Nerves On Edge!
Thanks for the comment!! I really don't mind the appointmets. i work in the medical field so I know how it is to be missing one thing and a test or procedure is denied. The coordinator was going to wait until to next week to send the paperwork to insurance but I would feel better if it wasn't rushed. I know I should sit back and let her do her job but this is my FIRST time having any surgery or hospital stay!!!

Nerves On Edge!
I just called my VSG coordinator. I have been holding off calling her but when I did, I was a nervous wreck. She told me to calm down several times. I had so many questions. I have to get an IVC filter and It hadn't been scheduled & also my paperwork has not been submitted to the insurance. I want this done NOW!!!!! I am afraid the insurance will deny me, thus moving my appointments/surgery further into the future. I'm a little calmer now but I still want this stuff done ASAP. On the bright side, I only have to do a 1 week pre-op diet!! ** Excuse my rant. If I could rant about my upcoming nursing boards to someone here, I would do that too!!!!*

Preop Diet Stress
- I Have A Lot To Lose!
My surgeon gave me a goal weight of 190. I was aiming for 200 so he and I were in the same range which made the consultation a lot easier.- I Have A Lot To Lose!
Thanks for the replies. My doctor hasn't required me to lose any additional weight. I thought he might so I was holding out on having surgery until April. When I met with him on 1/26, he just did the consult, I had NUT consult and I was on my way. I then received a call 2 weeks later asking me to pick a surgery date. I picked 3/21! I have to do a pre- op diet so I will probably shed some pounds then. I also have to get an IVC filter a week & a half before surgery. I'm nervous and excited.- I Have A Lot To Lose!
As I look on the board, I find that I have a lot more weight to lose than most people. I have 250 lbs to lose. I am 440lbs and have a BMI of 69. That's a lot on my 5'7" frame. I am just curious if anyone else out there, especially post op VSGers have a lot to lose like me.- I Am More Than Just A Weight Loss Surgery!
Thanks for posting. I am also feeling the same way. Everybody who knows I am having surgery wants to talk about that. Actualy I am more nervous about taking my nursing boards, which are a week before my surgery. ** Everybody calls my surgery the gastric bypass and I always correct them. I feel the same way you do about the Band and the bypass.- Birth Control After Surgery
Thanks for this topic!!!! I currently have a Mirena and I do use it for birth control. My surgeon said it doesn't need to be removed prior to VSG, like other BCPs have to be stopped. He told me that I will be fertile after surgery but I don't want the Mirena to stall my weight loss because I have lot of weight to lose (250lbs!!).- My Story
Thanks for the post!! We are in this together!!- Negative Nutritionist
She sounds CRAZY!!!!!!! If I were you, I would complain and potentially get another NUT appointment (free of charge).- Psych Eval.. Maybe Too Easy. Your Thoughts?
I am glad I don't have a 2nd visit!! This visit was 1 hour & a half. he basically cleared me pending my results. hopefully I get my letter befire the 1st and I can share.- Sleeved In Mexicali! Warning: Really Long ;)
Thanks for sharing!! i wish that 5 years ago when I was 26, i would have had the guts to do what you did. Good luck!- Psych Eval.. Maybe Too Easy. Your Thoughts?
I had my Psych eval today. It was a little more extensitive than yours. I completed a lot of paperwork, talked to the Psych about mental history and so forth, then completed yet more paper wor ( a mental health/personality test). I guess if you were not satisfied, you should let your doctor know. Maybe you didn't have any signs of having a mental illness so he didn't go into detail.- I Definitely Regret Surgery.... So Far!
I am glad that you are feeling/ doing better. Praying that you have no more issues and a wonderful recovery!!!!!!- Vsg And Nursing School In The Same Month!
Hello. I would love to know how things turned out. I just completed nursing school on 1/26/12 and I know I would have been a wreck trying to do both surgery and school. I went to an accelerated 16 month program. I hope everything works out for you!!!- Uh Oh..... Did ! Mess Up?
I told some people at work that I am having VSG. Was that a mistake??? I see a lot of people say they didn't tell their co-workers or employers what they were having. I only told a select few but gossip in my office spreads like wild fire!!!! I started not to tell anyone but I am really close with some co-workers and some others over heard. I ended up telling my manager because she was expecting me to leave my job at the end of March due to me completing nursing school, but since I have insurance now, I am holding off seeking a nursing position. My job is in the medical field and I have had a few co-workers who had weight loss surgery so no one really looks at having surgery as a "bad thing" and they are not judgmental, not to my face anyway.- Excited/nervous~~
I was supposed to have my PSYCH appointment today but the doc was sick and I have to wait until tomorrow. I think my surgeon is waiting until they get the psych eval before they present to the insurance for approval. My surgery is schedule for a month away and I have to tak my nursing state boards soon too!!!!!! I am driving my self insane!!!- Job Interview Next Week. What To Do?!?!
I goes I understand where you are coming from. I haven't had my surgery yet but I am a new nursing grad and I have all of the same apprehensions about applying for jobs, which will be right after my surgery. Please keep us informed but I know everything will go well for you and you WILL get the job!!!- Excited About Getting Sleeved!
