  1. Indegestion is a very common issue after being sleeve. My dr. perscribed me prilosec and told me to start taing it as soon as I got home and it has helped so much! You can buy it over the counter. I was just sleeved thursday and the pills do not bother my tummy at all. I hope you find some relief!
  2. I am really curious as to when hunger comes back after surgery? Please share!!
  3. Jonathan, Thank you so much for mentioning the carbs, I had absolutely no idea! Im not suppose to have that kind of sugar either. When I saw the ensure was a clear liquid with protein I was so focused on it being clear I didnt check the label. I definitely dont want to be putting that much sugar in my new little sleeve, I will have to try the nectar, where can I purchase it? Thanks again!!
  4. im only three days out and I am worried because I have no desire for food. I was always thinking about food but I havent the last few days. I wonder if it takes a week to get your appetite back? I wish I could help you but I am not sure when the hunger kicks back in. Hopefully someone cant let us both know!
  5. Very lucky! I also am so very happy I did this !
  6. haragl, Great job on the mile. I hope to be able to do this very soon!!
  7. I couldnt eat the hospital broth but as soon as they released me I went to Target and got a pre made concentrated broth by Knorr called homestyle stock beef flavored. It is so tasty and goes down so smooth. I also was worried about the lack of protein but I found ensure clear that has 9 grams of protein. I cant have protein shakes so I was stoked to find a clear drink with some protein in it. In addition it has a ton of vitamins since I cant take my chewables until 8 days after surgery.
  8. Thank you:) I am really suprised how well things are moving along!
  9. I didnt want anything but tea and water after surgery. I found the hospital broth and crystal light gross. I just went to the store and picked up Knorr Homestyle Stock and Ensure Clear Liquid peach flavor. The broth is seriously the best tasting broth I have ever had and I found the clear ensure to be tasty and it has 9 grams of protein. Its hard to find things easy to drink after surgery but these two are winners in my book!
  10. I had the worst anxiety about getting the sleeve. I have always been nervous by nature and the last three months I spent in a complete state of stress and worry. I just got home from the hospital an hour ago and I feel great! My surgery was on the 27th and they kept me for two nights. Ill admit the first few hours out of surgery were the worst but still tolerable. I was up walking around 2 hours later. It was actually funny because I was walking so much my nurse had to ask me to go back to the room and rest lol! The first few things I tried to swallow hurt but i adjusted when I took smaller sips. I dont know if its a good or bad thing but today I found myself taking regualr drinks of water with no pain. I really wanted to post this because I was so worried about the pain and problems that can come along with this procedure. Reading others experiences gave me hope I really thought I would have a much harder time than I did!
  11. I had my surgery yesterday morning and it went excellent!!! The PA's were totally wrong and the surgeon did not try to talk me out this surgery. He was incredibly supportive and thought I would do very well with the sleeve!!! Such a huge relief. I get to go home tomorrow and I feel so much better than I thought I would! Im so happy

I made it through alive!!! So stoked and ready to get this weight off!!!
  13. Thank you both! Surgery went to well. There was a lot of pain at first but I feel so much better today!
  14. I should be excited but so many things have happened this last week the latest being this evening we found out my Husband (who injured his back and been out of work for two weeks) has degenerating disk t1 - t5 and a enlarged node on his spine. He has to go meet with an orthopedic surgeon and discuss his options, he is only 26 . When it rains it pours. I could really use prayers right now. I just hope I can get through surgery so I can take care of him. It all seems so incredibly overwhelming...
  15. the nutritionist told me not to have beans until after three months out. Did your surgeon give you a list of the foods you can have at different stages? I know there is a lot of different opinions depending on the surgeon!
  16. I only have insurance through October and then only my husband will be covered through work. I dont want to risk not being able to have surgery by shopping around. I am completely confident in him as a surgeon, he has so much experience. My issue is as Kali mentioned, Maybe he doesn’t think I can adhere to the diet and get the weight off and maybe I should listen to him. It’s easy to doubt myself because of multiple failed experiences in the past ya know? I was 100lbs over weight by 4th grade. Ive never eaten healthy for an extended period of time, so maybe that is the concern. I will have a chance to retrain myself and teach myself new eating habits without the insatiable hunger I experience all the time. I just have to have faith in myself and realize I’m capable. I’ve been able to stay on this ridiculous pre op diet so that should say something about my determination to make this process work for me. I just have to keep my head up and my eye on the goal here.
  17. Thanks for all the information Rick, I appreciate it!
  18. It does seem strange but I did all of my preop with PA's at his office. I originally asked my dr. about the surgery and based on my Insurance he sent me to this office. They are the only ones near me that accept my insurance. Sigh, Im really really glad he does this surgery so often because the more I find out from others the more I see discrepincies in my experience...
  19. Thats frustrating SassySleever, I wont even meet my surgeon until right before surgery. That doesnt seem normal? but I dont know. I do know they are busy because him and his partner have done over 6,000 weightloss surgery procedures combined. I guess thats why he has P.A.'s do everything!
  20. Thanks and best of luck to you LadyK, I hope we can keep up with each others process
  21. Stay positive and good luck!!
  22. Thanks Kathe, so true!! Cbt, She was very clear that the complication was my bmi being to high to have successful weightloss, or as successful of weightloss as I would with the gastric bypass. They will still do the surgery on me because I dont have diabetes (they would not give me the sleeve if I had diabetes) but want me to be aware I most likely wont reach my goal according to my bmi. They just seem so negative. She reassured me that I could come back and get the duodonel switch to reach my weightloss goals... *PFT* I have a fire lit under me to prove them wrong!!
  23. Thank you all so much for the suggestions and your personal info! I feel I shouldnt have to change my path because of their opinion and hearing from all of you gave me a much needed confidence boost. I am going to get the sleeve, I will just have to stick to my decision come time the surgeon lays it on me. Thanks again <3
  24. Im not sure besides the fact they think its not effective on people with BMI's over 40. SO discouraging:( Thanks for the response!
