  1. Hi all. I haven't been around in a while. I am stuck after losing 40 lbs!! I developed a thryroid issue and it stopped the weight loss. I am now on Meds and am feeling better but am having trouble getting back to good habits. I don't think I need a fill because I get "stuck" fairly easily. Has anyone else stalled out at what I consider a fairly small weight loss? At least today I went and took a nice brisk walk on a track. It felt loke a step in the right direction anyway.

  2. Hi. I was banded May 29th and had the same concern. I needed to take 2 of those big pills twice a day. I was told it would be ok but then when I was seeing the Endocrenologist the day of the surgery, he told me that they were having great success with another med called Januvia. It is smaller and once a day. My Internist agreed that trying that would be fine. I am thrilled to say that 21 lbs. down I was then able to cut back to 1/2 Januvia once a day and I hope to be off soon. I am not at a good restriction yet but I my 2nd fill this afternoon so I am hoping... TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT YOUR MEDICATION CONCERNS. I HAVE FOUND THEY USUALLY HAVE A SOLUTION. Good luck!!

  3. Hi. I was scheduled for my surgery. The day before, I received a message on my machine that my surgery was being cancelled. The Surgeon was ill. I was completely freaked out by this. My mind was so set and I was really upset. I was rescheduled for the following week and I am now 7 weeks out from the surgery. I have lost 20 lbs and dont even have a fill yet. I feel better already. good luck. Being scared is normal. It is an awesome decision but one that has changed my life for the better!

  4. Hey Cyndilou! We were banded the same day! Great job on you rweight loss! I am down 20 pounds and I have my first fill on Monday. I cant wait because I have been sitting at 20 lbs for about 3 weeks now. Have you had a fill yet? I agree that the Dr. who said 20 to 50 lbs. must not be pro-band. Personally, I would think twice about having a Dr. with that attitude do my surgery. You really need support during this time...not pessimism.

  5. I was banded 6 weeks ago. My first fill was supposed to be today but got postponed until next monday. I think the radiologist went on vacation!!LOL! Anyway, I can pretty much eat anything now except bread which gives me that stuck feeling. The scarey thing is that at times, it doesnt weven seem like I have a band!! Sometimes I can eat more and sometimes less. I lost 20 pounds post op and have managed to keep it off but by the skin of my teeth!! Anyone experience this feeling before their first fill? Will it feel so much different after the fill? I hope so!:help:

  6. :)Hi Tidge. When I woke up in the recovery room, I remember the first thing I felt was this tremendous pain in my stomach (port sight!) and it wrapped around to my back. It was horrible!! I said to my Mom several times over the first week after surgery "what did I do to myself?" I would have never believed how different I would feel once I got about about 8 or 9 days out from the surgery. Things began to heal and I started feeling human again. I am almost 4 weeks out from surgery and still have tenderness and swelling in my port sight. I asked the Nurse Practitioner if this was normal. She said it is. I truly believe that when they attach the port to the muscle, it refers pain around to the bacK. A heating pad felt wonderful on my back. Give yourself time to heal. You will feel like a different person next week at this time!! Everyone reacts differently to surgery. I know some people that bounced back within a couple days. We, unfortunately, were not that lucky but it will get better! Best of everything to you.

  7. It wouldn't hurt to call the Nurse. I was having hunger a few days before my post op and I called and they let me have scrambled egg whites. If you can picture chewing an egg white?? But it stayed in my stomach a bit longer and helped with the hunger pangs. I would call if I were you. That is what they are there for and you wont know unless you ask. Good Luck!:clap2:

  8. I was banded 3 weeks ago and am feeling pretty good. The only thing is that my port is still sore. I am pretty sure this is normal but I get a funny pulling feeling in my side almost like I ran too much and got a stitch in my side. Anyone else experience this? It goes away and comes back periodically. It feels like it could be a muscle maybe???:help:

  9. I agree. I was not permitted to drive for 2 weeks. I know everyone is different but I did not start feeling even remotely like myself until I hit the 1 week point. Take care of yourself. Even though it is laproscopic, it is surgery. I am 3 weeks out from surgery and my port sight is still sore. Good luck!:scalesno:

  10. I am 3 weeks post banding and am craving strange things that I probably would not have eaten. I used to hate the smell of Doritos. Now I am craving the taste of them? Has anyone ever experienced this? It makes " bandster hell" all the harder to deal with. I am fighting to keep off the 18 lbs I lost since being banded but as I become hungrier, it is getting so hard!!:help:

  11. Hi. I am 16 days post surgery and was just advanced to soft foods. I have handled mushies fine and have become very hungry and have had no problems eating them. I just ate some very soft chicken and now I have pain in my back and in my stomach. Did I eat too much? I really dont have much restriction that I can tell but Maybe a bit more than I thought. Any one have any insight?:help:

  12. My back has been killing me since I woke up in the recovery room 2 weeks ago. At times, it is what has hurt the most. It is a nagging ache in my lower right side of my back. The nurses said it could be the positioning they had me in on the operating table. The only relief is to lay on a heating pad. Has anyone else had this problem??? It really is awful!:help:

  13. It may not be the same thing but I developed Oral Thrush after my surgery from the antibiotics they gave me in the hospital. Is your tongue coated? I felt like something was hanging down the back of my throat. Regardless, I would call your Doc.

  14. I am 2 weeks post op and just got advanced to mushies. I feel like I could eat continuously! I spoke to the nutritionist at my Drs. and she said the swelling is going down and I dont have restriction. She said this will be better after a fill but thats not for 4 plus weeks from now. I lost 17 lbs. and dont want to gain any back but I am nervous that I will! Any advice?:help:

  15. You will be fine. I was banded on May 29 and went through the same feelings you are. It is a huge decision to do what we are doing . I am on the pureed stage of food. Also know that you may have feelings afterward of "what did I do?" I did. I really believe that the discomfort and pain meds cause this. Again, this will pass and you wiill be so happy and proud of the courageous decision you have made. That is how I feel now and I am 2 weeks post op. Best of everything to you!:clap2:
