    I LOVE chobani!!! I haven't tried that one (store doesn't have it) but I love the 0% & 2% strawberry, mango, and passion fruit ones!!! Nice find!!!

    Ladies, Tom Question!

    Lol @ angelbaby!!! I've put my poor hubby on a roller coaster of emotions the last couple of months! Screaming crying for no reason, then super affectionate clingy at random! The worst thing is it doesn't even seem to coincide with TOM! I'm finally thinking if giving up my beloved implanon to try the copper iud to see if the hormones settle down! Implanon is most effective BC of all but after 8 years I don't really know my body and the weight loss is making it all even more crazy!!! Lol Good luck all

    Advise Please!

    There's lots of fibre in fruit too of course veggies would be great but people tend to snack on fruit more easily than veggies and it satisfies those sweet cravings that carb addicts usually get coming down Also people can mistake veggies for potatoes and corn definitely not the best carb replacements!! Lol But, I must admit I'm a HUGE fan of raw broccoli!!!! Sometimes I boil a pot of Water and drop it in for 15 seconds to take the edge off in winter! It's a negative calorie food, in that your body uses more energy to digest it than it actually contains in kilo joules!
  5. Hi SST! I'm very excited for you! I just wanted to mention I found your post a little confusing just because you seem to refer to hormonal contraception as "traditional" and not condoms... I suppose you mean it's traditional for you. Anyway, I want to let you know that condoms have a 20% failure rate, especially if you are new to the technique! Trust me, size matters! If you truly want to switch to condoms I recommend a shot of depo provera to cover you for a couple of months. I am also about to come off the most effective form of BC- the implanon contraception implant -after almost 8 years (three insertions!) I will be trying the copper IUD because it has no hormones and a very low failure rate (just under female sterilisation!). I think an IUD may be very worth looking into as you are basically saving on 19% risk compared to condoms. You could also try diaphragm + condoms. Either way I'm in the same boat as you, desperate to have kids but don't want to add to risk of malnutrition etc by getting preggo first year post sleeve Good luck! God bless!
  6. I didn't make the decision on my own It was recommended to me by a doctor, I told this to my partner and started researching it. We have a lot of time to think about it together and get used to the idea. I don't think I'd do it if he was very against it- partly because he's paying and partly because I'm still young enough to wait. I know I'll need his support through it as I'm very far away from my family Anyway, point is it was a conversation for us, not a unilateral decision. good luck!

    Advise Please!

    Hi there! So have a look around and you will find a few threads like this Basically, there is no "normal"! Everybody is different! A few points to consider though: *starvation mode! At certain times of stress and/or rapid weight loss your body will stop burning fat and cling to it! It will take in everything you give it! This is a physiological response to famine. There are certain ways to break this, but usually you have to be patient and understanding of your body in this difficult time. It will pass on its own. This is usually why most people break their"diets", they are starving but stop seeing the scales move and get demotivated! Don't fall into this old habit! You're a new you!!! *everybody has different metabolism response. Some people respond ok to carbs, they have no affect on their weightloss but they find they get very fatigued if they don't incorporate enough. Some people seem to gain a pound if they nibble half a slice of bread!!! This can be corrected with the help of a nutritionist, but usually people just figure it out on their own. If you are diabetic you WILL find most carbs ruin any chance of weightloss and you should stick to only small amounts of fresh fruit as your carb source. *exercise. Now some people who are obese do A LOT of daily movement, known as incidental exercise. They work as laborers or nurses, running around all day. Their bodies are accustomed to this and they will need to add high cardio (usually in little jolts: ie running up a flight of stairs as fast as they can five times a day, doing twenty star jumps five times a day) to get their heart rate up high enough to burn fat. Some people are very sedentary and will find just walking around the block will get the sweat going. Just remember, unless your sweating you're not typically burning fat. So do a large amount of good easy exercise to build muscle (house work, work, walking, swimming etc) and then add a few sweat-inducing activities when you are comfortable. Good luck, trust in your sleeve, and remember that cheating is cheating on yourself only- be accountable to yourself and you will do fine!
  8. Thanks moregoodtimes! Great first post Your last note made me think: make sure if you are an organ donar to let your family/next of kin know. There can be trouble with this if someone gets too sentimental. Here in Aus I have a donar card in my wallet but I believe it can still be cancelled out by next of kin if they choose! Morbid, but just something to think about even if you aren't having surgery!

