    African American Sleevers

Men are shallow...most men at least...and I don't know where y'all are at but out here in Cali "thick" is not in. AA men here like slim/athletic healthy looking women. And anyway, you should be doing this for health primarily and esthetics secondary and if he is your husband and he loves you he will love you even more for making a healthy decision and if not well that's a whole other issue.
  4. Thanks DcMak72 you are right before me look forward to hearing about your journey
  5. Littlebits we are in this together regardless!!!
  6. Hi julie I can relate to the anxiety. I would talk to the surgeon if you aren't sure about the preop diet. Did you meet with a nutritionist? Because they go over these things in the meeting. You want to be very clear as to what you should be eating first week postop, 2nd week etc, if you aren't, then definitely need a talk with you're surgeon. Some doctors don't require a preop diet but I would do a liquid only preop at least one week before so you can start adjusting to liquids only phase of postop, you will be on it for a few weeks after surgery. Feel free to message me with any questions I don't know much but I can share the info I received from my doc.

Why Does The Elliptical Kick My Butt?

The elliptical is wayyy more challenging than treadmill because for one your using both upper and lower body parts and instead of just walking as in a treadmill, it's closer to the movement of walking up stairs which is more challenging.
  8. Congrats guys!! I'm going to add y'all if that's ok....

    African American Sleevers

I have not been sleeved yet but I have read on these boards that many go through a depression period, that primarily has to do with hormonal changes in your body from the surgery and weight loss, hang in there I heard it passes soon

Congrats on the weight loss! Unfortunately some African amercan's skin have the tendency to keloid, but a doctor/dermatologist can remove that it will be another proceedure that has to get done. Talk to your surgeon see what he/she suggests.

  19. I know the "last meal" is frowned upon but prior to starting my preop liquid diet, I ntend to go to my favorite restaurant and ordering butter and garlic roasted crab with a side of garlic noodles and washing it down with two glasses of red wine
  20. I have blue cross of CA ppo and they will approve you as long as your BMI is greater than 40 or greater than 35 with at least 1 comorbidity, nutrition consult and psych eval.
  21. I think everyone has pretty much said what I'm going to say. I went into the seminar thinking of getting the lap band never heard of vsg, surgeon was raving about vsg, came home did more research, but ultimately for me was during my visit with my surgeon who told me the benefit of vsg over lap band is, with the lap band their is restriction but u may still feel intense hunger but you can't eat, whereas with the vsg they remove the ghrelin producing portion of the stomach which minimizes the hunger pangs.
