  1. I have darker skin in places where my body fat rubs together - inner thighs/skin under the very top of my arm... Is there a way that you have gotten your two skin tones to match again? Or maybe I'm the only one with this issue. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  2. Is there ANYONE here that had the surgery, lost/is losing a bunch of weight, and has little to no lose skin?? What did you do? I'm scheduled for surgery in 24 days... I don't have any flabby skin right now at all - at 300 lbs. I'm fat, but it's contained... Just wondering what some of the preventative techniques were Sent from my iPhone using VST
  3. From what I've been hearing, Lapland is a terrible idea. I don't see why they still offer it. If you're gonna do it, go all the way! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  4. Norozco, did you have to do a liquid diet pre op?
  5. I don't have to do a liquid diet at all....
  6. That's awesome nishia! congrats. I was looking through my notebook the other day and it didn't say anything about me having to do a liquid diet. I have to start atkins two weeks before (which i'm starting a month ahead of time)... I have a lot of questions for my nutritionist Oct. 30.
  7. Well hi Karen! Do you have to do a liquid diet?
  8. oh man, your date is coming up so soon! You're going to look amazing! good luck!
  9. I remember being 210 lbs and thinking - that's not SO much. I don't weigh 300, I can do it on my own! And now I'm 305 lbs. I wish I could have done it on my own, but I've come to the realization that I just couldn't/can't. Food is a crutch for me, and I need it to not be. We all wish we didn't have to take such drastic measures to do what looks so easy for some people, but we can't. I haven't told my mother I'm having the surgery. I think she would act the same way as your family. I wish you luck and I hope you find a way to pay for it!
  10. Thank all of you so much! I just needed to know that I wasn't the only one that was scared of how the change will make them look! Glad j found this forum!
  11. I have never bee thin (since maybe 2nd grade). I think that my face looks okay right now but I can literally not IMAGINE what I will look like at a normal weight. Do you think I will be pretty? I feel like a loser for posting this.. But all o a sudden I'm realizing that I may look completely different.. And maybe not in a good way? November 12 is soooo close and I'm scared.
  12. Anyone getting the surgery on or around November 12?? Lets talk! Lets be sleeve buddies! Lets get each other prepared for one of the scariest things I think I have ever done in my life!
  13. Don't cheat!! It's what got us into this mess!
  14. I tossed and turned the while night of my study! Wish I could have had ambien! I am still scared that they didn't get enough info to know whether or not I have apnea!
  15. Congrats! When is the date???
  16. I met with my surgeon today! Apparently since southern surgical is a bariatrics of distinction facility, they don't have to send my info. to insurance for approval or denial - I'm just automatically approved after they have all my tests and info. I wish they would have told me this before all the worry about getting denied lol. My surgery is set for November 12! I'm a teacher, so I will have the 12th off for veterans day, and a few days for thanksgiving, and the weekends to recover. That will give me 16 days. I hope this is enough time to recover. If I need more, I have extra sick days I can take. I just don't want to leave my students with a substitute for any longer than I have to - but I wanted to get this done so I can enjoy Christmas. I'm so excited!! I have pre-op scheduled for October 30th. Not sure what all that's going to entail other than some more blood work. Oh, and I only have to pay $348 before the surgery! Today was such a relief. I'm going to be SO NERVOUS a week or so before! I need to start going to the gym too. Right now I'm at 305 lbs - down from 312.. I would like to be 280 by the time of the surgery. Thanks for all your support everyone!!!
  17. Thanks guys for your input. I meet with my surgeon today so I will ask my staff if they can help me
  18. I'm just gonna call mine "banana"... That's what they compared the size to when I first started looking into it and it kinda just stuck... Although its more like a sharpie than a banana!
  19. Does your deductible have to be met BEFORE they approve or deny?
  20. I'm hoping for a November date! Gonna have to take out a loan for my deductible! Money is tight
  21. that makes sense. i didn't really think of it like that
  22. I am in the beginning phases of getting approved for the gastric sleeve. I weighed exactly 300 lbs at my last visit. My doctor printed off my expected weight loss with the surgery, and it was only at 175... At this weight, I would still be considered obese. My doctor told me that I only have to lose 10 lbs before the surgery (I have no idea if I'll get approved... though she's 99% sure of it....but she said it should take about four months) Because of the thought of me only losing 125 with the sleeve, I was thinking that it would be a good idea to lose 35-40 lbs on my own, in order to reach my overall goal weight of 135-140. I am, however, a little scared that if insurance sees that I can lose 40 lbs on my own, that they will decline to give me the surgery, which would be a huge mistake. I have been overweight my whole life. I've lost 40 lbs before, and then gained it all back, plus some... but I know that the sleeve will help me get to the weight I want to be, and stay there. What are your opinions on me losing more than the required ten lbs? Has anyone else been in this situation? Thank you. -Cat
  23. congrats! that's wonderful! everyone says they had problems with lap band... i don't know why they even offer that.
