  1. For all who have or are going through a stall - THANK YOU for sharing your stories. I am so frustrated. I was sleeved on 8/25 and have lost a total of 21 lbs since AND I have been stalled going on 3 weeks now. I keep thinking maybe my doc did not cut enough or maybe my stomach has stretched back out or maybe I'm doing something wrong. I guess I thought my weight loss should be greater by now but since reading everyone else who was sleeved around the same time, I guess I'm on track. I'm still frustrated and can't wait for this stall to be over...

  2. I had my sleeve on Monday August 25th. I have had pain ever since they took me off the pain pump at the hospital. I cannot tolerate the liquid pain meds it gives me Migraines and very vivid dreams. Having major problems getting in any medications. Doing my best at getting down the fluids. I have only had one Protein Shake today. I am at a total loss and I am scared to death that I will not feel any better. Was anyone else given a binder at the hospital to wear?

Hi, my surgery was also 8/25. I feel exactly as you do. I did get a binder and it helps me a great deal. I can't wait to be over this pain period. I feel so helpless in this process right now...

  4. August 25th at 11am for me! Excited and nervous at the same time. First time in my life I have no control over what is happening. LOL! Anyone else feel that way? I can not wait to start feeling "normal". I've adapted to this body for so many years and am looking forward to the changes to come. You mean to tell me not everyone gets winded going up steps? People are not constantly tired and people actually enjoy exercise? Shut yo' mouth! Can't wait!

  5. Hi, I just find out my PCP doctor is on vacation and I can't get recommendation letter till next Monday and my surgery is next Thursday 7/24. I think I'm bummed . I will never get approval from insurance in 2 days

Go to your nearest urgent care. They can take care of you. That's what I did. Worked for me!

  6. hi girl I also have Cigna. I am doing my supervised visits, on august 4 th I will have my 4th visit (only needed three) however, they do not equal to 89 days or more? Did you do the supervised NUT?

Yep, I did. Same thing with the 4 visits so it would be 89+ days. Is this your last step before going to insurance? Make sure you get a letter of recommendation from your PCP. I didn't have that and that slowed me up a few days.

  7. My approval from Cigna was really quick. It was my doctor's office that gave the challenge. It took them submitting paperwork to Cigna 3x to get my approval.... their fax machine apparently was not submitting all of the needed pages. Two denial and ONE approval letter later, here I stand awaiting my date from the doctor's office. Hopefully I will have something tomorrow.

Yes, I am. I almost didn't know what to say when they finally said APPROVED!

  8. I know you are glad the process is over.... now waiting on our survey date... Congratulations!!!

  9. My job is fairly physically demanding. I'm on my feet for about 8-10 hours a day. I push heavy fixtures around, lift 30-50lbs fairly regularly. A lot of climbing stairs. Realistically, I know I should take the entire time (I did too much after my C-section and regretted it), but the longer I'm out the more work will be waiting for me when I return!

I absolutely get it. My work is going to be there whether I take 1 week or 6 weeks off. I will only get one shot at this so I am going to take my full allotted time and use it to learn the new me!

  10. Have they told you how long to expect to be out of work? Renee told me 6 weeks. I asked if she thought there would be any way I'd be ready at 4 weeks and she said I'd have to talk to Dr. Page. Just wondering how set in stone he is.

I expected 6 weeks from the beginning. I had a friend who returned after 4 weeks who had her surgery at Mt. Carmel. She said she was exhausted and wish she would have done her full six. I think it varies by person.

  11. Mhenne97, our surgery dates should be pretty close to each other. Renee just called me yesterday with an August 13th date! I do my pre-op testing and meet again with Dr. Page on August 7.

I'm getting very excited! And congrats to you.

I sure hope. I am ready to get this show on the road. My insurance took forever to provide approval due to not receiving all of their needed paperwork. Not too happy about that. Needless to say it all finally worked out. Galad you got your date. Wouldn't that be something if we were scheduled around tje same time. I would live it. I will keep you updated - praying I hear something tomorrow.

  12. I has the sleeve. I would personally never consider the band... Too high of a failure rate from what I understand. The program requires full liquids for two weeks post op. Then can move up to thicker, pudding consistency type fluids for another week. Then to soft foods like grounds meats. Full regular diet including eating nuts doesn't come until after 8 weeks post op.

Yeah, that is why I opted for sleeve vs lap band. Good luck to you!

  13. I am doing very well. I have been controlling the pain with just Tylenol for the last two days. I hate the percocets anyway. No complications. No surprises. My lap sites are starting to get itchy...lol. Overall a very positive experience.

That is awesome to hear. Glad to hear that your pain is minimal. Did you have sleeve or lap band? How are you doing with your diet? Are you on full liquids still?

  14. I live in Columbus. Dr. Sonnanstine at Riverside did my surgery a week ago 6/30/14.

How are you feeling? Finally received my approval from insurance today! Took a bit longer than I expected. I will be at Mt. Carmel West. I should be getting my surgery date within the next couple of days.

  15. Wow I feel like I am reading a sneak peak into my own story. I am a fat healthy chick. Here I sit 5 ft 2in 284 oozing more confidence than ladies half my size. Active, but beat afterwards. Waiting for my approval from insurance for a July date. I pray that my story ends up exactly like yours. I was afraid when I came across your title that it was going to be a story of how your health went downhill after surgery - so glad that was not the case. Keep rocking it out sister!

  16. My surgery is on June 5th and I am looking forward to the time off work too! I don't feel guilty at all! I get to focus on my new start and all it's changes. I am really so excited! I watched a full gastric sleeve surgery on YouTube last night. I also love coming on here to learning and relating to others on the same journey as I am. This is a life changing time for us all and I don't think we should feel guilty for taking time out for ourselves and our health!

Amen to that! I am so excited for you. I am looking at the end of June for my surgery. Please keep us updated on your progress. How long are you planning to take off work?

  17. I think my problem is that I am so used to doing everything and being there for everyone that it is very difficult for me to not be able to help and to do things. Maybe if I could have kind of had my time off in a little house by myself I would have enjoyed it more? But when you have a child and there are things going on that you just can't do, well I felt guilty for not being able to do what I usually do. It all worked out and my daughter actually adapted really well and was very compassionate towards me.

    I think it's a mom thing!

I totally understand. I'm a mom as well, of two boys. My husband is definitely going to have an experience on his hands. Luckily I have amazing support from my family and friends that can pitch in and support him while I am down. Definitely going to be a transition going from doer to downer. LOL! Best of luck to your success!
