How Long Did All Your Pre Op Appointments Take?
For my wife who is Post-op it took her about two and a half months from start to finish. For me (I'm pre-op with a June 19th date) it took me two and a half months as well, and that included the seminar, two sleep studies, a VO2 max test, EGD, Session with the shrink, the NUT and the consult with my surgeon.

Had My Last Test Today -- The Dreaded Endoscopy!
kczar, After having to go through the VO2 max testing the previous Thursday and having to have a mouthpiece just like that in my mouth for an hour (awake) this was easy. At least asleep it wasn't as much an annoyance, but I hear ya! Thanks! Eric

Had My Last Test Today -- The Dreaded Endoscopy!
Donny, I can tell you this, after about 3 to 31/2 hours I felt comfortable enough that if I had to drive I could have, but I wouldn't want to. This morning I was fine. If you can find a ride I would highly recommend it to you. If not then I would definitely talk to an anesthesiologist in advance to make the best decision. I can tell you this much; the hospital was not going to let me leave without a driver to drive me away. Best of luck! Eric

Had My Last Test Today -- The Dreaded Endoscopy!
Patrick, Yes they put me out for it. I had mine at 5 pm and the worst part for me was not bring able to drink at all after 8 AM. The whole procedure took about 15 minutes and I woke up in recovery 45 minutes later. The hardest part was drinking Water too fast right afterward. That caused me to cough and that wasn't pleasant. After a glass of water and a 4 oz apple juice I was a lot better. Had a slight headache and felt somewhat woozy but it all passed withen an hour. I had solid food shortly after. Really it's nothing to worry about and a good thing to have beforehand. I had no idea I had polyps but I'm glad they removed them. Eric

Terrified Of Anaesthesia!
I was put under about 5 hours ago for my endoscopy and it was no problem whatsoever. The anesthesiologist asked me a few questions, put the knock out juice in my IV and I was out within seconds. Woke up about 45 minutes later in recovery. Downside? Slight headache. Upside? Quick, easy, painless (no new stick or anything like that) and had some of the best dreams I have had in a LONG time! You'll be fine!

Had My Last Test Today -- The Dreaded Endoscopy!
Hi All, I got back from the hospital a while ago after having my endoscopy and am feeling better after finally having something to drink and eat. Well, drink mostly. I have to say that having the procedure at 5PM and not being able to drink for that long a period of time...ugh. The good news is that there appears to be nothing wrong on initial view from the doctor who performed the procedure. There were some polyps he found and have been sent off for testing, but he wasn't worried about them, so I won't be either. Tomorrow marks 14 days until my surgery. Tomorrow also starts my pre-op diet. All the tests are over for me. Bring on my new life! Eric

Anyone Done A Vo2 Test
Here is what I know so far: So it's basically a cardiac clearance test as I have a history of cardiac issues with my family. Not me but immediate family. What I am wanting to know is what to really anticipate with this test.

Anyone Done A Vo2 Test
Morning! I have to take a VO2 test today and was wondering if anyone here has taking this test before? I am curious as to what happens with this test, how it works, what to expect, etc... Thanks! Eric

I Blew It Today
Don't beat yourself up over this. It happens. I start my pre-op diet the 5th and to be honest, I know that I am going to have some issues. What I am telling myself is that hunger is all in the mind and I can control my mind. The other thing I do is rely on my faith. I won't go all religious on you, but my faith is what gets me through everything. As far as changing your thought patterns, if you can, take a walk outside and enjoy nature. If you can, drink Water if that's allowed during the time your hungry. (not sure how your pre-op diet goes...sorry). Hope this helps some. I know how hard it is, but if I can do it, anyone can! Eric
