  1. You guys are so helpful...thank you... My doc has the bedside manner of Dr. Gregory House... I dont like him at all, but he is the guy my insurance covers... I weigh every Monday and saw a loss today and feel better... This is HARD... Anyone who thinks this is an easy solution has no idea of how hard the behavior modification is... I throw up if I eat one bite too much...and right now, dont always recognize the full cue.

  2. ... And a little regret. I was sleeved on 10/22... I am down 38lbs... I do 30-45 min on the treadmill daily... I saw my doctor on Tuesday and he chastised me for losing too slowly... He had me on fish and eggs until Tuesday, but I jumped ahead to chicken because I was sick of fish and eggs... I have been eating high Protein, very little carbs averaging about 625 calories per day... My weight loss *has* slowed although my clothes fit better..

Now I am worried that I won't continue to lose and all this pain, frustration and throwing up will have been for an " only" loss of 40ish lbs... If this is it for weight loss, then I regret the surgery... It would be worth losing up to goal - 100lbs but not for 38-40lbs (depending on the scale).

I could just be down because I tried to eat my dinner very slowly and carefully and still threw up. I miss food.< /p>

  3. I was sleeved on 10/22... I still don't have a good understanding of FULL...but know exactly the feeling of OVER full... With me, it's a feeling as though something is stuck in my chest, not my throat... and the difference between full and this horrible feeling can be as little as one more bite.

My NUT jokingly says, "Eat until you are full, but stop two bites before..." That is exactly what I have to do... I am getting better at eyeballing the amount I should eat... and I stop before I feel "full" because I don't exactly have this feeling. But I know if I eat ONE BITE past this ... non feeling, then I was have the uncomfortable pain feeling in the chest that is only alleviated by throwing up. I also get this feeling if I eat too fast or don't chew well enough. Such is the life of a sleever.

  4. So... I was sleeved on 10/22... and sometimes feel discouraged because I am "only" down 36.5lbs... BUT. Today? I went into a back closet at home and am wearing an outfit that I have not worn in ... oh, heck, I have no idea - a LONG time. And? When I saw my primary care physician two weeks ago, my blood pressure was low enough that she took me off of my blood pressure meds... and told me to check in in two weeks to see how I was doing. I stopped in the office today and my BP was 120/79. NO MORE HBP!

So, although the weight is not "dropping" off as fast as I had imagined, I am off of two medications, wearing smaller clothes, and have been working out DAILY on the treadmill. Life is good.

  5. I am six weeks post op... I have tried:

    Bariatric Advantage

    Premier Protein

GNC powder and ready to drink

    Unjury

    Oh Yeah

    Chike

    Syntrax

    Muscle Milk

    Max Protein

    Rockin' Refuel

    BSN Syntha

    Syntrax Matrix

    Protizyme

    Nashua Nutrition

    Click

    BSN Lean

... and probably a few I cannot remember. And? I hate them ALL.

    They are all too sweet!

I am almost LIKING Isopure zero carb alpine punch... It kind of tastes like (to me) cranberry juice mixed with a dry white wine... Served ice cold, it had a gag-free refreshing tartness.

If you are also having a hard time stomaching uber sweet shakes, you might like this. BTW, it's kinda pricey in my opinion...

  6. Your posting of this could not be timelier (is that a word?) anyway, on my to-do list today was to go and buy some of the Isopure zero carb to try... I am six weeks out and having a hard time getting my Protein in and I am ABSOLUTELY SICK of my Protein shakes...they are so sweet and after 5 weeks straight (2 weeks pre op and 3 weeks post op) just the smell of them makes me gag.

I am going to try a couple of flavors and see if I can tolerate them. Thanks!

  7. How far out are you, Donny? I want to work out so bad. I still have 2 weeks until I'm cleared. I worked out before I had a baby (he's 2 mos) then I had surgery so it's been a very long time. I'm so weak! I can't wait to get some muscle tone back!

Wow, you are encouring to me... I am also six weeks out, but only allowed eggs and fish and am truly getting tired of them. It is hard to get my Protein in without a daily shake - and I am REALLY tired of the uber sweet Protein shakes. I suffered a stall of my own - I weigh on Mondays and this last weigh in, I was 2lbs UP... I think I was eating too many carbs, although my total caloric intake was about 630 per day. I wonder if I am not eating enough?

  8. "I would listen to what your doctor says instead of asking relative stangers on the Internet for advice on your medical care"

I hear what you are saying, but I like to ask others because my doctor (the only one covered by my insurance) is not at ALL approachable and answers very few questions, and those he does with attitude. He prides himself in being "tough" and has a, "because I said so..." approach. I am not four, and am much more compliant when I understand the reasons behind the directions.... I have found this board invaluable for getting insight to how OTHER doctors relate to their patients. My doctor has the bedside manner of Dr. Gregory House. He may be a good surgeon, but he is not a kind man.

  9. My doc says I should eat 70 grams of Protein and less than 30 grams of carbs each day. But not to worry about calories.

Do you count protein grams? Carbohydrates? Calories? None of the above? Today marks my sixth week post op... I weigh myself on Mondays and today I am UP 2lbs. I am trying not to get discouraged... but it seems as though everyone does it differently... I know that last week I ate more than 30 grams of carbs a couple of days, but my caloric intake total was still around 650 calories... would this account for the weight gain?

  10. Every nut & doc is different on the dietary guidelines. In the begining I was told to eat when I felt "empty" by the list of foods and at what stage. Then it went to okay log everything including portion and time of day. (Didn't understand that then' date=' the time of day thing now I do) Now it is NO SNAKING and NO FRUITS. Three meals and at least 1100 calories. Well needless to say I barely meet the 1100 cals. By everything that has been checked I'm in very, very good health. Then to top it off my primary is completly amazed at how well I have done. All in all it is good.... (I was eating watermelon and cantalope at 12 weeks. Oh it tasted so good!!!!!!!!!!)[/quote']

What is SNAKING? And why is the time of day important?
