  1. Hi everyone, I am three weeks post op and wondering when the nausea after eating or drinking will go away. I am only eating one, maybe two bites over a 20-30 min period and I feel soooo full and nauseous. Even drinking makes me overly full. I just wish I could drink some water and not feel like I am going to throw up. I'm having a little buyers remorse here. On a positive note I have lost 30lbs!!! Yay!

    How Much You've Lost

I just use the my weight from the day of surgery. That way I know what is from the sleeve vs other things. I am down 24lbs from my surgery date. Sleeved on 9/4.
  3. Well I am at 8 days post op so it is all still fresh in my mind. Although maybe to fresh and I might make it worse for you! I walked into the OR, I got a local anesthetic for my IV which was AWESOME! It was just some lidocaine in the area of the IV which I thought was so unnecessary but then when the anesthesiologist did my IV I didn't feel a thing. Then he was talking to me and gave me some nice dream medicine and then next thing I remember was waking up in the recovery room. I was in pain and uncomfortable, I said I was in pain and then they gave me some medication and I went back to sleep. I got a PCA, which is a patient controlled analgesic machine. Pain button, I pushed it when I was in pain and then the pain went away. The first day wasn't fun, I was basically in and out of sleep all day. Towards the evening I was awake more, uncomfortable but not in horrible pain. Uncomfortable is a good way to describe it. My husband was there and we chatted on and off. I was still attached to all the monitors and was not allowed to get up until the next morning. The next morning I asked to get up, I walked to the bathroom, washed my face and body with these cleansing towels they gave me. My Foley had been taken out so I got to pee on my own. I walked the hallway for about 20 mins or so. I was less uncomfortable than the first day, but still in some discomfort. Mid morning I went for my leak test, which was fine except the stuff you have to drink is GROSS. It was over quickly though, so not so bad. Went back to my room, walked some more. slept some more. Once leak results were negative I was given clears to drink. Honestly I wanted ice and water because my mouth was dry but I wasn't hungry. I drank some water, a little broth and slept some more. I walked more.. and more... and more... I got rid of the PCA and switched to Percocet. Slept fine that night with my pain pills on board. Went home the next morning, and have been home since. I'm walking a lot and having a hard time getting protein in, but fluids are fine. I don't like the taste of the protein shakes, they all taste horrible to me. I am getting the unflavored ones and will be putting them in soup etc... I think fluids is the most important thing the first week. At day 8 protein is getting easier and the shakes are more tolerable. The first couple days are hard, but not impossible by any stretch. I weighed myself yesterday which was 7 days and I lost 17lbs already. The beginning is hard, I won't lie but I know it will be worth it in the end. I want to be healthy and this small amount of discomfort and pain is all worth it!!!
  4. Hey Nurses! I'm a nurse in a recovery room, nurse for almost 10 years now. I just got sleeved on Tuesday the 4th. I can say that I don't like being a patient, ugh. Just got home today and I am feeling good. Sore and tired, but nothing like the first day. It was a BRUTAL day! Had a dilaudid PCA and was still in pain, but the PCA made it bearable. Drinking Protein shakes... yuck. But excited about the future and a new healthy me!!

    Any Nyc Sleevers?

I'm home with my sleeve! I had it done on Tuesday and the first day was rough. I was in a lot of pain and basically went from pain to sleep all day. Wednesday was better, lots of gas pain that I didn't think would bother me as much as it did. I got home today and I'm feeling better. Starting my protein drinks, slowly but surely. Overall feeling OK, just tired.
  6. Hey everyone, Just trying to figure out if I should have hubby take the week of my surgery off or the week after. He can't take both weeks off, so trying to decide what makes the most sense. He could just take day of my surgery off and then take off a couple hours to bring me home two days later, then take 3-4 days the next week while I am home. The other alternative would be for him to take the day of my surgery (Tuesday) and the rest of that week. So he would be off for my surgery, the two days I am in the hospital and then the two days after I get out. I am getting sleeved on a Tuesday, was it helpful to have someone at the hospital with you those two days and your first two days home? Would I be better off having him just take the day of my surgery off and then my first whole week home? I really can't decide what is more helpful or needed. ugh. Advice? Experiences? Thanks!
  7. Thanks everyone. I do have small kids, a 4 year old and 16 month old twins!! I have a babysitter that watches them when I work and she will be here to take care of them. I'm thinking if my hubby takes off that first week he will be able to take me and pick me up from the hospital and be home to help me on the day I come home which hopefully will be a thursday and the friday. He is off the weekend and if he went back to work on Monday that would be post op day 6 and I would be on my own. Someone will be there for the kids, but I will be making my own shakes etc.... Does that sound good? Was everyone pretty able to do for themselves by day 6? Mind you I had two C-sections and never took any pain meds once home, so this might be easy compared to that and taking care of twins after... HAHA....
  8. Good luck, you will do great!

My Op Has Been Cancelled Today :(

So sorry, I can't imagine how hard that would be. Like everyone else already stated, its better to be safe. I know that right now you are just upset and frustrated. Hopefully your GP can figure out how to fix and get your numbers up. Good luck!!
  11. Congratulations!! I remember being so relieved when I finally got my insurance approval!! My surgery date is 9/4, right around the corner.

Hello Everyone! I am having surgery with Dr. Yatco on Sept 4th, yay! I'm so excited and nervous at the same time. I can't wait to start my new life! I really like Dr. Yatco, he seems very nice, genuine, patient and informative. Did anyone have the Switch? Dr. Yatco advised just the Sleeve for me.
