My surgeon gave me medication to prevent blood clots. Just remember as soon as you wake up, attempt to walk a little with help and just keep walking as often as you can. It will definitely help prevent blood clots. I wish you all the best and a clot-free surgery. Let us know how it goes.

I'm 49 and just had surgery a couple of days ago and everything is going fine. I hope to be close to goal weight by the time I turn 50 in July.

Blood sugar high on Pre-op diet?
ISleevedIt replied to ashley18's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Unfortunately I have no experience with this, but I hope you get your answers from your primary. It's discouraging when you get the run around from your doctors. -
You're doing great. I think the best part is you realize what your bad aha moment is. By realizing it, you can then correct it. I have confidence that you will make your goal of losing 100 pounds in a year!

Going through a sensory memory lane
ISleevedIt replied to Susie1226's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I can definitely relate to you. I'm on my 4th day post-op and I've had two food dreams already. Not any specific food, but that I'm eating when I've just had surgery. Thankfully, I am not hungry at all and drink my Protein drinks because I know I need to keep my muscles intact. -
Hi, what is a good skin firming lotion? Also, did you wait til all the stitches heal up first?
-
I just finished my morning protein drink. It's the premier protein drink from costco and it's 11 oz. So I spent approximately one hour walking around the house and taking sips of the protein shake. Now that I'm finished, I've walked 5342 steps. My pedometer says I've burned 245 calories. The protein shake is 160 calories. So I know I've lost some weight there. While I'm home the next 4.5 weeks, I think I will keep up this routine for breakfast

hey, your doing great! Just keep that 15 pounds in mind and think about how much closer you are to your goal weight. hang in there, your day will be here before you know it.

it'll be here before you know it. Good luck with your journey!

Why Should i Get Sleeved?
ISleevedIt replied to lookingforwardtothin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I'm recently sleeved (last Thursday) and I'm feeling fine. Here's my first few days experience. I am able to get in 6-8 cups of fluids a day and am getting 60-80 grams of Protein a day. I can feel it when I take too big of a sip so I just make sure I slow down. As for pain, I feel it on my lower right abdomen. Of the 5 incisions I have, that is the only one that I feel and makes it kind of hard to find a good sleeping position, but I'm working it out with my stomach..lol I have NO regrets....well maybe one fleeting moment when i first woke from surgery and asked myself "what did I do to myself?" Once I became alert, I was glad I had the sleeve. I put that thought down to grogginess and the pain I felt before I got a dose of pain meds...by the way only one dose was all I needed...I have been told I have a high pain tolerance. I rather feel a little pain then have a foggy light headedness feeling. -
My understanding is 8oz is a serving...I add unflavored protein powder to my broth.

Why can't I find the phone number for Hosptial MI in Tijuana
ISleevedIt replied to Smartcook's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I've seen many people post about using Dr. Garcia through Ready4Change so I think it is legitimate. Check out the forum for self pay going to Mexico to be sleeved. Hope this is helpful. Good luck with your journey. -
Finding out what people really think...
ISleevedIt replied to feelbetter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I told my husband and 2 kids and they understood. I told one of my sisters and it's interesting how she tries to be understanding, but yet puts me down for no will power and she was the one I thought would not criticize and be supportive. On the other hand, I told my brother and thought he would criticize but he didnt and just said to let him know how it goes. You just never know with people. Only one person at work knows that I "may" need to have part of my stomach removed. Otherwise I'm just going to say dieting and watching what I eat. They've all seen me lose weight and gain it back. So hopefully the only difference will be that I am able to keep it of this time. -
Can anyone tell me how is the upper G.I. Test?
ISleevedIt replied to alobri's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Are you talking about the post-op upper gi? I had mine the day after surgery and it was some nasty bitter stuff that I had to drink...I thought I was going to upchuck it, but it stayed down. It helped that the doctor was able to distract me by explaining where the contrast was and where my stomach is. Also, my test was done standing up. I just had to turn around so he can see it from all angles. It was all complete in about 3 minutes. then they let me rinse my mouth out with water.....so happy for that....didn't like the fact that the first thing I taste after surgery is bitter stuff....lol -

ISleevedIt replied to havaneseday's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
chapstick for dry lips Good luck with your surgery and hope you have a speedy recovery -
I'm not to the food stage yet, but I bought some 4oz containers so that when it's time to pack food, I won't over pack. I know nuts have calories, but it's also a good source of Protein. I like raw almonds...raw is suppose to be better for you. Hope you get your portions under control and you continue to steadily lose!

Today is the day! I'm getting sleeved today. Wish me well.....thanks

I was able to get by with only a dose of pain med when I first woke up...Didn't even fill my pain med prescription. I didn't have any gas pains. did have some dry heaves. No pain in my stomach...just remember to take tiny sips...if I take too large of one I feel some stricture then it slowly goes away. I've been able to get in my proteins and fluids. Hope you all have a speedy recovery.

No preop diet just liquids the day before?
ISleevedIt replied to jacee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was told to do a week of liquid diet to shrink the liver and make it easier to get to the stomach...It's a good way to lose some weight too. I was surprised that I lost 10 pounds that week with a few cheats. Good luck with your surgery. Hope you have a speedy recovery -
TOMORROW TOMORROW!
ISleevedIt replied to jennaleigh1992's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you all getting sleeved tomorrow. I was sleeved this past thursday and here's some advice from my experience: 1. If you know you get nauseous from anesthesia or pain meds then ask for a patch or something to counter act it. 2. Get up and walk as soon as you can....the first time I walked it was about 5 hours after surgery. Only walked to the nurses station but it was a start. 3. I find it much easier to get into bed on your knees, then your not pulling on any of the stitches. I still do that now. 4. Bring that extra pillow to hold over your stomach when you are moving around...it really helps 5. Remember to take tiny sips when you can...when I saw that SF popsicle, I took too big of a bite and started salivating and dry heaving some. 6. I don't know if others do or not, but don't panic if you vomit and see a lot of brown stuff. It's the dry blood from surgery. This happened to me the first night at home. You will probably see some of it with your first BM also 7. First day at home, I found it helped me to take a tiny sip, walk around the house then come back and take another sip. It definitely gave time for the liquid to move through my tiny stomach to be able to accept more. -
Home from Surgery! Finally post op!
ISleevedIt replied to TropicalGirl1205's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved on thursday and I told my surgeon that I get nausea from anethesia or pain meds so they gave me a patch behind my ear to help with the nausea. I felt lightheaded when I woke up and just couldn't stay awake. I had one dose of pain med then that was it. I only feel one of my stitches when I move about. Just remember to walk as soon as you can. that's what's going to help with the gas. I didn't really feel any gas pains...either that or I don't know what it feels like...lol Hope you're feeling better and better each day Tropical Girl. I was able to get out and do a 1.5 mile stroll...it was so slow I don't even consider it a walk, but it's still helpful. Best of luck to you -
