  1. How much Protein & Water are you getting in? Your body is still in a bit of shock, but if you are doing what your NUT recommended, you should start losing steady. Are you getting enough walking in? Whenever I was stalled, I always asked myself it I'm doing everything I should be. Almost always, I could be more diligent.

Are you tracking all your food and Water with an app like MyFitnessPal? That helped me so much the first year, and still (though I will admit I have been bad with it lately)

Are you are still in the Puree stage?

As far as support, it is hard for anyone who has not lived through this to truly understand, especially the emotional factor so many of us have and still struggle with. Search the boards, almost every topic imaginable has been covered, you just have to look.

    Best of luck to you!!

  2. No, didnt' effect surgery at all. They tell you that much to build you up. Vitamin D takes time to store, once your level goes up, you'll be taking less. Ask them specifically what kind D or D3. Just so you are getting exactly what you need.

It amazes me how many things Vitamin D effects. Google it when you get a chance. Good luck!

  3. Work place chatter is always hard. If you don't share it with anyone, it should be kept quiet. Your managers are not allowed to ask about procedures etc. If it is your time to take off, then your privacy should remain in tact.

I am 16 months out, and though I haven't had any foods I can't tolerate, there are foods I avoid. Trigger foods for me. chips, etc. go down way too easy, and regardless of our restriction, you can eat around your sleeve if you choose to. It's not a cure all. Just a tool, we have to do our part to be as successful as we can be.

I enjoy an occasional drink, but I didn't for a while. I'm not going to be a hypocrite and tell you not to drink, just giving my experience and how I proceeded. Aside from the empty calories, our bodies will burn the alcohol first before fat. And I have noticed the alcohol now has a much quicker effect on me. I avoid drinking sepcifically in "tailgate" situations because I don't want to make bad choices worse if I'm not on my game. Everyone is different and everyone's triggers are different. You have to manage your choices and do what is best for you. I do have days where I am not as strict, but I track it all and account for it. All that being said, one day is not going to ruin anyone's progress overall. I specifically had this procedure becuase I didn't want to diet for the rest of my life anymore. I wanted to have things in moderation and get my eating and choices under control.

When I have party or social situations, I bring a dish I can enjoy. There are tons of healitier choices out there. No reason you can't enjoy your social gatherings as much as ever. food doens't have to be the focus.

I had surgery on a Tuesday and was back at work Monday. I'm in an office situation so no lifiting required.

Best of luck to you!! Great progress so far!

  4. You didn't go through all this for nothing.

It is very common to have a stall at this point. Your body is adjusting to major surgery. Stay the course, it will start moving again. Stick to the baics, get all your Water & Protein in and walk as much as you can. If you're not getting in what you should, work on that. We can't expect the scale to move if we're not doing what we are supposed to.

Good luck and congratulations on your successful surgery!

  5. Hi Morgan, I'm so sorry to hear you have been struggling. I think it's important for people contemplating surgery to hear everyone's experiences. So vent away. I

When I was first out of surgery warm liquids went down much easier than cold, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury makes a Protein rich chicken Soup that was a godsend the first few weeks. Also try different fluids, Water too was harder for me to get down, but Vitamin Water Zero, no problem. Even if you have to suck on sugar free ice pops, you need your fluids. Best of luck, we only know if someone is struggling if they post. So never fear backlash for giving your honest experience.

  6. I eat pizza maybe once a month. I don't treat it like a cheat. I have one slice.

Exactly. I don't treat ANYTHING as a "cheat". It's why I had wls in the first place - so I'd never have to "cheat" on a "diet" ever again.

I occasionally will eat 1/4 of a homemade Boboli crust pizza (with italian cheese, olives, and mushrooms - my fav toppings). I like homemade much better than store or restuarant pizza and if I'm going to eat something - I make sure I LOVE it. I can only eat 1/4 of it, somedays not even that much. So 1 pizza makes 4 meals.

If more people told the truth, I'm sure you'd see a bunch more people eating pizza on here. Pizza is part of life (as is Pasta, bread, and rice) and I eat small portions on everything. I'm now only less than 10 lbs from goal so something must be working...

Absolutely agree. I have pizza on occasion, and factor it in. I'll have a slice and some salad. I'm not a huge pizza lover so having it on occasion is plenty for me.

  7. I've been skin brushing, you can find videos on YouTube. It's easy and even though I can't really determine how much it is helping, it is what I can do to help things along. I purchased the brush on Amazon and use it every day. I will always have the loose skin, surgery is the only way to rid it completely, but my skin does look and feel better since I've been doing the brushing.

  8. Congratulatons on your successful surgery!

You'll hear folks refer to the "slimies" It sound like that to me. It happend to me once, and that was enough. A few bites too many, and very uncomfortable.

You're still early out so it is trickier, but I measured everything. The first 6 weeks or so, it was only a few ounces. Even today at 15 months out, I tend to measure out most things. Portion Control was a major issue for me, so this helps getting and staying in good habits. Also, slowing down does help. Give yourself time to adjust to the new normal. Different foods also will sit differently and you'll be able to have more of some things than others. Dense Protein, grains, Pasta etc. are all things i can eat less of. In the meantime, stop and wait when you have a few bites left and see how you feel. Protein first, to ensure you are getting in enough for energy, then the other stulff if you feel you have room and it fits in your plan.

    Best of luck!

  9. Hey there, sorry for my delayed response. For my plan, and I uderstand not all are equal, they did away with the 6 month supervised visits. I did have 2 nutrition consults prior to scheduling, as required by my insurance.

  10. Are you tracking your foods? You could be eating too few calories. When I was about 8 weeks out, I was losing painfully slow. My NUT had me increase my calories too 1000 and my loss remained steady for months. At about a year out and less than 30# to goal, I'm again losing slowly but I was expecting that.

    Good Luck

  11. I compltely agree with McButterpants.

What we perceive as a stall could be many things. We all want the scale to move down every day. It doesn't always happen. I weigh every day, but I don't streess on the numbers. I have gone up and down the same three pounds for almost 3 months, This week, the scale finally moved down a few. But also in that time, I went down a size in pants. The scale will become your worst enemy if you let it. If you are doing all you are supposed to, trust that you will lose. I lost the weight differently this time than any other, and there are placed on me that are holding onto the fat for dear life.

In addition to measurements, take pictures.. the same poses throughout your loss.

I wish I did, I tend to only see the progress in pictures.

You're doing great, best of luck!!
