We are going on a cruise may 2013 and I can't wait to get a sexy evening gown to wear! It will our 10 year wedding anniversary and I really want to wow my hubby
-
You know what? We r human... I swore to myself when I had this surgery that I wouldn't be perfect in my eating... I mean can we really expect ourselves to resist everything all of the time? If i had one chicken strip, I'd enjoy the little that I had an move on. I'd be sure to make extra healthy choices the next few days in fear of falling into an old habit trap, but we should allow ourselves a little something now and again. As long as it doesn't make us sick...

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
MamaT replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surg was 4/24 and I am down 18 lbs! I feel good and had someone at work tell me that my face looks thinner so I guess that's my first nsv? Lol i have been struggling getting my protein drinks in, but I'm workin on it. I had my first incident with stuck food.. Started mushies late last week and obviously wasn't ready.. I was in agony for about 6 hours, so I learned from that to take it slower. -
I went back two weeks post op. I am a nurse on a heavy post op med/surg floor, and the first two nights I can say I was sore, but I was glad to get back into a routine. The one condition I had going back was NO LIFTING. My coworkers knew that I had my sleeve done so I have no issues asking anyone for help. In fact last week I had a small elderly lady who probably was 80 lbs soaking wet, and u went to reposition her and a coworker walked by and saw me and immediately stepped in and did the moving for me. Also, keeping up in hydration is a challenge. I have water bottles at my work station and the nurses station so I always have water nearby. If you don't think you will have support and coworkers helping you out when it comes to lifting and moving patients, you may want to take that extra time off... Good luck! There are so many of us night shifters here!! ????

Red Swollen Incision

Call him. You never want to ignore a sudden change like that. -
What are all the moms here doing for mothers day? It's almost strange for me NOT to focus a holiday around food, so I was curious as to what everyone will be doing....

Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
MamaT replied to boredswfl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Miguel Silva - he works out of Columbia Presbyterian in NYC and The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ which is where I had my sleeve. I highly recommend him and his entire staff!! -
So my first night back was good but shortened... I got cancelled! It hardly ever happens to me, but I'm glad I did because I was very sore after working only the first 4 hours of my usual 12 hr shift. I kept two bottles of water with my name one it, one at the nurses station and the other at my workstation so I made sure to keep sipping. Tonite I'll be back for the full 12 so today I'm gonna just chill out. Thanks again!

Thank you- you just made my day! Thank u!!! I am preparing my meals now hahaa- I work on a med/surg floor and some of my post ops can be heavy (not just weight wise, task wise lol) but I plan on asking for help where before I would usually not. My coworkers all know my journey ( I was on my own floor postop) so I know they will help me out. BTW, there is another night shift RN that I've spoken to here.. IrishMama and she is an L&D nite nurse too' lol Happy Nurses Week!!!
-
I wanted I know how all of my fellow night shifters are doing. Tonite is my first night back and I'm a little nervous about getting my water in and eating at the right times... My biggest concern is getting lightheaded ( I'm a nurse so I'm on my feet a lot). I wanted to know how you all did when u went back to work.

I Rarely Get On The Scale; Clothes Falling Off
MamaT replied to Jesusislove's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I don't do the scale much either because the scale had always been my biggest trigger. I'm 13 days post op and have weighed myself once- at 8 days postop - I'm gonna wait until next week cuz I have my monthly visitor and I feel so bloated and I don't want to get discouraged. -
And I felt OK about it! I was really worried because of the temptation of all the food on the table .. But i really didn't feel tempted!! I ordered lobster bisque (I'm 11 days post op) ate some and wrapped up the rest... I must admit it felt good to sit at a restaurant. My husband who is THE MoST SUPPORTIVE person EVER kept asking me if I was ok, and even reminded me a few times to take it easy (the Soup was sooo good and I expressed to him that I didn't want to overdo it) I know it's not much, but I'm glad I got this part of my journey behind me .. And now I know that every time I go to a restaurant I have to recognize my weaknesses, face them, and move on.

MamaT posted a topic in Fitness & Exercise
How did u start out your workout routine? I am 12 days post op today and have not started a routine yet. I do make sure I walk every day about 30 minutes, but I was curious how you started after beginning your journeys. -

MamaT replied to carbgrl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Holy moly! That's unbelievable! I still can't get my head around all of this.. I'm 12 days post op, feeling great, and still in awe of all of you! -
Probably very little - I'm sipping on an extra Protein shake right now to make up for it
-
It gets easier. I had a really hard time at first. Hang in there!!!

Congrats! I look forward to being able to shop in a department store, and not have to walk thru the misses looking for the tiny women's dept

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
MamaT replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved 4/24 and I weighed myself for the first time today an I'm down 11 lbs (woot!) I'm cleared to eat puréed but a few days ago I had an egg puréed and was in agony the rest of the day so I'm gonna wait another day or two to do puréed - protein shakes, cream soups, yogurt and ice pops - I'm looking forward to egg salad! -
I thought the same exact thing but I bought a few jars so maybe I'll try it out tomorrow

Working While On The Liquid Diet Before Surgery
MamaT replied to nancylovescats's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I realize how fortunate I am. Our techs are amazing. Actually, I work on a med/ surgical floor which specializes in bariatric surgery. I was on my own floor postop. so my coworkers have been on my journey since day one. -
Working While On The Liquid Diet Before Surgery
MamaT replied to nancylovescats's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I know 12 days doesn't sound like a lot, but it was my choice ok'd by my surgeon. i love my job and I knew I'd start to get majorly bored and depressed if I stay home any longer. I have to go see the NP of his practice on Friday and if he doesn't feel I'm ready then I have to wait another week to go back- also, my coworkers are very supportive and they are all willing to help me with the physical tasks.
