On Day 15 of a 4 week liquid pre-op diet. Lost 11.7 pounds got 12 more to go. I have cheated but planned to because of the holidays. I didn't go and binge, but had a small portion, mainly Protein. My gain was Water which disappeared by morning thanks to blood pressure meds, gotta live those diuretics. The scale is still going down in the right direction. My surgery is Jan 9 th in Gävle, Sweden.

Hello just wanted to chime in and say the UK ounce is slightly more than the US ounce. 1US cup=8 US ounces but 8 UK ounces = 7.68 US ounces
Had a measuring pitcher that had US/UK/Metric and noticed the difference in the markings. I always thought it was the same but, apparently not.
Not a huge difference but good to know, especially if liquid medications are involved.

MekeC I started in April with the referral, group meeting in August, meet surgeon in November and finally a date! Pretty much the whole time just waiting, I had no special meetings or requirements other than the pre op diet and labs. Yay! Our wait is finally coming to an end

It's been a while since I posted last, as I haven't had much to share. Well, now I am happy to say that I've got a date! January 9th!!!
The scheduler called me this afternoon, I almost didn't answer because it was an "unknown caller" and I was just waking up from a nap. But I answered and was given the date! So unreal, especially since I was half awake and I had to repeat everything she said and write it down as she confirmed it, lol! So now I will have a 4 week liquid only diet starting on Dec 9th, and must lose 23 pounds before the surgery.
I'm excited and still in a daze that I have a date!

Hello All!
I think I can finally say I'm having surgery in between Jan and Feb 2014! I met with the surgeon today and after him asking me around 4-5 times throughout the consultation if I was ready for this surgery and the life changes it brings, he finally asked if I would like to be put on the list to be scheduled for RNY after Jan 1st. I smiled and answered for the final time "Yes Please!"
I am so excited and nervous all rolled into one! It's finally happening! I will be contacted sometime between now and then by the surgery nurse as to when I need to start a 4wk liquid diet, appt with anesthesiologist, dietary and preop labs. The surgeon said the reason for 4wk liquid diet is to prove my motivation for having surgery, I have to lose 23lbs. Never thought I'd look forward to a liquid diet but right now I'm in "Bring it on!" mode, I'm so happy it's happening!

Hi, Just found this group and hoping you all are still around :-) I've been a member of VST for about a year, when I started researching WLS and the VSG in particular. At that time I was in California and was planning to be a self-pay and head down to TJ. But the opportunity for my dream move presented itself and I now live in beautiful Sweden. I am now waiting for my information/surgeon meeting on Weds and hope to have a surgery date soon

Yay you! Praying all goes well! Can't wait to get to say "Yay me!" but luckily you will be able to say that shortly! Congrats!

I have pretty much avoided being in pictures for years, when I did take them I usually hid behind everyone or stategically placed one of the kids in front of me. Then I was sad as I went thru pics and didn't have me and my kids together. Now even though I'm still heavy and am coming to terms with this is how I really look. I am embracing it because I know I am changing it soon. I want to remember what it was like, how I looked and felt about. So once the pounds begin to shed I can see where I came from and where I'm going. I don't love my size now, but I don't hate myself either, I've been thru alot in my life and I give myself credit and love for making it thru. Yeah the pounds added up, but now as I feel better about me, I am ready to take the pounds off. I've put everyone first and now I love me and am putting myself first.
I know I won't be perfect, I will most likely sag and droop but it beats how I feel now, big, saggy and droopy, lol, so I will just subtract the "big" from that equation. If I think I need plastics, then I will do just that

Please go to the ER better to be a safe hypochondriac. Have you passed gas yet? Regardless go get checked out and let us know how it went. Some drs feel they know more than you, but I beg to differ, you know your body better than anyone.

Don't worry, you will rock those not so famous white pants. Then have to put them away shortly after, since they will be much too big

Congratulations! A double Blessing! You will definitely be lighter after delivery. I was 10lbs less than my prepregnancy weight after the birth of my last baby.
Happy and Healthy 9months! Wow! Twins!

I'm not sleeved yet but I am a nurse. I wonder if you could be having low blood sugar/hypoglycemia. I'm not diabetic but when I don't get food in after a certain amount of hours I get nauseous and feel like I want to vomit. I run on the low side blood sugar wise so when I don't eat it hits me. The solution for me is to eat something but never sugary foods or drink that makes me even worse. I usually have a piece of cheese and lunchmeat, something basic.
Have you asked your surgeon or nutritionist about this? I'm sure the experienced sleevers here should have better insight on the matter than me. Hope you feel better soon and find your answer
