Small Rant
I can relate - when I was in grade school ( and overweight with two skinny sisters) one of my Dad's larger friends used to say to me "Thin may be in, but fat is where it's at" and give me a little pat on the back. THANKS!!! Then, when I lost a bit too much weight in high school my grandmother used to say "hey, you're not so fat anymore". I'm 49 and these things still hurt when I think about them. But you can't let what other people think or say control your life.

Family S***s!
I'm so sorry that your family isn't supportive. This really is your decision and it's a good one - you are trying to get your life back!!! I don't know if you follow Dr. Oz, but he had a show that discussed weight loss surgery and totally supports people having this if they are more than 100 pounds over weight. He says that you would have surgery if you had cancer, right? Being morbidly obese is a disease just as much as cancer is, so the smart thing to do is to fix it!!! I hope that your boyfriend is supportive because you will need that!! I wish you the best of luck!!

Breaking Down Day 10 Pre Op
Don't stress, you'll be fine!! I cheated 3 times with chicken breasts and had a very successful operation. I too have fatty liver disease and the doctor was hapy with my surgery. I just would be careful to just do liquids for the 48 hours before the surgery.

Constipation
Oh boy can I relate. I am just over 3 weeks out and this was a very painful weekend for me. It had been over 5 days and I was in a lot of pain. Took 3 ducolax and that only helped a bit, but finally last night I got relief. I will pick up some miralax and see if that will work going forward. Before surgery I had no issues and this scared me a bit. Thanks for the good advice here on a bit of a sensitive subject!!!

First Day Of 2 Week Liquid Diet
Hello everybody, I had my pre-op yesterday and was told that because my liver was too big I had to be on a liquid diet for TWO weeks, not just one. I've had 2 protein shakes today and am starving. How long does it take to get used to this????

Role Call!
My day is April 19th and I can't wait!!! Does anybody seem to feel heavier and heavier every day as their surgery is approaching? I couldn't stand to look in the mirror before, but now it's horrible!! I have my pre-op on April 4th and am ready to start that liquid diet NOW!!!

Not Long To Go
I'm very impressed that you have kept up with your liquid diet. I will have to be on it for just one week so now I know it's possible!! I've had other surgeries before and don't remember getting bored at ALL in the hospital. I was sleeping the whole time, having visits from the nurses and doctors, or just trying to get out of bed and walking. I would suggest just bring a book so you have something if you need it. We're all doing the right thing for ourselves to get healthy - and you're doing great!!! Good luck and keep us posted!
