    Burning Cheeks

Windburn, sunburn, rosacea (adult acne). I don't think a leak would affect your face unless you have a fever. Just redness, no flakes, no bumpiness, no other signs of rash? Is it you whole face or just the cheek area? I tend to call the doctor for everything, so I would be on the phone. Let us know what you discover. Robbie
  2. I am so sorry you are continuing to suffer like this. Were they able to do anything for you? Remove the band and some of the misplaced mesh to give you a head start on healing, perhaps? Best of luck going forward; keep us posted Robbie

    Where are the 50s ???

Turned 57 beginning of May, so count me in; not sleeved yet. Robbie

    Cold Cold Cold Feet

Nerves are a normal part of the process, I think, especially for a irreversible procedure. My feet got so cold, I cancelled my surgery before it was even scheduled. LOL I went to the seminar, met the coordinator of the bariatric program and the next day doctor's office started to call scheduling the preop tests, cardiology, pulmonology, etc. (such cooperation from the insurance company is not the norm from what I hear). Anyway, I went into a total panic, everything was happening too fast. I decided I needed to spend some time in therapy to find out where the panic reaction was from and so I am not going to be sleeved for at least six months. If you were not nervous, I would be worried that you hadn't thought it through enough. Extra socks and a few of those hot packs hunters use and you will be fine. Best to you and your husband. Robbie

    Hubby Doesnt Understand

I have never been married, so I offer no advice on spouses, but it seems to me that it is so helpful for sleevers to have their own forums, perhaps it would be helpful to create a forum just for spouses where they could talk to others of their own kind and express opinions, yay or nea or just confused. They could get feedback from others in similar situations and not worry about being considered un sympathetic or clueless. I have not read everything on the board yet, is there such a forum? Diva, you are a moderator, just a thought from a single pre-sleever. Robbe

    5% of 1%?

Unmarried, over weight over 50 atheist female. So glad to meet all of you. Posting from Ohio, which is right up there in the religious or should I say non religious intolerance. Still in the pre-sleeve counseling stage and my psych also asked if I believed in a higher power because she was checking on my support system. Glad to have found this forum. I expect it will be a year or so before my sleeving; I have some major control issues that have nothing to do with a "higher power."
  7. I did this following my hysterectomy. The syringes are pre-loaded and the needles are tiny. I injected myself in the thigh for 2 weeks. Since there is a spring, just press the plunger and it is done. The bruising was minimal, which surprised me, since it is a blood thinner. Once it is positioned, closing one's eyes and pressing the plunger could work. I like to look, except for blood draws...I can watch anyone's but my own LOL Robbie

    Singing The Song

Spatters3, I am so sorry you had to go through this. I have not been sleeved yet, but I had the cancer diagnosis/hysterectomy in October. I even had the DaVinci robot!. My 6 month follow up was clean, as my cancer was also fully contained in the uterus. I just wanted you to know that the outcome can be very positive even when the diagnosis is scary. I also reiterate to any other post menopausal women, never, ever, ever ignore vaginal bleeding. I cannot say that I am no longer scared, but I am calmer than I was. Good luck to you. Please keep us updated. Robbie

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

Dea, I stick to land based exercises; I swim well enough to get to the edge of the pool LOL. I didn't learn to swim until college and only then because it was a requirement for graduation.

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

One thing I would really like to see is exercise equipment manufacturers take height into account when they program their machines. I have a Nordic Track treadmill I try to use regularly (not that it is not acting as a closet adjunct), but the programming says that 3 mph is a brisk walk...HELLO, 5 feet tall, 3 mph is a flat run. I am nowhere near ready for that speed. However I can go 2.5 mph with an 8% incline. I cannot use a recumbent bike at all because my feet won't reach the pedals no matter how much I slide the seat foward. Short legs versus the Machine. I lose ever time LOL
  11. I am not sleeved yet, just starting the process, but this sounds wonderful. I will invest in a camera and maybe a background screen so I don't have to clean the computer room . I can learn Skype, I hope.

    Be Careful With Financing Companies

Stephanie, I used CareCredit for some dental work a few years ago. Yes they approved my application pretty quickly, but I didn't ask them exactly what my monthly payment would be and pretty quickly discovered that no or low interest means a high monthly payment. Also CareCredit is a division of General Electric, so I think it is safe to assume they are pretty stable. Hope that helps some. Robbie

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

I made the pre-op psych appointment and have been eating like a starving wolverine ever since. LOL I haven't even started yet...what will I do when surgery is actually scheduled? Park myself at the golden corral? Provided they don't decide that I am too twisted to get the surgery. The scheduling nurse asked some very odd questions. One foot in front of the other until I reach the Kingdom of Sleeve. (I hope) Robbie

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

Hello all, Count me in also. I am 5 ft. flat and a BMI of 39.6. Still pre-op with Kaiser. Doing some counseling before I start scheduling testing. I have been in therapy off and on since I was thirteen and never discussed any food issues, even though I have been overweight since my teens. I am afraid of getting the surgery and then failing because some hidden issues rears up to bite me in the but afterward. Anyone in Ohio?
