    How Much Can You Eat?

I am about 2.5 months out and about the same, the dense Protein really knocks me out quick, not even 1/4 cup. I can't finish 1 egg either but I can do 1 cup of Cereal, potatos, etc.. The stuff I shouldn't be eating is no problem...?

    Im Starving..

I agree with Jen, skip the Banana- you need protein. I know it is hard when you are still on soft but go with greek yogurt if you can or ask the NUT or doctor.
  3. If you can lose this without the surgery I wouldn't do it. It is a major lifestyle change. Some people are lucky and can tolerate pizza but some people even many months out can not. This really needs to be your very last resort. My life has really changed since the surgery, for me the pay off it well worth it! In two months I am down from a size 22 to a 16, I was a BMI of 40, Every diet I did I would gain it back and then some. If you have co-mobiditities I would really consider getting this done, just be ready!

    Feel Like Giving Up

I lose very slow, but I lose and if you are spending that much time at the gym then you are adding muscle mass. Are you seeing a change in your clothes? Although I am a slow loser, I have gone from a size 22 to a size 16. So I am changing! Are you on My Fitness Pal? Watch your calories in and calories out, this is just fact if you are getting more out than in you will lose weight. Get your blood work checked for thyroid and Vitamins and keep plugging away. I know it is frustrating when you see people lose 75 lbs in 2 months but they that is okay, as long as our does come off, what does if matter if it is 2 months or 6? As long as it does come off! It has taken me over a month to lose 10 lbs but I could have never done that without the surgery! Hang in there!!
  5. It's not forever. I thought it was but on my 2 month post op visit the doc said I could have caffeine and a straw back. The caffeine within reason. Ask your doc next time.
  6. I have lost 36 lbs and am down 2 sizes. Yesterday a friend of mine asked when I was having my surgery. I wanted to cry when I told her "6 weeks ago". I know we notice our bodies before others do but how much did you lose when people started noticing that you looked different? I am ready!

    What Are You Eating Tomorrow?

I am 2 months out and am having turkey breast, asparagus, and a couple bites of dressing/potatos/pie just for fun! Just hit the 40lbs lost this morning so really don't want to do anything to mess up my progress! Yesterday I had Buffalo Wild Wings with a friend and was shocked that I ate 2 and was full! I used to eat 6-9 plus an entire order of potato wedges! WOW! love my sleeve!

    Cheating? Already?!

If you are starving and need to cheat I would call your doc, I called mine and told them I was starving and they said if I was tolerating all of the food and doing good I could move to the next stage of beans and applesauce, it was great! I never felt satisfied until I ate a piece of chicken.

    Please God!

My husband said something about someone "being fat" and not really in a mean way if you can describe someone as fat in a NOT mean way but I quickly corrected him. I don't care if I end up a size 2, I am always going to be fat because I can never see a day when food is not my issue. I could care less about drugs, alcohol or cigarettes- but leave me alone with a box of donuts and I am still that fat girl.
  10. I am 8 weeks and 38 lbs down, I think we are pretty normal I started at 240. I think we see a lot of people who lose massive weight so quick that we expect that but 40 is still a ton in a short amount of time. My doctor is pleased and said it is healthily and normal. I think mine is because I am not working out hard enough and I am over 40. If I had this done when I was 18 I bet I would have lost more by this time.
  11. Pinky and Brandy, Thank you for posting, I was sleeved on 9/17 and started pre op at 240, I am 202 now. I stall and loose and stall. I was worried I was a slow loser but it looks like I am pretty normal with you two! I just can't wait to get in the one hundreds!!!
  12. Doxie, I saw your post here and in the past and you were not even remotely on my mind when I made the "shark" comment. Sorry if it sounded like it was directed at you I should have phrased it nicer. You are always a great support to me and others- thank you! There are others who I feel like pounce on any post where they feel like people are "cheating" on their new sleeve diet and I am one who is never going to diet again but just eat a healthy balance so I get defensive of those who make us feel guilty for not following their plan.

    Needing Some Advice

How far are you from being approved? I was able to go from 1st consult to surgery in two months. If you can do it that fast I say COBRA and do it. Call your doctor and tell them waht is up and that you need to push this through ASAP. If you are on a 6 month supervied diet than I would do the math and see if it is cheaper to self pay or pay COBRA. If the doc knows you are in a time crunch they can push it through. Good Luck!
  14. Lolly, Girl! There are sharks on these boards and when they see you talking about pizza, doritos, etc.. they smell the blood in the water and you are toast!! As for me, I had this surgery so I could live like a normal person, eating normal portions and end my dieting, food obsession nightmare. I am not living my life on protein shakes. That said, I still have to have a protein shake everyday to get all my protein in because I am only 2 months out. I am a lucky one who has a sleeve of steel and have only barfed once and I think I ate too fast and didn't chew well enough. I tolerate everything. I ate a very small piece of thin crust delight pizza from papa murphys at about 6 weeks. I was full. It was great, I used to eat 4-5 pieces to feel full before.
  15. I have had the same worries because I am losing very slowly but it is coming off. I am starting to notice my weight loss trend. I typically lose a pound every 4 days. I am only eating 800-1200 calories a day and I think it was way to low for me. My doctor did a metabolic rate or study and I burn 2400 a day so I think I need to be eating more but unless I add slider foods I just can't add any more protein to my diet- too full. I am just going to keep, keeping on.

    New To Vsg!

I also had my VSG on 9/17/12 and I am down 37 lbs. I was not a revision but this was the best decision of my life. My doctor told me that after 1500 VSG's not ONE person wanted it reversed. That is was convinced me that it was okay it was not reversible. Also I talked to a friend who had it done and she told me, "ya know when we eat donuts, we need 3 to feel satisfied?, after surgery one or half of one and you feel completly full and happy." That is all I wanted to be a normal person who can still eat food everyone else eats but can eat normal people size protions. I am very pleased with it.

    Congrats! That is amazing!

    Not Full After 2 Weeks

I wasn't full on liquids either. It takes solids- protein to fill me up. The first time I ate grilled chicken was when I knew I had done the right thing by having this surgery. One small grilled chicken nugget from Chick Fil A filled me up and was so great! You will be fine, just hang in there until you get to real food!

    Need To Bite

I chewed up cheese balls and spit them out, totally gross and wonderful all at the time!

I Thought These Would Go Away....

Crazy how we are so different, I am only down 37 pounds in 8 weeks but down from a 22 in pants to a 16. I was upset the scale wasn't moving faster but I guess I am seeing it in my clothes so I will be happy with that! Do you think this has anything to do with our starting weights?

Do Any Of You Feel Guilt?

I never felt like it was the easy way but the ONLY way. I am 41 and have been on every diet know to man, spent every dime I had on every program there was. Remember Susan Powder? I spend money on that program. Weight watcheters? every year. Jenny Craig, been here done that! Richard Simmons- still have the deal a meal. Pills, Rx's, shakes, gyms, personal trainers, low carb, Atkins, South Beach, TOPS, Overeaters Annonomours, counselors and therapists, medifast, etc.... With every one of these programs I lost and gained. My first diet was as a child, my mother would take me to a church basement where I would change into a slip and weigh in and if I lost weight I would get to choose a little gift from the treat box. Finally two years ago I gave up and decided I was just fat, resigned to select my clothing from the PLUS size department. Reserved to the side lines of my daughters life because I was too big to be like the other mothers who could physically participate. Then, the hope of the surgery. A way to get my life back? Maybe? Hope? Yes! The easy way out? If that is what people want to call it then I am okay with that becasue the last 25 years of my life and my battle with my weight and food has not been easy and honeslty I could use some easy about now. I could use a way to lose weight that dosen't leave me broke, fat and hating myself. I do not get angry with people with call it the easy way out, I just think they haven't had my battle and if they did they would be so happy for me and understand this is not the easy way, this is my only way.

    When Do People Notice?

I agree Diana! This is for me, but I see the difference and I wonder if anyone else does but like Doxie I always wore clothes too big and tried to hide my weight, still do now too. I started at 240 and am at 204 now. I think maybe 70 people will notice, you think?

    Can You Eat Red Meat?

I think I am another sleeve of steel here, at 6 weeks I was cleared to have a regular bariatric diet. I have not found a food that I can not tolerate. I do well with all proteins but I avoid soft bread and tortillas due to that overly full feeling.

Pcp Scared The Crap Outta Me

I didn't go to my PCP on purpose prior to surgery for that exact reason. Then, my mother told him after the fact (doc is a family friend and whole family see's him) anyway, he told her that he would not have talked me out of it, that he was supportive of wls patients and that he only cautioned them on keeping it off once they lost it because he see's a lot of regain. I appreciate that.
