I have Kaiser and started the process through them (although I was denied twice)... during one of the many classes it came up and we were told that they do not cover cosmetic surgery after bariatric surgery. NOT AT ALL.... she stressed that in two of the three classes that I attended. I wish they did, although mine would not be covered anyway since I went to an outside doctor

I was self pay through Dr. Garcia and I paid 5700 and that was the surgery, hospital stay, hotel, and airfare for two people. I would suggest that you make sure about the hospital and all the other doctors fees ....are they included in that fee that you were quoted? I went to Mexico and look at me now!!! Just had to throw that in there Its your decision...so think wisely about what is best for you!!!! Good luck

4 months out and I still have the bubble guts as you call them. lol... its weird hearing it .... but it is not as often as when i first had my surgery

Sleeved 5/22. Highest weight 216, surgery day 209.... as of today 150.4!!!! Down 66 lbs.... Goal is 145 although I just found out that I would still be considered overweight at that weight .... go figure ...

Yeah I second the heating pad. It did me wonders. I took gas x too but I didnt use it since the gas that you will have is surgical gas and not regular gas..... I took my own broth that you can reconstitute... I didnt like the hotel broth too much.

I still can not eat a whole cup of chili from Wendys..although it is my favorite out food to eat and it does well on my tummy!!! Sounds like you are doing great!

Surgery day I was 209 because of the pre-op diet!

you will do great... I had second thoughts as well. Not for the doctor that I was using, just the surgery in general. He and all of his staff are wonderful!!!!

I used Alma as well... she is great and so is Dr. Garcia. You are definitely making the right choice!!! Congrats.

Hello everyone, Its been a long long long while since I have logged in. Things have been hectic but going great. Just for review, Im Kisha from MD. Had my surgery on May 22, 2012 with Dr. Fernando Garcia. My experience was wonderful from the moment I stepped foot in Mexico. Starting weight was 216. Goal weight is 145.... current weight 151!!!!! Only 4 months out and I am almost at my goal. Life has changed so much and is going great as a non-obese person. I am now wearing a medium top, medium dress (depending on the store) or size 10, and in pants, also depending ont he store, size 11 or 12. My feet have even shrunk. 7.5 now. I just want to say anyone considering mexico and Dr. Garcia.... you can't go wrong. They have the best care and Dr. Garcia is the best. If I had to do it all over again... I would... without a second thought. I am happy to answer any questions anyone may have!!!1 some pictures!!!! I dont really have many before picture because I hated taking pictures... but I have tons of after...because the camera loves me now.... or should I say, I love myself now.... sorry for the side ways pictures...I am just too lazy to rotate!

It doesn't compare to child birth. The surgery itself was a breeze and even the incisions didn't hurt me too much... It was the nausea afterwards that got me. The gas pains were bearable just don't sit around because they build up and that's hurts .... After five days post op I was feeling pretty good!!!! Now 14 days post op I'm feeling great... I should say that not everyone experiences the gas pain and nausea... I was hoping to be one of those lucky ones... But no such luck for me. Maybe you will be that!!!

I am only 10 days post op and I find tht I am fatigued....but as each day goes by, I am regaining my strength...naps aren't necessary.... I was told that in the beginning it is an issue but life returns to normal with time...so far it is ringing true with me

Honestly, I was expecting the worst...even the weird feeling people talk about... but I didnt feel a thing.... she told me to take in a breathe...I did...held it ....closed my eyes... next thing I know she was tapping me telling me she was done...had the drain in her hand.... I didnt feel a thing....I was so happy

I will join that club .... I have a few more days before I move into the soft stages and I can't wait. Running out of things to eat or should i say drink and it's frustrating
