  1. How are you?

Hello --- it has not gone well at this point! I am back in the hospital for the third time sine my May 15 date. Many complications ..... Did not have as much stomach removed as a normal sleeve would. They left me with 35 % of my stomach... Not the usual 20%. Had hernia repaired, some growths on the spleen also. No cancer found. Yea for that ! God has blessed me.

Now it turns out that where my esphosgas and stomach meet there there is a twist in the esphosgas. Since the surgery I have not been able to keep liquid down. Been dehydrated and vomit daily. Since surgery I have gained 8.4 lbs to date. They claim due to the iv's......not sure I buy it all.

Tomorrow I will have another endoscope to see if they can stint the area, if not I will have a stomach pacemaker installed to regulate the stomach muscle electrically.

I have not given up ...... I just want to get better and lose the weight I set out to do. This was supposed to be the icing in the cake for me. I lost 87 lbs on my own so I was 200 before surgery ...then after liquid and Protein diet for 1 week had surgery at 191 today I weighted in at 198.4, and still growing.

This is not how it should have gone.... But I believe this also will pass and I will be able to share my success story soon.

    Please keep in touch.

    Thanks, Buffy

    How are you?

  2. Well I had surgery on the 15th at 11am. Was out of recovery in my room by 5pm. I was kept an extra day because anesthesia was kicking my ass and BP was all over the place. I'm still out of it trying to figure out how to get my energy level up. I'm also dealing with Aunt Flow who decided to visit me today.. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

  4. Just wondering if anyone is keeping their sleeve a secret and how it worked out for them? I know you need a support system but I am only telling literally 2 people' date=' besides my hubbs of course! We live far away from family and only see them a few times a year so they will not be able to really support me in any way and i only have a few friends who see me on a regular basis. I just don't want to tell people i had to get surgery to lose weight and have to validate my reasons to them. Do you think its wrong?[/quote']

Not at al.... It is your body, your decision and really no one's business. I'm with you the only people who know about my sleeve (May 15, 2012) is my friend taking care of me and the doctors. That was my choice. Plus G od forbid I don't meet someone elses goals.....I will not have to explain myself. Take care, Buffy

  5. Was scheduled for v day but was postponed till next day on the 15th. I am 54 pounds down and have been at a stall for two weeks. I had some complications at first but I feel better now. Still getting used to all the changes.

Hello, I also had my sleeve yesterday ---- May 15. I am home today and so far so good. Every thing went smooth. I have not been or had anything to eat. I am suppose to take it easy and am aloud to take up in 1ounce of Water every two hous. Heck it took me 15 minutes to just sip 1 ounce. So two more days on Water and then I can introduce myself to water downed drinks, no Protein Shakes and nothing you can't see through until my visit next Tuesday. Kinda scary thinking I will be living on water the next couple of. But hey what is a week in my life -- considering what my future holds. Just wish I knew about this before I turned 64'. But better late than never. I wish you and all our May sleevers easy sailing from this point on.

  6. Arrived in TJ safely... Never felt like I was in danger! Samuel picked us up right on time' date=' and was very nice. We arrived at the Marriott, to wonderful service and warm smiling faces! Everyone here is so nice and quick to get you whatever you need! I will post after my surgery my whole experience with Dr Garcia. Would appreciate some prayers! A little nervous!!![/quote']

Why did you go to Mexico?.. Just wondering the reason for the choice?

  7. Wow I am a day away--tomorrow is finally my big day. I am more than excited I am over the moon. It has been a long struggle to get here and I am so ready! They did change my time from 7 am to 11 am. Bummer --- but at least they did not change the day! I am so happy. Been on my liquid since Thursday the 10 th...... My the weight is falling off -- I have been dropping 1pound a day so far. Since Thursday down 4 whole pounds -- go figure. I will keep everyone posted on my progress. Wishing all my May sleevers great success and looking forward to an uneventful recovery for us all !!! Hugs and prayers to us all, also.

  12. There are a lot of us here to help. Just post what you need or message us.

Hello, I cannot figure out how to post my profile. Can you tell me step by step how to get into it and do it. I am almost 65 and this I-pad thing and posting is new to me. Thank you in advance. Buffy,

  13. I have consulted with 2 different paramedics about my surgery and the necessity of a medic alert Bracelet. Both of them felt like it was NOT necessary because we don't have a "pouch" like a band or bypass' date=' since our stomach shape is similar to a regular stomach only smaller. It basically refers to if you are unconcious and needing a blind NG tube inserted through the nose/mouth to intubate you and the fact that they could puncture your stomach since it has been surgically altered.

I think most bypass people also can't have NSAIDS, so most of their bracelets say something like No blind NG tubes, No NSAIDS, and of course any other personal issues or allergies.[/quote']

Hello, I am new here. What is NSAIDS. And NG tubes ???? I hope you can help me out. I am confused. Thank you

We bought some of my liquid things for after surgery this weekend when we went grocery shopping. That made things more real for me!![/quote']
