidant), I thought I'd give a list of the DVD's I am currently using and that I like. They are: Lean Hot Body (Patrick Goudeau)- about an hour long and combines cardio and strength Peak 10 Cardio Strength (Michelle Dozois)- similar to Lean Hot Body but has levels that build into higher intensities Peak 10 Cardio Interval Burn (Michelle Dozois)- pure cardio Cross Fire (Cathe Friedrich)- HIIT that also uses weights Chiseled (Toby Massenburg)- strength training combined with high intensity cardio that involves a step bench I don't do these everyday. I like to mix it up, lest I get bored. However, I would highly recommend these videos because they are straightforward and non-cheesy. The next development is my use of almond milk. Let me just say that the transition to skim milk was very hard for me. I just don't believe in see-through milk. Further, the carb count of skim milk is not something that I am willing to acquiesce to at this point. This weekend, I started to miss my cappuccino so I had to try to come up with something that would do. At Whole Foods, I found some espresso and as I perused the diary section and could not find the low-carb milk I was used to so I took a chance and picked up some almond milk. I purchased the unsweetened vanilla variety that only has 40 calories for 8oz. and 2 grams of carbohydrates. Both of these figures have skim milk beat. I made a cappuccino with this milk and I must say, it was quite satisfactory. Almond milk smells wonderful and it's not see-through either. If you are lactose intolerant, this may be a viable option for you. I also used this milk when I made myself a hot chocolate using Ghirardelli's unsweetened cocoa powder (15 calories and 3 grams of carbs per serving). I know we are always told not to drink calories but the 55 calories in that cup of hot chocolate was so worth it. For the potato chip lovers, I also discovered that Whole Foods sells "chips" made only out of parmesan cheese. They come in 1 serving containers in the hot soup area. They are crispy like chips but only made out of parmesan cheese (I guess they bake them because they aren't oily). They are delicious and I ate them with my soup. Although they are only 1oz. servings, it took me a couple of days to eat them all. Anyway, that's all for now. Happy losing!

    Grrrr Stupid Jeans

You have to remember that clothing is made based on measurements, not weight. I'm sure you have friends that visually look a certain size and then when you find out what size they wear, you're surprised.
  22. Part 1: the baby is already here and the body needs time to settle in. Part 2: nobody is going to bust into someone's bedroom to interrupt unprotected sex. In other words: Waiting until 12 months post-partum is a requirement (in MA at least) and waiting to get pregnant afterwards is a recommendation.

    Pregnant After Vsg?

There have been people on here who have talked about getting pregnant after their surgery. Look in the ladies forum.

    Check!

A nurse should offer you a binder for that. If not, ask for one.
