  1. Congrats on your surgery!!! I am sure that as the days go by, your energy will return and that hand will go down. You have the same surgeon that I will be using!!! So exciting!!!
  2. So slowly though it seems
  3. Seems like its so close but so far away...but I am so happy to be able to final get this done and also get some relief both physically and mentally....
  4. which dr are you using??? My surgery is May 22 with Dr. Garcia in Tijuana
  5. thanks everyone for the advice. I have always had problems with FMLA. My son is disabled and I have to renew every year...despite his condition never changing and each year they give me an issue. But I will talk to them sometime next week...as my son is having surgery tomorrow. thanks again!!!
  6. I didn't think so. And I don't plan to give too much more information. I am going to call the hr department tomorrow.
  7. So I turned in my FMLA paperwork ahead of schedule because my job can be such a pain in the a&&... But i asked for the doctor to be as vague as possible since I didn't want too many people to know whats I am having done... And he puts great medical information on there and do you know those pricks want more info... I mean... What ever happened to privacy and patient rights. Sheessh
  8. Good luck and many prayers sent your way!!! Please try not to stress!!
  9. The BMi requirement is 35-39 for two years but you have to have two things wrong with you... Like diabetes and joint issues. To qualify outright you have to have a BMi of 40 for two years even of you have no other issues. I thought of doing that but that's just too much for me. My knees are killing me from the weight I have on me now. To add more weight would kill me... So forget kaiser I'm going to Mexico
  10. thanks ladies!!! I am thinking of changing to something else as well. The only reason I havent changed yet was because of the kids. I love the one stop shopping with them. But after this fiasco that I have gone through with them, I will just put up with going here and there with them. I wish the fed government had a mid year open enrollment lol because I would change now if I could
  11. I am scheduled to have my surgery on May 22 with Dr. Garcia in Mexico. I have had previous surgery in Mexico (tubal ligation reversal) and figured I might as well tell my mother this time. (last time I waited until after I got back and she wasn't too happy. So this time I fully expected her to give me grief!!!! Wrong, she is very supportive. She knows the medical issues that I have been having and how my insurance (Kaiser Permanente) has denied me twice. She says, that she is here to support me to help me a happier and healthier me. She is even going to travel with me for my surgery. I am totally happy that she didnt give me a hard time. Now, I wish my doctor was the same way. If anyone has Kaiser, you know that they are crazy strict with their guidelines and blah blah blah. Well I broke down and told him that I was "considering" going out of town (didnt say Mexico) and self-pay for my surgery. This is the same doctor that referred me to the board for consideration for bariatric surgery in the first place. But now that I am going to an outside doctor he is being a jerk. Says that if I come back and have any issues, that he will not see me and Kaiser wont cover it. Urgh. I don't anticipate any issues but dagnabbit ish happens. My friend and sister both work at Kaiser and just told me to switch my primary and never mention to anyone (at Kaiser) that I had the surgery. Urgh, but up until now I really liked my primary. So now I have to go through the whole process of finding a new one just because I decided to take matters into my own hands. Just because my bmi is "only" 39 and I only have 1 health issue(instead of two), I don't qualify in the eyes of Kaiser.... but now I am being blacklisted if I go through with it.... KAISER SUCKS But the one good thing about this is... MY MOTHER APPROVED AND IS SUPPORTIVE....so I am still on cloud now... thanks for letting me vent
  12. I know you have to be excited!!! Please keep us updated!!!
  13. I will arrive on the 21st as well!! Which doctor are you ladies using there?
  14. Swanson makes broth packs where you can just add water!!! You can get hot Water at plenty of places once you pass thru security and on the plane!!! HTH
  15. I wish I had a sit down job. I am a mail carrier so I am walking, pushing, pulling, standing, and lifting all day long. So I do not plan to go back to work for 6-8 weeks!!!! I am going to enjoy the time off and go back a few pounds lighter!!!! HEEYYYY!! But my mother had the gastric bypass and although she sits all day long at home (she is retired) she still finds that she is weak and tires out really quickly. She is four weeks post op. I really don't think that it is realistic but I would just say just go with what your body is telling you
  16. That is wonderful!!! I can't wait to pull out my fits that are in my closet collecting dust!!!
  17. thanks ladies!!! I am going to do my best to get my mind off of this and not pig out. Its easy though because my mother is staying with us and she just had the gastric bypass and seeing her eat like a spoonful and get full is crazy to me. But she has been helping me stay on path. She did also say that her taste buds have completely changed.
  18. well I know I do plan to have a last supper meal but I dont think I will go too crazy before my surgery!!!!
  19. Congrats you look great!!!
  20. I can only hope that my primary is as supportive and receptive to the idea of me self paying for the surgery and going to mexico. Something tells me though that I won't be as blessed as you are in that department!!!
  21. Good luck and thanks for sharing your motivating factors for getting through the 2 week liquid diet. I am definitely taking notes because I know that it will be the hardest thing that I have to do! I look forward to reading about your experience!!!
  22. I am 5'2 and will be having my surgery on 05/21. Once you guys got your date for surgery, was it hard for you to stop thinking about it 24/7???? Also, did you pig out before you had to start the 2 week liquid diet (if you had to do that)? I have to start my diet on the 9th of May and my SO says well lets just pig out for the next month...ummmm of course he weights a buck O 5 wet....so he can do that... the idea sounds tempting but I just dont feel right about it...
  23. Thanks for updating!!! Glad everything is going smoothly and I am confident it will remain that way!!!! Can't wait to read more!!1
