    African American Sleevers

Looking back, even though I would absolutely HATE to do it again, I would, I gotta get back to living life and not just watching it pass me by...It's not all that bad, It just felt really weird, the nurse told me to move my arms and feet to ease the weirdness, it helped some. Just looking forward to the end result I know I saw a few newly sleeved folks out there, Keeping you in my prayers for a speedy recovery! God is able!

    African American Sleevers

Hello everone! I haven't got a date yet, but I'm confident I'll get one soon! I'm still doing clearances. I just had to have a stress test and a psyc eval and I'm good to go. I did my stress test a few weeks ago, and I never want another one ever in life. That was so spooky laying there and my heart was racing like I had ran up a flight of steps everytime they pushed the meds in my IV. I just had 1 out of 3 of my psyc eval appointments today! I'm so excited because I feel like I'm getting closer to finally being able to enjoy my family and be more active. I want to take my children to Universal Studios and wear heels again

That's Awesome! I know you are so excited!! I haven't scheduled my sleeve yet, still going through my last clearance, but I have to lose a bit of weight before hand. This is what my dietician gave me to go by: PRE-SURGICAL liquid DIET Start date:1 week before your surgery date (unless told otherwise by your surgeon) · Drink 3 - 4 Protein drinks per day. (Refer to pages 22-25.) · Include 6 servings per day from the following food choices: o 1 cup skim milk, ½% milk or 1% milk o 1 cup tomato juice or regular V-8â juice o ½ cup plain oatmeal, Cream of Wheatâ or Cream of Riceâ, plain grits o 4 oz. sugar-free pudding o 6 oz. light yogurt o ½ cup unsweetened applesauce o Raw vegetables · Drink Water or sugar-free beverages as needed during the day such as water, broth, Crystal-Lightâ, sugar-free Jell-Oâ, decaffeinated coffee or tea. · Note: It is okay to use sugar substitutes (Splendaâ, Equalâ, Sweet-N-Lowâ, Truviaâ) during any stage of your diet, before or after surgery. Cinnamon is allowed in your hot Cereal. 2 days before your surgery date: Choose Protein Drinks, sugar-free pudding, skim milk, plain oatmeal, Cream of Wheatâ or Cream of Riceâ, plain grits, light yogurt, tomato juice, V-8 juice No applesauce or raw vegetables allowed Continue with above listed serving sizes The day before your surgery date: Choose water, apple juice, white grape juice, white cranberry juice, chicken or beef broth, Gatoradeâ, Jell-Oâ, popsicles, decaffeinated coffee or tea. NOTHING RED!! Sip liquids throughout the day. Aim for 64 ounces of Fluid (unless you have been told otherwise). You should have nothing by mouth after midnight the night before surgery. If you are instructed to take medications the morning of surgery, do so with only small sips of water. Hope this helps!! Good luck, I will keep you in my prayers
  5. Wow, I'm so sorry about the experiences you all have had. I'm glad I came to this forum because sometimes when you hear the comments people make about us, you feel like your the only one going through it at the time. I have many stories to tell. Some days I dare someone to say something about my weight, and other days I will break down and cry. One of the days I was ready to knock someone into the middle of next week was the time my family and I were at the mall. My husband is a large guy too and we had not eaten anything that day so we could go out to eat. We were standing in the line at the food court and this idiot walks past and says, "HEY, HEY, HEEEY" he and his friends were laughing, but that all ceased when his gaze met mine. I was NOT in the mood for nonsense that day. He stopped laughing and kept walking. I've had children be brutally honest in my daughters' school, one little girl walked up to me squeezed my arm and was saying, "tubby, tubby, tubby" *sigh* and the list goes on, but I try to stay positive and ask God to give me strength not to act on how I feel and he has done that, I'm not in any trouble LOL, but I really hurts to hear people be so insensitive and say hurtful things. I'm afraid to ride a plane, train, bus, anything with confined space because I don't think I could handle the embarrasment of not fitting.
  6. Thank u! Im really looking forward to this, I'm super excited to learn all I can before surgery.
  7. Hello everyone!! I am 33 years old, 471 pounds and tired of being overweight. I'm married and have two children, and one furkid. I want to do more with them on a daily basis, not just interacting with them daily, but running, rollerskating, hula hooping, and jump roping!! I miss doing those things. My girls have asked for us to take them to Disney World, but I know a large amusment park like Disney, there is no way I could go there and enjoy myself, I want their experience to be magical, not a nightmare because mommy got stuck in a turnstile or couldn't fit in the tea cups ...I have decided to have the bariatric sleeve surgery because I'm just tired of living my life this way, and it's just passing me by. I get angry when I think of all the time I've wasted being this way instead of taking action years ago and having this done. I sought out the source of my tremendous weight gain, and found it to be I am an emotional eater. Now that I have that in check, I think about how I'm feeling before I eat, instead of shoving food in my mouth. I'm done with one clearance which was a stress test and let me tell you, I never ever in life want another one of those. It freaked me out having my heart beat faster from the dobutamine being pumped into my IV, but I wasn't moving. I would have rather run around the bed a few times with the nurse on my back to get my heart rate up. Just one more to complete this Friday, my psychological test, I'm pretty confident about it, I feel that I have dealt with the emotional eating, but will continue to keep an eye on that to make sure I don't slip back into that. I'm one day into my pre-op diet because my doctor wants me to try to lose 30lbs before my surgery date. I'm surprised that I'm not hungry, I thought drinking protien and eating only once, I would be ravenous by the end of the day, I feel great!! I'm hoping to schedule by the begining of or mid-August. My insurance will approve the surgery with a BMI of 70 and co-morbidities with no 6-month requirement of documentation. My BMI is 70ish and I am on meds for high BP. I am looking forward to this surgery, I'm ready to get off the sidelines and start enjoying time with my family.
