    Pardon my bluntness...

At two weeks post op, I called the doc's office and told them I was tolerating everything well and starving and got the green light to move foward on the post op diet a little faster. I think the post op diet keeps us safe and protects our new sleeve, some people have a very hard time even holding down the soup and applesauce- they need to progress slow. We are all different. If you are rocking your sleeve- call your doctor. Sometimes it is just hard to reach our doctors and so we rely on eachother for help and since we are not doctors we offer judgements instead. I don't like to judge others, I don't know their journey but I am really not going to cast judgement on someone who is on a journey that I haven't even started yet!
  4. My hair loss started at two months out and has been very steady for the past month to 6 weeks. Not letting up at all everymorning or everyother morning when I shampoo I end up pulling handfulls out. It must be happening pretty evenly because I haven't found a bald spot either. I was going to cut it short but decided to keep it long incase I needed to pull a Donald Trump and use the long length to swirl it up on my head like an ice cream cone to cover a bald spot. Everyone tells me it will stop and grow back. It is just getting a little scary when there is so much day after day. I am trying not to panic yet. It is worth it. I would much rather be bald than fat.
  5. I have 4 boxes of clothes I cleaned out of my closet ready to give away. Most are work clothes from kohls and Dillard's. there are a couple sweaters from Coldwater Creek, Ralph Lauren and Chaps. There are probably 15 pants and 30 tops you can have them for free if you come get them or pay shipping. There is no junk. One or two pants need a button but that is it. It is all clean and from a smoke free home but I do have a dog. I need these out by Saturday. Thank you!

    18/20 2x clothes Texas

    Clothes are gone! Thank you!
  7. Maybe those of you who regretted the surgery were not at your very bottom when you chose surgery, perhaps there were still diets that would have worked for you. I was at my lowest low. Give up my diet coke addiction? Done! Small price to pay for my life back. I have been overweight my entire life. As a child my mother would take me to TOPS in a church basement to weight in with a bunch of old fat ladies and if I lost weight I would get a trinket. I never had a boyfriend, no prom date. When I went to the WLS consult if they would have asked me to sell my soul to the devil to end my battle with dieting and failing I would have in a heart beat. I am not saying you are wrong to have regrets, I cried like a baby when my softball team got Whataburger and I didn't get any! But if you are just a few weeks out give it time before you decide if his was right or wrong. You will be able to eat potato skins again but instead if eating 9 you will eat 1 or 2 and be full and happy and skinny!
  8. Yes! Ready to get back to normal! Too many slider foods in my house! Sent the last of the fudge out the door with my husband, going to clean out the fridge today and go back to my good eating of protein!! No more Christmas excuses for me! Glad to see I am not the only one who ate, drank and was marry this year!

    Total Failure

Okay, I am starting to rethink this whole thing and I am not buying it. There is no way someone with 140 pounds of extra weight loses 30 pounds total on the sleeve. No way! Me and too many friends have had this surgery. Some lost 30 in the first month! Either there is something seriously medically wrong with Sarah and her sleeve or this is someone trying to add doubt and scare us. If she would have said she lost 70 and regained 30, I might buy this. But really who loses 30 total? I started at 240 which I think was a low starting weight and I lost 30 in less than 60 days and I ate a bunch of crap! I am calling BS, Sorry.

    Total Failure

Sarah, you did the right thing to post today, people on this board know the struggles of regaining.Coming here was a courageous first step and hopefully enough to get you to the next step. Go see your doctor!!! Run to your doctor on Wednesday. Don't pass go don't collect $200. I know we all can regain weight but something is really wrong. You should have lost way more than 30 lbs. I will tell you the truth. I have lost 50 and I stay active but I do not exercise. I don't. I know I should. Anyway, this is about you. There maybe something wrong metabolically or other. Have you tracked how many calories you are eating a day? Do you feel this is a legitimate gain? Are you drinking Cokes or high sugar drinks? I am trying to think of any possible way you could physically get these calories in your body. You did not fail! You can correct this now! Go back to page one this minute, not tomorrow but now- go back to liquid and protein, until you feel your restriction again! Sarah do this for you and for all of us who really believe we have found the final answer to save us from a life of dieting! You got this girl!! It will work for you!
  11. It is your business not to tell people. BUT people are not stupid and when you lose 50 pounds in 90 days or less they are going to know this is not a normal weight loss. You can lie and tell them you are working out or whatever but that is going to fuel the gossip. Look at what happened with Star Jones, she denied it and it fueled rumors and talk. Those who come right out and say what they did- there isn't much to talk about. I don't volunteer my weight loss or surgery but when someone, asked me- "how did you do it" I tell them. How can you look an overweight, struggling friend in the face and lie. I can't- I found a solution that saved my life, I am going to share that with them. It might not be their solution but they need to know all options out there that work to save them from the awful life of obesity. I have a friend I highly suspect of having this sugery and she lied to me. I suspect it in hind sight after my surgery and recalling her eating habits and weight loss. I have never come out and asked her but it bothers me that she wouldn't tell me. She knows my stuggle, she knows how hard I tried and she found a solution and hid it from me. I feel a kindred spirit with overweight people, they are the only ones who know how awful life can be when you can't lose weight, when you try everything and lose and gain. They know what it is like to hate themselves and feel like a failure in life.
  12. I would ask if they have post surgery support groups, does he have his own NUT or contracted? I would get a detailed list of the pre-op requirements. There will be a list of required medical tests he wants you do to, sometimes they have a specific dr they want you to use and other times is does not matter. It helps to know a time line, who to contact in his office for insurance, NUT questions, pre-op, post op, etc.. My process when very fast, less than 90 days and I wish I would have asked more questions on post op instead of pre-op. I agree with previous poster that you determine how fast or slow this process is. I wanted it done and pressed my appointments and paperwork thru, had I not done that, I might still be waiting on surgery. If you want this, you need to take charge and be prepared for calling, the doc, the insurance, etc. until you get the appointments, approval, etc.. I am so glad I did it. It was the solution for me.

    constipation

I am using miralax everyday in my coffee, can't taste it or even know it is in there and I go everyday.

