  1. I just took myself in, my Cpap machine for apnea,(no longer needed), and my blood pressure meds,(also no longer needed). We only lived 4 blocks from the hospital so wife would go get anything I needed.
  2. The liquid diet was the hardest part for me. It was like fighting a war without weapons. I couldn't wait to be issued my VSG m16!
  3. I spent a great deal of cash on chewable Vitamins off of the internet when wife and I had our operations. Now we buy Centrum Silver chewables at Walmart. I am a year and a half out and still don't like to swallow pills. I know I am over-babying my stomach. I chew all my pills no matter how gross they taste.
  4. My main incision was right over my belly button. Looks like you came through it like a champ. I was too morphined out to bother with paparazzi. You have a sweet smile.
  5. That's a good time to be there! Doctor's are fresh and if they've had their coffee, wide awake and ready to do their thing.
  6. Good for you!!! You are in for major changes, you will dump your closet twice, maybe three times. Advice: don't buy expensive clothes until a year out at least. Don't sweat the stalls. Be happy!
  7. I have read that not all of the ghrelin is gone. It was cut down a lot, though. I judge real hunger by accompanying body and mind indicators. If I am weaker, getting dizzy, getting cranky, it might be real. If I am just thinking about food or just had an emotional trauma that in the past would have sent me to the burritos it is probably head hunger. Water shortage masquerades as hunger sometimes. Ah..the art of reading yourself.
  8. Ups and downs energy-wise are normal. Keep up on your water and protein and take naps like everyone said. Vitamins help, too, especially B12. Get someone to give you a back massage. It doesn't help your energy but you might as well milk the situation.
  9. Wow, close! Hang in there, Kim! Being a bit nervous is quite normal. I was nervous but joked my way through it to look tough for my wife. She saw through my humor smokescreen, of course.
  10. If you were not a little worried I would wonder if you knew what you were doing. You are normal and welcome!
  11. Looking fine!!! I predict the compliments will keep on comin'!
  12. I've dated Verty. She's quite a cut up.
  13. If you don't mind old school your local library should have books by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbu, and other Olympians.
  14. File that one with Nigerian widow of a billionaire who wants your bank numbers to transfer money to the US. Idiots around here are calling pretending to be Microsoft and having gullible folks type stuff on their computers to "remove a virus". Scam, scram, thank you maam.
  15. Proudgrammy is one of the brightest souls on this forum. Bright in wit and spirit. Her good cheer is a balm for the stings of the nasty bees that fly in here at times.
  16. The big question is: What are you prepared for? Most people know little about this surgery and what people don't understand they fear. Fear causes adverse reactions. You can't expect people not to be people. If you have the tolerance and patience to endure backlash and don't demand support you will be OK telling all. Because people lash out at what they don't understand does not mean they don't love you. Can your love hang on to them while they work you over? How well do you handle disappointment because you expected better out of your loved ones?
  17. Regardless of my feelings and out of respect for Alex and the Verticle Sleeve Talk forum I will not pervert this thread posted in the FITNESS AND EXERCISE FORUM into a useless political exchange by defending my source. **Gman walks away, noting that discretion is the better part of valor**
  18. The pre-op was the worst part for me. Seemed impossible. Like cutting down cutting down the mightiest tree in the forest... with... a herring!
  19. Protein synthesis and builds muscle that can lead to a higher metabolism. In the same way that strength training can create an anabolic environment that helps burn fat, performing sprints does the same by temporarily boosting growth hormones and testosterone. After performing sprints, metabolism is significantly elevated, meaning you continue to burn a higher number of calories, even at rest. That means that you can cut your workout time in half and still get the results you’re looking for. Sprinting can take the form of running, cycling or even rowing. A great starting point is maintaining a sprint for 8 seconds with 3-5 minutes of rest between bursts. Pushing a prowler can combine the benefits of strength training and sprinting into one exercise. The prowler push is a great full-body, fat-burning workout that allows you to maximize your heart rate while using your lower body to push and contract your upper body and core muscles. Since high-intensity work using a large volume is one of the best ways to decrease body fat, make sure the resistance is challenging to see the best results. Counting calories may not be enough to get results if your diet isn’t “clean.” Eliminate all processed foods, sugar and trans-fats from your diet, and focus on eating fresh forms of protein, vegetables, a moderate amount of fruits and healthy fats such as coconut oil, olive oil and butter from grass-fed cows. Make sure to get enough Fiber by building your plate around a large serving of antioxidant-rich vegetables such as kale, cauliflower, broccoli, bell peppers, eggplant or spaghetti squash. Stay hydrated, especially in the hot summer months, by drinking plenty of Water and avoiding juice, soda, sports drinks and alcohol.
  20. If it isn't fun we likely won't stay at it. Imagination must be engaged to change the way we move and put good stress on the muscles and heart/lungs while not boring the mind into an apathetic stupor. I have found hard work very rewarding, it has replaced my running uphill with weights. My muscles and heart/lungs are hanging in there. The weak link is my back,(spine), and joints. There is the place where my 64 years demand to be recognized.
  21. My prayers for you. Be strong.
  22. On the button, Cheri. You summed it up nicely. I would elablorate that if you sit on your butt and don't excercise it will get bigger along with the rest of you.
  23. Dr. Michel M. Murr, MD The doctor that my doctor remembered from here/
  24. Hence the admonition not to drink with meals or some time afterward, something that I have difficulty following. The food needs all the time it can get in the stomach with the tsunami washing it down.
  25. 1. Show me the research. 2. Wrong 3.a.subjective, b. who made you a psychiatric diagnostician? 4. So you are the AMA and have investigated my doctor? Then again, you can trust internet music content forumites to be very intelligent:
