    Pre Op Diet

Angie, I'm almost in the same boat! I started my pre-op diet Tuesday and I can have two shakes, three Protein bars, and one meal with 5 ounces of lean meat and two cups of veggies (no starches!). This is a 1200 calorie diet. What I do is drink LOTS of Water. Add Mio (non caffeinated) flavoring to it. Also I will drink Vitamin Zero Water, water flavored with Crystal Light flavoring, and even decaf tea and coffee with splenda. Also, check to see how much protein you're consuming. I am averaging about 120 grams of protein a day. Protein, especially the really thick bars work wonders for me. As for the hunger part, I treat it as a mind game. My mind is stronger than the urge to eat, even if my stomach is growling, like it did today! If you'd like to see what I'm eating then feel free to friend me on MyFitnessPal (click on the link in my signature below). It will give you an idea of what I am taking in, if that would help.
  2. Giselle, You're using Dr. Kim; did this happen at Forrest Park Medical Center?

This May Be Inappropriate, Forgive Me :)

WOO HOO!! That made my day! *Running away now!* (have to admit it was an interesting discussion though!)
  7. For my wife who is Post-op it took her about two and a half months from start to finish. For me (I'm pre-op with a June 19th date) it took me two and a half months as well, and that included the seminar, two sleep studies, a VO2 max test, EGD, Session with the shrink, the NUT and the consult with my surgeon.
  8. BGV it is great to hear from you and even greater to hear how things are going! Very excited for you! Thanks for letting us know how things are going. One question. Was the water nausea from drinking too fast or too much?
  9. Amy, Great to hear from you! Glad you are doing well and greatly appreciate the post! Now I just have to try and prepare myself for the pain. I hate pain! Eric

    Catheter question for men

Okay, so after reading this, one question. Does it matter as to pain and discomfort if you are circumcised or not?
  12. kczar, After having to go through the VO2 max testing the previous Thursday and having to have a mouthpiece just like that in my mouth for an hour (awake) this was easy. At least asleep it wasn't as much an annoyance, but I hear ya! Thanks! Eric
  13. Donny, I can tell you this, after about 3 to 31/2 hours I felt comfortable enough that if I had to drive I could have, but I wouldn't want to. This morning I was fine. If you can find a ride I would highly recommend it to you. If not then I would definitely talk to an anesthesiologist in advance to make the best decision. I can tell you this much; the hospital was not going to let me leave without a driver to drive me away. Best of luck! Eric
  14. For all the sleevers going in for the start of their new life today, we're thinking of you! Prayers for all! 15. Patrick, Yes they put me out for it. I had mine at 5 pm and the worst part for me was not bring able to drink at all after 8 AM. The whole procedure took about 15 minutes and I woke up in recovery 45 minutes later. The hardest part was drinking Water too fast right afterward. That caused me to cough and that wasn't pleasant. After a glass of water and a 4 oz apple juice I was a lot better. Had a slight headache and felt somewhat woozy but it all passed withen an hour. I had solid food shortly after. Really it's nothing to worry about and a good thing to have beforehand. I had no idea I had polyps but I'm glad they removed them. Eric

    Terrified Of Anaesthesia!

I was put under about 5 hours ago for my endoscopy and it was no problem whatsoever. The anesthesiologist asked me a few questions, put the knock out juice in my IV and I was out within seconds. Woke up about 45 minutes later in recovery. Downside? Slight headache. Upside? Quick, easy, painless (no new stick or anything like that) and had some of the best dreams I have had in a LONG time! You'll be fine!

  19. Hi all! I have a date set for my sleeve (June 19th) and one of the things I want to do afterwards, when I am fully healed, is to start triathlon training. I am wanting to do a sprint, then work my way up from there, but I am concerned with training after a sleeve. How difficult is it to train for an athletic event after healing from sleeve surgery? What is the best course for diet and hydration? I am looking to wrap my head around what I will be needing to do before I get to that point so I am prepared. Thanks!

    Egd Endoscopy

I have mine on the 4th so I have a couple of questions. Did you have a local anesthetic or did they put you under? How long did the entire process take? Any recovery time? Thanks for sharing! Eric
