It's Time For Your Flame Free Friday Confession!
*gulp* I ate a 2 foot tall chocolate rabbit. It took me a week, but every night I broke off pieces and gobbled them down. I did record it in my daily calories and it didn't replace any healthy food... it was just excess totally useless calories. I'll see tomorrow if I lost weight this week. I don't think I have :-( Good news is, the rabbit is gone

Having "girl" Problems - Ladies, Please Respond!
I'm so relieved to hear other women having this issue! I am almost 56 yrs old and thought I was post-menopausal. HA ! Not only am I losing weight, I am getting younger !!! I haven't had a heavy period but definitely a period and it seems to be lasting for a couple of weeks rather than the old normal 5 days. I wonder what other things I have stored in my fat..... the 70's are kind of a blur....

February 10-13 Sleevers... How Are You Doing?
Hey Amy ! I was sleeved 2/13 and I'm doing great - I can eat anything I want, just not a lot of it which is exactly what I wanted to achieve. I have to be careful to eat the right things and it does take some thought and planning to get enough protein in each day but all in all, this is the best "dieting" experience I have ever had - I don't feel deprived, I'm certainly not hungry, and I CAN'T fail ! Very cool

Hard 3 Month Anniversary...
***BIG HUG*** your post made me want to call my mother today, not wait until our "appointed time" on Saturday. My mom is 83 and she won't live forever and God knows I will miss her so much. My mother-in-law passed over 25 years ago and my husband still misses her. On the otherhand I plan on living forever so my children won't have to miss me

I live in Frankfort but I figure Lexington is pretty close :-) I had mine at Georgetown hospital, Dr. Weiss, on 2/13/12 .

My Journey
You may not get too many responses, since you wrote this to your blog rather than to a forum. That being said, atleast someone reads blogs :-) I was sleeved on Feb. 13 and yeah, they can keep that dang morphine - I couldn't even keep water down, thought something horrible had happened to my stomach. But as soon as I stopped the pain meds I was fine and haven't thrown up since. sheesh ! About 2 weeks out I turned into an emotional mess - mostly RAGE at everything and everyone. Thank God my family loves me a lot or they would have booted me out of the house! I still have my moments, but I'm much better now. The bariatric center psychologist told me that if got intolerable I should think about taking an antidepressant or mood stabilizer. As for eating, I was really resenting my family being able to eat whatever in copious amounts but that too is better now that I can eat anything too, just a lot less than they do. We all went out to dinner last night for the first time since my VSG - I ordered a dinner and shared it with my 8 year old grand son and ate until I was full. No weird looks from the waiter or other guests and no worrying about wasting food. I'd say be kind to yourself. Find something you really enjoy eating and by golly, enjoy eating it!

Am I The Smallest Guy That Had A Leak?
It probably does mean that you're the youngest VSG patient period ! How hope you heal quickly ! Please, do exactly what your doctor tells you to do.

February Sleeves How Are You Doing?
oh yeah, I had a month long stall. I think I'm going to be one of those "stall, lose, stall, lose" step-method of weight loss people. Frustrating but to be ignored Favorite food: lamb - ground or chops or roasted with mint/apple jelly .

Never Take Juice From Strangers
allergic to apples ? I have never ever heard of anyone being allergic to apples. That is so sad ! I'm allergic to shrimp and lobster (but no other seafood that I've found so far). Usually it's pretty easy to avoid. Imagine being allergic to grass or dust. ouch !

February Sleeves How Are You Doing?
I was sleeved on 2/13/12, have lost a total of 32 lbs (including pre-op diet), I am eating about 1100 calories a day (trying to get in that 70 gms of protein!), and feeling pretty dang good. I have to start moving more. I have been so sedentary for so long I think I have forgotten how to be otherwise! I did a scary thing yesterday - I ordered summer clothes online in two sizes smaller than I am now. We are going to Florida in July (which is also insane) and I needed to get some clothes, but I didn't want to buy clothes that fit me now. I think this is called "counting your chicks before they're hatched" :-)

Carnie Wilson On The Today Show This Morning
The only option left to her is the lap band or the new thing I saw where they stitch up the pouch to restrict it. I don't think you can "sleeve" a pouch :-(

Tough Mudder Done!
I am ignorant. What, pray tell, is a "swedish fish" ? All I can picture is you sucking on some pickled herring....

Am I A Rebel Or Just Plain Stupid?
gettinthinner: no, I'm not Canadian but I grew up in upstate NY and I work with quite a few Canadians so I have been "exposed" :-)

Am I A Rebel Or Just Plain Stupid?
I bet you exercise more than you think you do. Being in the islands I would guess that you spend time on the beach and in the ocean. Walking on sand has got to be more strenuous than walking on asphalt. This is an area that I too have to work on. I am not too worried about it and I refuse to force the issue on myself because then I will despise and resent it. Since we're raising two of our grandchildren (aged 7 & 8) and a major goal of mine is being able to play with them, I suspect that soon enough I will be getting enough exercise without having a formal plan or gym membership. Then again, perhaps I am deluding myself and if I don't force myself to sweat and build muscle I will never lose enough weight to be ABLE to play with the kids ! I have to remind myself that if I aim for nothing I'll be sure to hit it. Time to think about exercise, eh ?

Perhaps A Disgusting Topic But Advice Always Appreciated
yep, it's called "sliming". bleck ! It happens to me when I don't chew something solid well enough or eat too quickly or eat too much. The trick is : chew chew chew and then chew some more, swallow, put utensil down, talk or listen or hum a tune, take another bite, etc. Give yourself a chance to feel full before it's too late (and one bite too much is too late). I don't know what the feeling faint thing is all about but I guess it just goes along with being nauseous.

Would You Have Done It Sooner? Say In College.
If the VSG had been available when I was a teenager I would have had it done. Instead, I had to wait until I was a 55 yr old grandmother and had 2 artificial knees and a rebuilt foot and who-knows-what kind of damage from years with high blood pressure. If I had been able to live the past 40 yrs as a fit and trim woman.... Lord only knows what kind of life I would have had. I know that God is in control, so this surgery was meant for me to have done now, at this time in my life. Perhaps this is the time in your life that it is meant to happen? I had considered gastric bypass and lapband but they were both rife with lifelong consequences. Anyhow, enough rambling. Be brave and be healthy and be prepared to be disciplined ! (i.e. no eating pints of ice cream !)

I Hear Tell There's Gonna Be A New Sheriff In Town!
woo hoo ! I never doubted your eventual success.

2 Month Sleeversary!
Kayte: do you mean 1 month out ? You have your surgery date listed as 2/28/12. OK... so you're starting your 2nd month, right ? And, not to be a nit picker (but I am :-) , your surgery weight was 316 and your current weight is 283 which is not 47 lbs. Ah... I get it.... you're speaking words of positive power into your future reality. hehehe.... I am just messing with you. I figure your stats haven't been updated. Congratulations on feeling great and losing weight !

Nsv- Sorta!
Seems to me that the insurance companies would WANT people to lose weight and get healthy. Or would they? hmm...
