I Need To Lose 150-180 Pounds, I Need Your Opinions!
I have over 150 lbs to lose also. I saw two different PA's at my surgeons office and they both strongly pushed the bypass on me. I freaked out for the week before surgery. Obviously I wanted to have the weight come off but I really started weighing the pros and cons. Even if I lost 60% instead of 75% of my excess body weight I would not have to deal with malabsorption with the sleeve. I had my surgery thursday morning and I am so very happy I stuck with my original choice. I have healed up so quickly and pain was so minimal to what I had thought it would be. Ive lost 12 pounds in 5 days. It really boils down to if you are commited to following the nutrition plan you will get your weight off. It might be more of a "strugle" since we dont have the malabsorption but if you do it right, you can get to your goal! Follow your heart!! Best of luck to you.

Internal Staple Issues In The Future
LOL, the metal detector was a joke. The worry in my statement was the staples coming loose and causing injury!!!
-
Internal Staple Issues In The Future
Thanks Mom2five! That is reassuring. I was hoping they wouldnt come lose and cause damage. That makes sense they will be held in place by the scar tissue.

Internal Staple Issues In The Future
Im not worried about the metal detectors since I dont fly (my dad was just being silly) but I was hoping they would possibly dissolve over time?
-
Internal Staple Issues In The Future
My dad made a joke about me setting the metal alarms off in the airport and I started thinking, how will these internal staples effect us in the future? From the picture they use a LOT of staples to hold our stomachs together after reducing them. SO can the staples come loose over time?

When Does Hunger Come Back?
That is reassuring to learn that when the hunger comes back, it isn't the same as before the surgery. I would get weak and extremely moody when I got hungry. I was a nightmere to be around :/ As for stimulating the appetite, I actually have no idea. I didn't ever think that would be a problem but I can see how that would make meeting your daily goals very difficult. Hopefully someone on here will have an answer for you AMW157. That has to be rough.

Four Days Away From Meeting My New Self.
I feel the exact same way Jordann! I just had surgery thursday morning and I cant believe how my biiggest addiction (food) which was always on my mind, has now become the furthest thing from my mind. I have found this process to be so much easier than I had thought although still early, getting through surgery and the week that follows was terrifying but things have been moving along very well! I hope for you the best on your journey! The sleeve is such an amazing tool and definitely can make dreams come true! Keep us posted on your journey

Clear Liquid Stage, Must Try!
my husband is so against me having any protein because it isnt listed on my clear list. Did you surgeon say it was ok to consume during the first week after surgery? I wonder if the protein is too hard to digest for a new pouch?

Slushy
Sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing. I have a question for you, is the protein tube something that can be consumed on the clear stage diet the foirst week after surgery? Im desperate for some protein for energy.

When Does Hunger Come Back?
Maybe it is the flavor instead of the food! My husband makes these insane meals for him and my son. They smell so delicious and although I really enjoy the smell, I no longer have that overwhelming feeling to stuff myself. Or even try a bite for that matter!! Watching them eat has no effect on my appetite. In my 31 years I have never felt like this. Thank God for the sleeve. I really hope I can continue to not feel hunger.

Scared.
Depends on your surgeon if you will have a drain, mine did not give me one. I was so terrified about the surgery. I was such a pessimist and had thoughts that everything would go wrong possibly ending in death but my surgery was unbelievable! I had bad pain for the first 2 hrs and then after that the pain meds made the pain totally bearable. I tried to be super positive after surgery with a can do attitude and it really helped. I got home yesterday and Ive been doing great. Constantly drinking, lotsof walking and lots of visualizing. It has helped so much. I wish you a calm mind and a quick recovery! My thoughts are with you!

When Does Hunger Come Back?
Thanks for sharing Likas! I would be very happy to continue having no appetite until 8 months out! I was so scared pre surgery that I wouldnt be able to handle a liquid diet for an extended time but I get so full from liquids and have no desire to eat. I was suprised! Im only 4 days out though, I hope it lasts.
-
Amazing!
That's really interesting you mentioned this. I just made a post asking when the hunger comes back after surgery. I had surgery very early thursday morning and prior to that I was on all liquids for two days. I dont even think about food anymore. When I imagine having to eat in a couple weeks I wonder if Ill want to. So strange how the appetite is completely gone...
