    Sleeve Vs Csection

The hiatal hernia repair was a breeze - no pain meds necessary. This time it was an incarcerated/strangulated umbilical hernia. It has been awful! Today is the first day I feel 80% normal, thankfully! I will say the contracting uterus while breastfeeding was not fun, but I didn't really think it hurt. Then again, I had a 17-month old crawling all over me as well, so I probably was distracted by the pain her little elbows and knees were causing me!
  3. WOW! Seriously, you look like a completely different person. I can usually see the person in their 'before', but you don't look at all the same. And I mean that as a giant compliment! You are such an inspiration for us baby sleevers - thanks for sharing your story!

    Sleeve Vs Csection

I hate to be the negative nelly, but I have to be honest. I've had 5 abdominal surgeries - gall bladder out, c-section, band in, band out, and now sleeved. This was by far the worst pain I've ever had from surgery. I'd never even used pain meds post op (literally none - not even in recovery) until my sleeve, and I was begging and crying every 3 hours for more drugs. I was in the hospital for five days. I did have a very severe incarcerated hernia fixed this time (I had a hiatal hernia with the band in), which is likely contributing to a big chunk of the pain. But this has been way rougher than I was anticipating.

  6. Hi! I was sleeved 11/9, so I am 8 days post-op. I was on liquids for the first week and now mushies/purees for the next three weeks. Today I had scrambled eggs, cheese, chicken salad, and hummus, and it all went well. I went very slow, max 2 T. at each meal, but no pain, no nausea, and no vomiting. My recovery has been much slower than I anticipated. I still get tired very easily and just have no energy. I can't wait to feel normal again. It'll be worth it in the end!

    Hungry 5 Post Op

I'm 8 days post-op and I am also hungry. I've been reassured that for some people it takes a few weeks, up to 4 or 5, to feel full. But everyone promises that it will happen. And I am holding them to it! Hang in there!

    Who's Eating Pureed Foods Already?

Just an update, in case anyone is reading. pureed foods have gone really well for me today. So far, I've had the following: The eggs from this morning chicken salad made with canned chicken & mayo on top of club crackers Fresh mozzarella Babybel cheese Hummus Either I have a sleeve of steel already or he forgot to take my stomach out, because it is going really well! I stop when I feel the first sign of pressure, which is usually after about 2 T. of food. Additionally, I've had 64 oz of Water so far.

    I'm Hungry!

I'm a week out and have been hungry more than not. I know it's not head hunger, as I had a band for 2+ years, and I know what it's like to not be hungry. Rest assured, I've been told over and over again that for many of us, it'll take a month until our bodies regulate. Yes, that month will suck, but then it'll be much better! I've been promised, and I'm holding those folks to their promises! I just started purees today, and so far, still hungry, but I will let you know how it goes. Hang in there!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Torodol is a beautiful drug and will help immensely! According to my doc, you have to have a break after 24 hours on it, as it is hard on the kidneys, but you can get a second round after that break if you need. I was also on Demerol, as I had a very serious incarcerated hernia. Demerol is also a very beautiful drug. First pain reliever that's not caused me to vomit, and I think I am in love! LOL Today is 1 week since surgery, and I have felt about 500% better the past 24 hours. I still get very tired very quickly. I've been back to work since Wednesday (working from home); I wish I could have taken off some more time, but it is crunch time on the project I am on, and it just wasn't feasible. I just try to pace myself throughout the day. Unfortunately, I have a sick kid home with me today. She is vomiting, and I swear, I better not catch it from her! Oh, and I had my first pureed food this morning - scrambled eggs. SOOOO GOOOOD!

    Who's Eating Pureed Foods Already?

Well, so far, so good with my first puree! I very softly scrambled one egg, 1/4 c. of milk, and 2 T. of light cream cheese in 1 tsp of butter. I ate about 2 T of it, or maybe 1/4 of it. I am still really hungry, but I felt a little pressure, so I stopped. Man, did it taste good!
  12. Congrats! You are rockin' that sleeve!

    Who's Eating Pureed Foods Already?

NY Beauty, sorry it didn't go so well! Tomorrow is a new day, and I hope it's better. And thanks for the rest of the advice! I've been allowed yogurt and pudding on my full liquid diet, and I've had zero problems with them. I plan on going slow, but man, am I excited to eat something that's not sweet!

nicky, your body is probably in shock and just adjusting itself. I know it's easier said than done, but just keep doing what you are supposed to be doing, and your body will follow eventually. I promise! As for me, today is the last day of full liquids. I get to eat pureed foods tomorrow, and I am beyond excited!!!!!!!!!!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Having been banded for 2+ years, I am pretty used to the difference between head and real hunger, and I am pretty sure I am hungry-hungry. I am shaky, light-headed, and my stomach is growling and won't stop. But you are right. I will survive and this is a small price to pay for the ultimate goal. I am about to eat a yogurt, hoping that will help. I've already had 30 ounces of Water this morning, trying to fill me up to no avail. But I am going to keep keepin on! In a few months, this will be but a small memory!

    Last Week Sleevers..lets Chat..

I was sleeved on the 9th, and I have a lot of pain as well from a serious hernia repair. This sucks, to be honest. I've had 5 abdominal surgeries and this is by far the worst I've ever had. By far. I've never even used pain meds post-op until this surgery, and now I am begging for them every four hours! I'm also really, really hungry, which sucks. I wasn't expecting to be hungry, so that has caught me off guard. I am hoping it goes away soon!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Hi, All! Been a tough recovery due to a serious hernia. But I am surviving. Six days post-op, and I am HUNGRY. HUNGRY. I had a pudding last night, which did nothing to fill me up. My doc tells me it's normal, but it still concerns me. Anyone else??
