  1. Unfortunately after you lose the weight, they will still call you names...but at least they'll have to stop using your weight as ammo.
  2. Yes, it's very common not to have a BM for several days after surgery. Especially if you are on pain meds; they are known for blocking you up. At this point though, you should take something to make yourself have a BM, you don't want to go too long without one.
  3. You aren't even three weeks out yet. 8lbs may not be as fast as some, but it isn't slow. It's nearly three pounds a week. Three weeks out is a tough time to be at both mentally and physically. I promise you it gets better. You will lose this weight. Don't concentrate on how much/how fast, just concentrate on doing the right things and it will come off. It may not come off as fast as you think it should, but that doesn't mean your sleeve isn't working. Hang in there!
  4. I'm right there with you on the hair loss. It is definitely unnerving. Just keep reminding yourself that it is temporary. Other than the ones you've already mentioned, iron is also important for stopping hair loss.
  5. Oh okay, I would say it's totally normal then. When you are first sleeved, the nerves are severed during the surgery. It takes them awhile to heal and during that time most people don't experience hunger at all. Even those who think they do, are often only experiencing excess acid. Chances are you will feel hungry again after your tummy has fully healed, however it likely won't be like it was pre-op. I still get hungry, but it's a very manageable hunger now and it takes very little food to fill me up. I'm about five months out.
  6. Some people don't really have hunger after the sleeve. Others do. It also tends to make a difference how far out from surgery you are.
  7. You are only 3.5 weeks out and you've averaged well over 3.5 lbs a week. This is not a slow loss! If you think it's a slow loss, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. I would LOVE to be losing over 3.5 lbs a week.
  8. I was sleeved in July also and my hair is falling out like crazy now. It is definitely unnerving. I've even had a couple of nightmares about going completely bald. lol! My hair is my signature. It's the thing people know me by because it is extremely long (almost to the floor) so losing it in huge clumps like this is traumatic. I'm consoling myself with the fact that it is temporary. Hang in there, we'll get through it!
  9. aww, I hope you feel better! If it doesn't seem like a stomach bug, pay attention to what you eat and make note of any foods that cause you to have a worse problems. Have you ever had gallbladder issues? Diarrhea can be one of the symptoms of gallbladder troubles, that's why I ask. Hopefully, it's just a bug and it's almost run it's course and you'll wake up tomorrow feeling fabulous.
  10. Like most women, I have a range of sizes taking up space in the closet. Today I started going through clothes I haven't been able to wear in years. I was amazed at how many of them fit! Some of them I am sad to say I've nearly missed out on because they are basically already too big on me. Even my smallest clothes are oh so close to being publicly wearable. I can't believe it! When I look at myself in the mirror I can't really see much of a difference, but fitting into these clothes made it real to me. I really am losing this weight! I want to jump up and down!
  11. Wow, that's great! I'm happy for you!!
  12. Did you possibly eat or drink something that was red and might have just looked like blood? Have you ever had ulcers? I would definitely get this checked by a doctor. I know $500 is a lot of money, but your life is worth far more than that.
  13. This is a TRUE story --- it's not a scam or a joke. The mother of this girl is an active poster on MFP (PlumCrazyGirl). Kimberly is 15 years old and attended high school in Tabernacle NJ. She ran away from a youth residential facility located in Trenton NJ on Friday, 11/16/2012 . It wasn't until Monday 11/19/2012 when the social worker informed her mother of the disappearance. She is approximately 5ft 6", 125-130lbs, long dark hair and blue eyes. We are reaching out to all social media sites we can for awareness. Your prayers for her safety and return is most appreciated. Thank you.

  15. I was worried about clots too. I flew from Boston all the way to San Diego; clear across the country! Thankfully, I had no issues.
  16. Welcome to the board! I'm sure you will be very happy with your sleeve
  17. Yes, I live just outside of Boston. I love it here too Well, except for the cold. lol. How did you and hubby meet?
  18. Welcome to the board. It sounds like it's challenging to be sleeved where you are. You can cross one "no" off your list; you now have a group of people to support you, right here! Come chat with us anytime you need to meet up with like-minded people, have questions, struggles, and triumphs!
  19. I know it's soo hard in the first few weeks, but hang in there. I promise it gets better!
  20. I had my surgery in Mexico as well. I did not have any complications. While leaks and complications can happen to anyone with any surgeon, most of the surgeons in Mexico have performed this surgery many more times than most of the surgeons in the United States. I think that one of the reasons that US surgeons may have more complications is because they have less experience performing the surgery.
