    Pork Rinds

I do splurge and have them on occasions. It's important to know that the protein in pork rinds is not a significant source of protein tho. once in awhile wont hurt u, I just wouldnt eat them everyday.

    Smoking After Surgery

Your right Sassypants, this is not a forum for antismoking but it is a forum for those who have had or will havr the sleeve. Angelofmercy had a valid question and I believe it was answered. An ur also right, smokers do get bashed and judged alot here. I smoked for 20 yrs a quit a month before surgery. Not because I was forced to, but because I wanted all of me healthy, not just my weight. I wanted no addictions holding me back. Food or cigs. Anyways, I said all that to say this, not all of us cheat or sabatoge our health and some of us just want complete freedom from the things killing us. But I in no way would ever bash u for smoking
  12. I wish I had known early post op how hard dealing with the loss of my food would be. although im fine now, it was hard the first couple of weeks. I even regretted the surgery at first. But now, 98 lbs lighter and 5 months later, it was all worth it.
  13. I was sleeved March 29th so I'm 8 day shy of being 5 months out. As of this morning I am down 98lbs. I love my sleeve!

    Dfw Sleeve Doctor

my surgeon is amazing. His name is Dr. Zackhour and he is in Mesquite. I had my surgery at Texas Regional in Sunnyvale in March. I am down 98 lbs. My dad also used him. Neither of us had complications. His leak rate is 0%. Thats right, never had a leak. I was a cash pay and paid $9550 total.
  15. I did not have this happen but my doctor did tell me that if he opens me up and notices my liver is in bad shape then he would back out. I have hep-c though. All went well tho and he said my liver looked great.
  16. I can so relate to this post. I have just recently been re-introduced to my lady parts. :-)
  17. 1night for me. My dad had the same surgery with the same surgeon and he stayed 2 nights. His heart rate was abnormal though.
  18. I am a little over 4 months post op and down 95 lbs. I would do it over again in a heartbeat. No problems at all. Just wish I would have done it sooner.

    Having A Hard Time Emotionally

I felt the exact same way you are feeling in the beginning. I am alittle over 4 months out now and I promise you that those feelings will pass. I felt that way for the first couple of weeks. Just hang in there and know its all part of the process.

    Bmi 50+

I began walking immediately after surgery. I started with only a few steps at first and now I walk atleast 3 miles a day. I have started on some weights for my arms because I do have alot of excess skin. I make sure to drink plenty of water each day and I concentrate on eating proteins first. I eat when I'm hungry which is about 3-4 times a day and I always weigh my food first. I eat about 3-4 ounces at a time. (always protein) I probably take in about 500-800 calories a day. I am never hungry and don't starve myself. Everyone loses at different rates though. My dad was sleeved in Dec. 2011 and he has 80 lbs to date. So I think it all depends on your body. Good luck!!

    Bmi 50+

I started with a BMI of 58.5 and now it is 41.8.... I have lost 94 lbs in 4 months. No problems with surgery and the pain was managable. I smoked for 21 years and stopped cold turkey the month before surgery. It is important to get all areas of your life healthy, or atleast it was for me. good luck and I wish u the best in your journey.
  22. Just had to share. I went to a water park tonight with my 2 children and my church and I went down the water slides. It has been over 20 years since I was comfortable enough to even attempt going on them. My girls were so happy and we had a blast. I will be attempting roller coasters next. BTW, I am 4 months out and down 94 lbs. Started at 330 and down to 236.

    I Need Help...

Are you taking any vitamins? I felt that way in the beginning until I started a multi vitamin. Also, are you drinking enough water?