    No alcohol ever?

I was told in moderation after 1 year, I am only 3 months out and have a glass a wine about once a week and I have never felt "buzzed" or tipsey from it.

    sleep study

I thought it was a huge waste of money and a stupid hoop to jump thru, I had to do two and my sleep apnea was so minor the tech said I didn't really need the machine unless I wanted it. So I didn't take it but I am a huge advocate of the cpap machine. I had a close, overweight friend pass away and they suspect she stopped breathing in the night. My husband wears one and loves it! He can't sleep without it. I learned from his experience that if you have sleep apnea and don't wear your cpap at night it can cause your heart to enlarge, it then can't pump blood and you can die, have a stoke, etc...So if you have it, please wear it! If the sleep tech told me I needed it I would have taken it but didn't want to take it for the heck of it!

    Not Really Living

I hope you get your approval soon. It is so hard being unhappy in your skin, I know, I lived it all of my life and only found success since the sleeve. Good Luck to you! Holidays are hard- keep your head up and try and do the small things that make you happy!

    wrinkly fingers

Now that you mention it, I notice it too! I never made the connection of the weight loss and this but it has never happened before- I am three months out. How far are you?

    First Sleeved Christmas

Thanks you for the great ideas I will implement them this second!
  19. I am three months out down over 45 lbs, but I am having a hard time with so many temptations around this time of year. I don't think I mentally prepared for it. I have thrown up a glazed donut, and pushed to eat more than I knew I could on more than one occasion because it is Christmas! Not good. Need more tools to help deal with a sleeve at this time of year!
  20. I used Barker, forest park is beautiful. I had no complications, I met with dr. Rodriguez twice and dr. Hodges twice. Here is my thought on it- they are the super store of this surgery, if you want personal attention where they all know your name this is not for you. If you want experience and people who know what they are doing then you will be fine with barker. They don't call to check on you, I have no local support groups but I can always call their office and get help and my questions answered. I wanted an experienced doctor who did the procedure correctly and that is what I got. I am pleased. If you want more you need to keep looking.

    THATS not self control!

After being on diets since I was 12 I am seriously convinced that after being sleeved for only 90 days that this is the ONLY solution that would have EVER helped me. I look at all the failed attemps and money I spent and most importantly how bad I felt about myself everytime I failed. I finally feel like a normal person now. I don't obsess about food, I don't overeat. I like myself so much more because I am not defeated by food. I am not at goal but this is already a success for me. I feel like an addict who has been freed. I think this went so much deeper than self control. I didn't have control over food, myself, my body, my emotions- I was a slave to my hunger. Now I walk away and put food in it's place- fuel for my body. That's it. Not the key to my life and happiness. I think my food issues were so much deeper than self control, so when I hear people talk about that, I realize those are people who really don't understand what it is like to have this kind problem.
  22. NEVER! Best gift in the world. Wish I would have done it sooner. I believe that this is the only thing that would have ever worked for me. My doctor has done over 800 and he said no one ever came in and asked for their stomaches to be put back in! I can eat everything just in smaller amounts. I am like a normal person which is all I ever wanted.

OMG! I HAVE SO SCREWED UP!

If this was me, and trust me, this totally sounds like something I would have done. I would go to the boss asap and tell him you are having wls and that you intented on not telling anyone due to the judgement some people tend to pass on this sugery and when he pressed you got flustered and didn't know what to say. Tell him your doctor has urged you to have this procedure due to health concerns. There are too many lunch and food issues around work and your food and rapid weight loss are going to draw major attention to you. If your boss has your back then it will help. I only told one co-worker and boy was I glad, we were at a work lunch and the boss and others were almost force feeding me and commenting on what small amounts I was eating when she stepped in and helped me get out of it, by saying "she is doing so good on her diet". So it will help you in the long run to have an alli in this in the work place plus if you are like me, if you lose almost 50 pounds in 12 weeks people are going to be talking! I just tell people- I don't give a rats ass what they think of me, I am thrilled with my surgery and my skinny size 16 jeans.
  24. YES! YES! Just be patient with yourself! I remember crying HUGE alligator tears when I couldn't eat whataburger with our softball team at 2 weeks out. Now, I eat like a normal "thin" person! I eat healthy food in small amounts and I can have Whataburger sometimes. You are going to be normal again. Just keep telling yourself this is just for right now and soon I will be normal again only wearing several sizes smaller- so worth it!! You are in the very worst part of the sleeve process right now. Hang in there!
  25. I was sleeved Sept. 17 and my total weight loss is 42, I am pleased with that, BUT looking at my MFP I have only lost 7 pound this entire month. I feel that is a little low for only my second month out- I will lose one pound and stay there a week and then lose another. Blood work looks good, I am eating 800 - 1200 calories a day. I am not getting in all of my water. Could this be it? I am going to be diligent today and this week and get my water in and see if this will help. Any thoughts? Thank you!
