  1. I've heard good things about Dr Alexander, I heard he's really good with revision surgeries. And I pass his office every time I visit my bariatric surgeon, dr Nirmal Jayaseelan, who I've had well over 5 years, he's removing my band and will be converting me to the gastric sleeve in two weeks, on July 5th :-)

    Good luck with your surgery!

    Hey Vhoke1,

I'm having my surgery on the 5th of Nov. with Dr. Marsden, but my roommate is using Dr. Jayseelan, can I ask about your experience with Dr. Jayseelan? Was the hospital comfortable? Also, did your surgery go well?

  2. I got my surgery date! November 5th. I'm both nervous and excited. I didn't get to meet with Dr. Marsden because he had to run to surgery. I met with Jodi, his assistant. I thought she was really nice and personable. She took the time to answer all of my questions. I was very surprised to hear that I didn't have to take a day off of work to get the endoscopy done before surgery. That was a pleasant surprise.

  3. Hey my surgery is in a few hours @ Baylor Hosptial w/ Dr. Frank Veninga - I'll let you know how it goes... He's a really nice guy & all the staff in the office are great especially Barbara...

    Hi Ready,

Good luck with your surgery! I hope you have a speedy recovery. I see Dr. Marsden tomorrow, and hopefully, we'll set a surgery date!

  4. I'm having my surgery done at Plano Baylor - I have UHC and they are a COE hospital.

bluejean - did you get your surgery date yet??

Not yet, I meet with Dr. Marsden on the 6th, and at that time, I'm having my labs done. I also decided that I wanted to take their nutrition class on the same date. Amanda was saying that I can realistically have my surgery by the end of September.

  5. After reading your post, I checked in the member's portal. Baylor of Plano is a Center of Distinction. When Amanda found out what my insurance was, she told me she was having me meet with Dr. Marsden, because he practiced in my network. I didn't even know about Dr. Marsden at the time, I thought I only had Dr. Beinvenides or Dr. Fox to choose from. Please don't give up, and double check with your patient advocate. I have a pdf file that shows all of the centers of distinction if you can't get into your member's portal. Let me know, and I can email this to you, Keisha. I really hope you get your surgery soon.

  6. I received a call today from True results with some bad news...apparently, because they are out of my network and BCBS requires that the procedure is done at a Blue distinctive center of excellence, costing about $35,000 and my out of pocket costs would be over $20,000...that's twice as much as paying for it in cash at any other facility. This makes no sense to me. I have wasted 6 months of my time meeting the requirements and they called me offering my co-pay back for the time i spent with them. I couldn't even speak, i just cried on the phone. I'm still just speechless! i called BCBS and they are saying that my particular policy does state that there is a $15,000 limit on barbaric surgery. Right now, I just feel sick!

    Hey Keisha,

Did you ask them about using Baylor in Plano? Dr. Marsden practices at that hospital, and I have BCBS as well. I'm told that Baylor of Plano is in my network, but now, I'm going to double check. Don't give up!

  7. When I talked to the patient advocate, Amanda, she was saying that the sleeve is more preferrable to doctors because they do not have to invest the time into after care, that you have a few follow up visits, but basically they don't need to keep seeing you to make adjustments like the band. They didn't try to talk me out of the sleeve, they were just upfront that the band is what they specialize in. I can't wait to meet Dr. Marsden on the 6th to ask some more questions too as well.

  8. I'm going to the True Results in Richardson. I haven't met with Dr. Marsden yet, but his staff, specifically Amanda, the patient advocate, have really taken the time to give me a lot of information. Plus Dr. Kim's office gave me the amount I would be financially responsible for, and it was more than 3 times what True Results estimated I would be responsible for. I called my insurance company (BCBS) to find out why the difference, and they couldn't figure out where Dr. Kim's office was getting their numbers from.

Good luck to you all. I'm so glad I found this forum!

  9. Hi there,

I consult with Dr Marsden on 9/06/12. I love his staff at true results. I was originally scheduled to go with Dr. Kim, but I felt rushed and pressured, and was really sure that after I had the surgery with Dr. Kim, he would not be there for me if any problems came up.

Also, Dr. Kim's staff never wanted to answer questions. I had my first visit at True Results yesterday, and they were absolutely wonderful. I can't wait to schedule my surgery and get moving towards a healthier me!
