  1. I haven't told alot of people, but out of the one's I did tell, I've really only come across one that is very negative about me doing it. Unfortunately, it is my step-mom, who would have been great to have on my side. I think, if you are talking to a person who has struggled with their weight, they are supportive, but for someone that has NEVER struggled, those tend to not understand why diet and exercise alone will not work for us. I am greatful for those that are so supportive of my decision and look forward to hearing my step-mom's comments post op

    Not Sure Whats Wrong

{{HUGS}} This too shall pass. Just keep trying. At your appointment, explain to the NUT how you are feeling and ask for help. This is what they are there for. Don't postpone appointments, because insurance companies that require 3 and 6 month managed diets also require that your appointments are no more than 30-33 days apart. If they are, they won't count. (Just FYI). You are choosing surgery because you have struggled on everything else....STRUGGLED NOT FAILED! The bariatric employees know all of this and are there for you...not the other way around. You ARE worth something and you CAN do this girls. Hang in there
  3. Might want to find some other spice...tobasco can irritate the stomach post op. Though, if you are just doing it for pre-op, and plan to set it aside post-op, that is ok.
  4. Pretty strict...if it won't go through a straw, I can't have it. No sodas or alcohol though...lol I can have low fat creamy Soups and blenderize chunks, which is nice. I can have SF Jello and SF popsicles, but no SF pudding, which I was really disappointed about. And this struck me as odd, since they say to crush meds postop and mix in unsweetened applesauce, but I can't have that preop 1st 3 days, hunger wise weren't too terrible, but I developed headaches each day and had a heck of a time with focusing/concentrating on anything. Now that I am past that 3-4 day hump, I think my body has adjusted. Getting better concentration and no more headaches
  5. So my office decided this morning to shut down for lunch and have a pizza and popcorn party! Day 5 of 14 liquids...I had my lovely protein shake which normally fills me up, but the heavenly aromas surrounding me in the break room are making my stomach growl like crazy. Finally locked myself in my office! Just say NO

    Liquid Diet

Started my 2week pre-op today too. Not too bad, getting ready to have some SF pudding so belly won't growl and keep me awake My NUT told me adding fruit to the Protein shakes is fine as long as it is well blended. I can also have low fat creamy Soups...cream of potato, shrimp, chicken, ect...just have to blend any chunks up very well. I am adding unjury unflavored Protein powder to everything, which is helping me keep from getting too hungry. I found that 1/2 serving of the Unjury with 32oz Water with Tangerine/orange MIO flavoring to sip all day does wonders and tastes delish Had 64oz worth of that today.

    Charlotte Nc Area?

I have the dreaded Cigna, which likes to take their sweet time. Had an acceptance at 31 days! Required 6 month medical management when I started, but recently changed to 3 months. By the time I'll have my surgery, I will have been going for this for 1 year and 2 weeks I started out just wanting to try on my own under medical management, but at my 6 month mark, decided to go ahead with surgery. If I would have started out with my mind set on surgery, I would probably be post op by now I had to complete nutritionist visits, psych visit, exercise physiologist visit, barium swallow, blood work, cardiologist visit, which turned into a stress test. All of this tacked on extra time for me.

Been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner, has thickened my hair a bit, and started Biotin 2 weeks ago. One thing I did notice, the Biotin seems to have the tendency to make you a bit constipated. Drink LOTS of water I've noticed less hair in my brush and stronger nails

    October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Add me to October 15th I am 43 years old, married, no human children (just the 4-legged variety). Starting weight 238lbs, 5'2". Weight right now is 215lbs. Start my 2 week liquid diet October 1st. I reside in Rock Hill, South Carolina and will be having the surgery at Presbyterian Main in Charlotte, NC with Dr. Voellinger.
  21. Got my date for surgery...October 15th! They called me this morning at work to set it all up. Dr. Voellinger had actually approved me to only have to do one week of pre-op diet and could have had my surgery next Tuesday, which would have been awesome only having to do one week and then getting to have it so soon, but I just couldn't do that to my peeps at work. Also, my husband will want to take off 2 days for my surgery too, and that is short notice for him too. And my mother is going to come and stay with me for a few days after I am home, and I thought giving her a little notice would be a fine idea too So, I am having it the day after my 25th year high school reunion weekend...lol. Good thing I am on the reunion committee and went to the caterer tasting....so I was able to taste what will be at the main event on that Saturday night! Won't get to do hotdogs and hamburgers at the Friday night homecoming game tailgate party...oh, well....I already know what those taste like Supposed to receive my packet by the end of this week and that will tell me everything I need to know, including when I have to attend my pre-op class, when to arrive for surgery and what time the surgery will be. I am SOOOOOO excited
