  1. So sorry to hear of your troubles...that must be so frustrating....I hope that you will find some answers to help you, soon...good luck...
  2. Congratulations on your surgery....and welcome to LBT.. I know what you mean about being tired of liquids...I had to do two weeks of liquid before surgery and two weeks after....but it has been so good for me...I am so glad I had this surgery....
  3. Congratulations on your surgery date...yes, you are do right...every doctor is different....I think you are wise to check and see what he tells you to do....follow the instructions to the letter....you will do just fine...welcome to LBT...this is a great group....everyone is so supportive and gives the best advice to those banded and those that are planning to be banded....
  4. Welcome to bandland...I agree with Betty...check with your doctor and see what you are supposed to be eating or not eating...I was on two weeks of liquid after surgery, then one week of pureed food, then one week soft food, i.e. scambled eggs, soft casseroles, creamed potatoes..then last week advanced to solid foods...
  5. Hello Jess, Not from Oregon, but wanted to say "welcome to LBT"...
  6. sorry to hear you had a rough time with second fill...hope you are feeling better today.... I have only had one fill...but I took the advice of everyone on the board that posted....don't eat a big meal the night before the fill and be well hydrated.....I did that and I felt fine....I hope I do as well on the second fill....I am on mushies today...had only liquid yesterday.....and will go back to solids tomorrow....
  7. oh, my port is on left side..not down low...but up above the belly button...and over to the left...
  8. That large lump scared me to death... I felt this large lump under the incision of where my port was...I thought something has ruptured....I called the doctors office and spoke with the nurse, she just laughed and laughed...she said, "honey, that is your port"...all was fine......but if I can give anyone any advice...I would say....Call your doctor, if you feel something is wrong...or you just have a concern.....I have worried myself sick for days over things that have turned out to be nothing...I could have saved myself a lot of sleepless nights, if I would have just called and talked to the nurse...and God love my husband....he has had to hear me fretting over every little thing...I know he is probably hoping that soon I will get adjusted to this surgery and calm down...Seems like I have a new concern everyday......
  9. oh by the way....CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR BAND....
  10. all I can say is walk, walk, walk...and take the liquid gas-x...it did wonders for me....
  11. Hope you are feeling better....each day will get a little easier....those first few days was pretty rough....I just sipped water a little at a time for the first 24 hours... then I could sip some broth, but really didn't want anything...
  12. I was on liquids for two weeks after surgery, and then to pureed food, then soft foods, and then solid.....my doctor was so careful to explain each and every step....I knew the danger of eating solids to soon ...I did not want to mess up my band...I am a self-pay..and I don't have another $15,000.00 to pay for another surgery...
  13. Good advice , Betty.....I think the same thing...I know it gets hard to just stick with the liquid, but you don't want to mess up your surgery....once you get to the pureed food, it won't be so bad...you will adjust ....and you will be so happy you did.....and please don't eat popcorn....that is one of the worst foods you could eat....it could get caught in your band....and then you are really going to have problems.....just remember...we have all been where you are, and we know the frustration....just keep yourself well hydrated....drink as much water as you can and drink slim fast (optima) it really does curb the appetite...hang in there....and it will pass before you know it....
  14. I had to wait for the strips to fall off on their own....I could take a shower after 24 hours, but no baths....not allowed to be sitting in the water....
  15. Rhonda, I hope when you go back in June, this will help you get started over..I wish you all the luck...I know this must be very frustrating to you...I have only been banded a short time, and only had my first fill, yesterday...I can't give you any advice....but I do wish you luck....hang in there...
  16. I don't have any children at home, but I would think that two weeks would be enough time for you to heal....That is great that your husband can take off work...you will need to be careful and not do any lifting...I was restricted for the first three weeks...couldn't lift anything over 20 lbs.... Congratulations on your surgery date...and good luck.....Be sure to post and let us know how you are doing...
  17. Kathy, I am so sorry to hear you are having to go thru this...I am sure you are so frustrated, I would be too.....My daughter , has a friend that had the gastric bypass well over two years ago, and she is doing great...she has lost 100 lbs and looks wonderful...she didn't have any problems, but I know that every person is different...I didn't want the gastric bypass ..I was like you, scared .....I hope that something will work out for you..I just can't believe the insurance companies...they make me so mad...I had to self-pay....but....I would do it again , tomorrow....it is worth every penny that I have had to spend.... Good luck...and I hope that you can find a way to get the lapband...
  18. Bless your heart..I hope that you get home soon and can start eating and drinking without being sick....
  19. Just got home from the doctors office...had my first fill...I was so scared...it was nothing like I thought it would be....the doctor numbed the area and it didn't hurt at all....like a little bee sting....the fill didn't hurt at all...just pressure....I am so glad I have got that behind me...next time I will not be so freaked out....I drank a small little cup of Water and ate a few bites of a cracker...no problem....I go on liquids for today, mush tomorrow, and reg . foods on Saturday.... For all of those getting ready for the first fill, don't worry.....it is really not painful at all..... Hope all has a great weekend....
  20. yahoo.....you are getting ready for a new journey...good luck and I hope all goes well......welcome to bandland
  21. YAHOO.....that is great...hope your surgery date will be soon....congratulations....and welcome to LBT....
  22. Cher, I agree with Maryrose....call the office mgr and see what she says...maybe it is not as bad as it sounds....maybe they just have to monitor you for a few visits and then she will give her approval....good luck...hope all works out for you....
  23. Congratulations.....I am happy that you have a surgery date set...that is great..I had some pain....not anything that was unbearable...I did take my meds, and I had so much gas, but the liquid gas-x took care of it....I couldn't go back to work after just a couple of days....I had to be off for over a week...but.....I am 54 years old....and I also had a hernia repaired at the same time I had the surgery...so....I think alot of the pain I had was from that and not the banding...I hurt in my back... good luck...hope all goes well....
  24. I have not heard of any surgeon suggesting the RNY vs Lapband....I think I would look for another surgeon....I know this must be very upsetting for you...here you are ready to make the decision to have the surgery, and he throws a curve ball into the plans....hope everything will work out for you.....good luck...
  25. YAHOO......I will be praying for you...hope all goes well....let us know how you are doing...I know you must be so excited...I am excited for you and all those that are going to be banded.....
