  7. I was just thinking of this very topic.. For me its bread..once upon a time I loved bread, waffles, but it does but love me, or the sleeve. I am accepting this ....and feeling nauseous confirms whats in and what's out on the menu LOL I just tried out a piece of toast with thin sliced turkey and its not going down well. Kashi lean Cereal, 1% milk, crackers are good to go,.some cheeses but favorites are Fage yogurt smoothies with unjury Protein, and SF icees are the new go to treat. I am 6 weeks out and doing well. Eating to live as they say...

    Reason For Time Off

I work for a mid size health organization and privacy is a concern. I'm 12 days out now post op and all is well. My scenario was to take 10 days off from work using sick time because I have big accrual thankfully but I kept a lid on the info sharing at work to ..I will be out for a medical procedure. Upon returning to work the med clearance form only required MD signature not his specialty or any procedure code so there us a measure if privacy there as well. I do let people know who genuinely ask ..how am I or what's that ur drinking that I am working with a Dietician to focus on Protein and food choices , exercise etc..bottom line its on a need to know basis.

    The Pain?

Pain contd. I was given liquid Tylenol plus a narcotic..happy button which I used as needed. The pain for me was about a 6 and then it went down to a 2 Dull discomfort in the Ab area. The soreness is kinda like waking up after doing 200 sit ups but the air is where I think the sharp pains came in.it comes and goes. I am home now but have not used any pain meds yet. Movement on the bed is awkward trying to find a sweet spot. Resting, walking and sipping is my focus right now...do the initial pain does subside.

  14. Also wondering what the avereage hospital stay was for others?
  15. I have had mixed responses from close friends and family in particular. I recognize the concern people have out of love but I also recognize what is important to me, so choose to focus on staying healthy and this is a big step in that direction! I have been selective about the discussion of WLS, partly because of the judgement factor and the fact that people love to talk. My surgery is coming up in a few days so I do not plan on disclosing any further--they can watch the transformation for themselves! The best is yet to come! L
  16. Congrats to you!! Feeling Good will definitely be on my playlist for the surgery which is scheduled in 7 days. I am happy for you and as you shared the best is yet to come--stay in the moment. Keep pressing on. L
  17. The decision to pursue WLS was definitely not a New Years Eve Resolution. I have resolved however a conflict within myself that I do not have to struggle alone and that I can ask for help. When wt loss surgery came on the scene I was a skeptic and very concerned about the perception of quick fixes that folks would mask food addictions, related behaviors and triggers for a miracle fix. I realize it is a very indiviualized decision making process. I contemplated doing the "band" 3 years ago and part of me was secretly happy the surgeon stated " you can do this on your own--just move more... this is not an option for you." I have done wellness programs, gyms, integrative nutrtion groups over these past 5 years and nowwhere closer to my wt goals. These have all led to small and positive lifestyle changes along the way but I need more. I have adopted new eating habits, cooking and preparation but struggle with sweets, portion control and dissappointments. Thankfully I was able to demonstrate this 5 year pattern of active weight struggle to the insurance co and they approved it ( Feb 14--how sweet is that LOL) which made this next leap of faith possible. However now seeing the medical wt loss surgery advancements, testimonies of others along with main stream research I do feel GVS is the option for me. Because left to my own devices I have not been able to successfully sustain or fully reach the goal I have for myself. I am SO blessed to be healthy--absent of any chronic health conditions, but frankly I want more for myself! My action plan for 2012 is use the VSL as a tool to reach my healthy weight. I am looking forward to marking a new chapter in my life-- the best is yet to come! Preop visit 3/8 Final Surgeon visit 3/22 VSL surgery 3/29

  19. My final appt is 2 weeks away. I suggest you write your questions down before the appt and if possible have someone with you, sometimes its tough to recall all the details. As of now my concerns are: Energy level Anesthesia reactions Generally what to expect the first 7 days post op Hope that helps...