  10. I asked my mum and she had copper-7 iud in for four years and no issues at all! She's actually wondering why she didn't get it again when she was done! She went on pill and it caused a host of issues for her. In actually thinking (completely ignore my post above of switching to copper iud. This is after speaking to my mum and gyno- it's more effective than condoms at least! I will just cross my fingers for no miracles Hope all mums n bubs doing well!!!

    I think anything that has the potential to hurt your sleeve... for example eating solids too soon (or sooner than your doctor says). Other than that I think it is very personal and might take time to figure out even for yourself. I also think you know deep down if your cheating, your cheating on yourself. Usually no one else's business unless you choose public accountability... I look forward to reading everyone else's thoughts

  18. Ultimately, it's your choice. It's a matter of risk assessment. There are risks with this surgery, but there are risks if you remain overweight. You have to be sure you are committed to the program, even if you have no complications this surgery is just the beginning of your new life. It seems everyone has their doubts, I still have mine... But go back to the beginning and why you made this decision... Do you still feel the same?

    What's Worse?

    So, I suppose it depends how you look at it... *There can be more embarrassment returning to old friends having gained weight than facing the expectation of fatness and not disappointing ... But this same embarrassment can be caused by divorce, poor employment, baldness, and myriad other misfortunes and inadequacies. *getting thin after being fat all your life can make it hard when you realise your friends are not really good friends but the same can happen if you gain weight and find out your friends are superficial!!! *healthwise, I've struggled with mental issues more than physical but I've found that the newly fat tend to struggle more with their physical problems! They remember being pain free and not being so cumbersome... I'm kind of used to it and have developed mechanisms to deal with my obesity... I know my limitations and adjust accordingly... *confidence-wise: this all depends on the person and their own self-image... Anecdotes aside, there are newly-fat and long-term fat who struggle with confidence or who excel despite their appearance... This is a zero-sum point, I think. Finally, to my friends? I don't have a lot. The ones I did in high school knew me as a fairly fat kid who lost a lot of weight, got real sick, and then started putting a little back on... They might be surprised at how big I am but not that I'm big. My college friends mostly liked me for my personality but a few girls were very passively nasty! I'm not friends with them anymore... Another college friend has put on a lot of weight and feels terrible but is having trouble getting back on track. I do feel she would be a little jealous deep down if I were thinner than her, but its just because she feels bad about herself. I hope I could help her to tackle her weight issues but maybe setting an example is a good start. My partner met me fat, I met him slim, he's put on a bit of weight and his family are constantly judging him. The thing is why they feel ok to vocalise their thoughts to him, but not me? Although they all have a very very healthy routine, so I think it's more about his bad habits than his looks!! They actually see me as a little healthier than him because I'm more active... I think maybe having been thin then gained weight is worse in many ways, but the bullying through childhood (simply because of the weight) is worse!! But then this excludes people who were bullied and left out for other things... This is a real can of worms butterthebean!!!

  25. I was worried this might be the case. If so, you just have to work it your way! Find a routine you can stick to and realise "ok, I've damaged my body, now I have to accept my limitations"... It's kind of like how some people will have a lot of skin, or stretch marks, you will have a slow rate of loss, and you'll have to be careful about yo-yoing... I mean, if worst comes to worst and you stop too soon maybe adding the ds in a couple if years may be an option, but give it time, I have faith that your body and metabolism can still recover!
