I could be that your legs are in one of those "first to grow, last to go" spots. Mine is my lower belly.

That should be a sticky. Well put.

Had My Sleep Study Last Night...
gmanbat replied to MsVeDub's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My sleep study was conducted shortly after I had pneumonia and I was forced sleep on my back which I never do and I kept waking up. For these reasons I think my sleep study was flawed as they came up with a severe status for me. Nonetheless, I used the C-pap machine for years until my sleeve weight loss rendered it unneeded. -
Just How Much Is Everyone Exercising?
gmanbat replied to Ready4success's topic in Fitness & Exercise
That doesn't go along with losing inches. If you are storing it, it would show up on inches. Muscle takes up less space than fat. You have rejected the idea that muscle build up is the cause of your scale being displeasing to you. I contend your weight loss is great and muscle build up is the cause of the numbers on the scale. Scale numbers mean nothing, health means everything. I advise eat healthy, Protein first, lots of Water. The bags is not a bad idea. -
Just How Much Is Everyone Exercising?
gmanbat replied to Ready4success's topic in Fitness & Exercise
To the browsers that are contemplating surgery and reading this thread: Whether you get the surgery or "take the easy way out" and lose it by conventional diets you can see by the posts that exercise becomes a great deal of fun after the weight comes off. My problem is doing too much and needing an afternoon nap because of it. Running itself is a joy, a flashback to childhood when I ran everywhere. 100 pounds took that away and fear of blowing the knees. Lifting weights is a passion, quite addictive. I guess it's better to have to force yourself be moderate in healthy activities than bankrupting buffets. -
That is one of those things that you don't want to hear but know it's the truth. We'd rather believe that the body somehow absorbs the excess skin or it just gets smaller because it can. No science that I know of says such a thing, wish I was wrong. If you build up your thighs to massive proportions you can fill up some of the space. Or, like me, just realize that you can't always get what you want but if you try sometimes well you might find you get what you need

Thank you, Thighmaster!

I don't run adblock because I am fascinated at how the ads pick up on the very thing I've been searching for on the web. Obviously someone is monitoring my searches and the ads show up accordingly. Oh, yeah, I don't mean I've been searching for belly pads. Really,... I haven't.

Thought the same think, Rootman. I must admit though, this ad is much more distracting. That elbow is a subliminal along with the open jeans. They gotta make bucks, though, I don't begrudge them that. This forum has meant a great deal to many people.

WOW! Thanks! My goals and his a quite similiar except I have no desire to compete. But, ya never know.

Frustrated And Needing Motivation!
gmanbat replied to landrews's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What the previous posters said. I used to go to the gym. I also made my inability to get there as an excuse to quit exercising. You may be different, that was me. Now all of my exercise is home based. I use kettle bells, a bodyblade, push-up handles, but the rest is just calisthenics. I only go out to exercise when I walk or bike in the neighborhood. I am getting in the best shape of my life. No more excuses. -

Question Why? Two Weeks Of Liquid Diet
gmanbat replied to Dee-Texas's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
The liquid diet annoyance is your investment in your future you. The hassle now will turn to happiness later. It was a philosophical reversal for me. For many years I thoughtlessly piled up excess and foolish practice to be paid for by my future self. It stopped at my pre-surgery diet and the process was reversed. Now my diet and exercise ads to the welfare of the older me. -
Hesitant, Should I Have The Sleeve Or Not?
gmanbat replied to sleeve_or_not's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sure, I think we all run that through our mind. Think of it this way: we get our bodies cut for many reasons. Cancers, tumors, tonsils, gall bladder, plastic surgery, haircuts, nail trimming, ear peircing, etc. etc..The body belongs to the mind and the spirit within us. If the mind determines that the body must give up part of itself for the good of the whole that is how it should be. Obesity has no mind and no will, it is just a state of being. The body is the house that you live in. If you determine that a drastic change should happen to make the house more livable, you are just being a responsible tenant. I was in a losing battle. My condition was such that no amount of will power could be mustered to save me from my downward spiral. Sure, I could have fought it out bravely with my obesity and nobly died trying. I decided I wanted to live and win. So I called in an air strike: VSG. No regrets here. -
I was 330, now 227, on my way to 220. My surgery was Jan. 16, 2012. I am doing exercise now that my daughter and granddaughters can't keep up with. Preparing for surgery: follow NUT and surgeon instructions closely, exercise, don't injure yourself, but EXERCISE, get your mind around the fact that food is just a small part of your life and find out what needs to be in its formerly lofty position.

As you have figured out by now the main causes of rejection are too fast and too much. To a lesser degree, too spicy can also be a factor. I brought it up a lot more in the earlier days than I do now. I really have to push it to bring it back now. Your new stomach is doing what it is supposed to do. It will get less fanatical as time goes on.

Hesitant, Should I Have The Sleeve Or Not?
gmanbat replied to sleeve_or_not's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will find big sleeve cheerleaders on here, like myself, who have greatly benefited from the operation. There are also those who have gone through suffering from it. You must decide whether the risk out-weighs the possible benefit. The previous posts are good guidelines. If you decide to do it, follow the instructions of the NUT and the surgeon to a tee. That will lessen the likelihood of complications. -
Fantastic! It seems like we're losing a layer of old along with a layer of fat.

63 here. We are not too old. We have just had longer to ingrain our habits than the young'ns. Speed eating was a problem for me, too. When you have brothers the fastest gets the mostest. The key is concentration while eating, talking or watching TV can throw you off.
