  1. I've always ate meat and had no problem until after I was sleeved. Was sleeved 9/12 and since then everytime I eat meat including all seafood, I feel like vomitting. It's the taste and I don't like the way it feels in my mouth. This is so weird. What else can I do to get my Protein in as I think I might become a vegetarian with all this.

some of my favorites of Protein other than "meat" are GREEK yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, cheese, string cheese, Peanut Butter, non fat milk, eggs, Beans, and of course our powdered whey Protein Drink mix. good luck. :)

  2. Omg! I just swallowed a piece of gum! I'm scared, what should I do?

well first off call your Dr. but don't panic. my sister swallowed gum, freaked out, called her surgeon and he laughed and said "it will pass" but don't make a habit of it. She had gastric bypass.

  3. For me there was NO real pain, just a lot of bloating and nausea, which took about 2 months to get totally over. I've had ingrown toenails that were MUCH more painful then the VSG. JMHO.

I couldn't agree more. NO pain- discomfort. Nausea was the worst for me and the bloating was second.

  4. Thank you all so much for responding so quickly. I feel so much better knowing that you have had that experience. My c-section/delivery was quite the ordeal so I was hoping that if I could make it through that, I should be able to handle this. I get sleeved on the 24th so I'll report back, I'm sure with good news. :) Thank you for the tip on the heating pad!

Good luck, we'll be thinking of you on the 24th.

  5. hi, I had the sleve July 6th - this year. I had a c-section in 1986. (yes I am a grandma= 56) :) The c-section was MUCH worse for me. VERY difficult to get up and down w/out it feeling like things wanted to fall out. I had pain for a week. My sleeve was almost a piece of cake in comparison. I know some people have more pain but I only had the pain meds in the hosp. and at night to help me sleep. I can only sleep well on my belly and of course you can't do that for a while. I would say don't worry too much about "pain", dis-comfort is a better word. Ask your Dr. if you can use a heating pad because the warmth was very soothing for me. You will do great and I'll bet you will be amazed how little pain you really have. good luck! :)

  6. I started to notice that my muscles felt like I need to stretch all the time. I was talking to my cousin who does Cross-fit. He told me that since I was doing low carb, I needed to add B-12. I wanted to post this in case someone else was having this same problem.

hi, my nutrionist prescribed 500 mcg. (sublingual) e. day. I took that for a while BUT have increased to 2500 mcg e. day and feel SO much better! I have read you cannot overdose on B-12 and my G.P. agreed. I get the cherry- pretty yummy!!!

  7. Sheree, I don't know about the above info., but I had surgery on July 10 and my blood sugar has remained stable. Fasting in the low 100's. I have been diabetic for about 10 yrs. and it is going to take more weight loss to get mine to budge. I just have to keep checking it every day or so to see if it goes down. I am still on the same diabetic meds that I was on before surgery. I would love to be able to stop them, but so far it is not happening.

thanks for the post. I wish you luck.

  8. This board has great potential. So many people pass through, but so few comment? Forgive me for trying to set the stage, but it's all right here...

As you browse through the recovery topics on the "12 Step" board, please take a moment to talk about your day, your abstinence, HP, your challenges, 12 Step solutions, your Experience, Strength and Hope! Let's share a power that is right under our noses to deal with our own, and share in helping others with, food addiction... {:>} rd

Im 1 month out and I feel like im at a stall also but I can see and feel the difference in my clothes. I'm sure the pounds will follow the inches.

Nicely said, I am guilty and will work at being a "respnder" I promise. thanks for the nudge!

  9. Hi, I had my sleeve on July 6th at 227 lbs. My cholest. was high, blood pressure high, and blood glucose was 101. Had blood test last week and today Dr. (G.P.) says cholest. dropped 40 pts, blood pressure much better but blood glucose is 103. (you want 65-99). Has anyone else had this happen? I have a call into my surgeon but was hoping for some feedback from my sleeve friends. thanks.

  10. I think I had a gallstone attack today. Painful and right spot. It lasted about an hour. I called surgeon and made an appt with my gen phys. If it is my gall bladder must it come out? Not loving the thought of another surgery so soon

hi, just had a post op check today. Surgery July 6th. My Dr. gave me a prescription for medication to avoid gallstones. I hadn't even thought of this before. Good luck.

Susie, how long ago did you have your surgery? I don't see it listed anywhere. Thanks. (I would LOVE to get rid of my Protein shakes too!)
