    My NSV

I can relate to being able reach the feet but not painting toenails, at least my own. My granddaughters used to tie my shoes for me at times. They didn't like to see grampa with bulging frog eyes when he did it himself. Aaaah,...memories.

    Welcome

Hey, I've fixed lots of stalls in my day. Mostly had to do with dead batteries and getting mud slung in my face while wife held the wheel and popped the clutch. Come to think of it, some of that would probably stop a weight loss stall if it didn't kill me.
  3. I didn't say I didn't believe in it. It was irony working off of her requirement of no arguing, The irony was that I said I couldn't post to the thread even though I did. Like Groucho saying, "I would never join a club who would have me as a member". Humor really looks stupid when you have to explain it. I should have stayed in bed, durned insomnia. Now I understand that this thread is not for me, I'm a bull in a china shop.
  4. I am curious about your IV filter. Is it to prevent blood clots?
  5. I thought you were kidding. Sorry for my ironic answer which was an attempt at Python-style humor, "I would join this thread but I don't agree with it".

    Grandma doesnt approve

You could wait around until you are my age when I got the surgery, 63. Everyone was dead already, no problems. I think you handled it well. Relatives, oy veh!
  10. I never thought there was any use for my 60's hippy drug years other than testifying in church and on the street about how good God is for rescuing me. But apparently that time taught me how to handle drugs. The hospital drugs were like jumping in a taxi and riding through a tough neighborhood. Ride it out, folks, try to enjoy them....but not too much!
  11. We went to The Hobbit over the holidays. I had to get up in the middle to go to the bathroom and saw this chick sitting next to the friend of my granddaughter, Emily, who was visiting us. This intruder was sexy looking with high-heels, black leather jacket, tight pants, and I wondered why she was sitting right next to Emily when there was so much room elsewhere in the near empty theater. I was about to get mean when I realized.... it was my wife. I walked away with my red face. We went to an unbelieveably crowded outlet center in Orlando yesterday. A number of times I lost her and had a hard time picking her out of the crowd. She has lost over 100 pounds in a year, looks and feels good, and my brain hasn't caught up with her rapid descent. I am so proud of her, she made this happen.

    How does yours feel?

That's about how it was for me at your stage. I noticed that I had to burp a bit after every swallow of water. I could hardly get any down at first. I am a year out and sometimes I can't take much water, sometimes I can. Thicker stuff always makes more of an impression. Some things go down pretty easy, normally juicier foods.

    nutribullet

I have a Ninja blender and a Juiceman juicer. The Ninja doesn't pulverize the veggies enough, the juiceman is a bear to clean and leaves out the pulp. I was looking into the Vitamix blenders but too expensive for cheap me. I can get a Nutribullet for $100. at Walmart. It has mostly good reviews and appears to make drinkable stuff. I will be following this thread and using you guys as guinea pigs. I will give you your lettuce later.
  14. I haven't tried to fool anyone since I did card tricks for my granddaughter. I certainly wouldn't want to create a false impression about the pain of my operation, why would I? I personally think folks should not get this operation if they can get the same results from other actions but not because my operation was extremely painful for me. It was not. Unfortunately, we are all different. There is a subjective element to all of the expressions we have of our experiences. Those who have had a painful, terrible time with this operation should speak without shame. Those who think it was a mild trial especially considering what the operation accomplished should also speak freely. We can do no more than relate our experiences. We can't give medical advise so if anyone is trying to fool anyone it would be the medical people. They are the only ones with a motive. I trust mine, what they told me and the results of their work turned out just like they said. I am diminished by 1/3 of my original weight and in the best shape in 40 years. I am no longer in pain. They did their work, I did mine. My experience.

    Too much weight loss

Everything I have ever read states that weight loss levels out at a point. My wife and I have hit the point of stopping, me at around 220, her at 127. We may be able to lose more but we are concentrating on being in shape. Without the loose skin we would be 5-10 pounds lighter. What you don't want is the body burning muscle. If you build your muscles through exercise and get proper Protein and other nutrition you will level out and look good. It is the same principle: calories in and calories burned determine weight loss or gain. As we all know, gaining weight is easy, don't overcompensate.
  16. About the same as it was for me. At one year out today I am still sticking to protein first, no drinking at meals, Vitamins, water drinking, small portions, eat slowly..(the toughest one for me). I have to eat dense foods, (steak, hamburger, etc.) very slowly if I even attempt them. I still do whey shakes after workouts and when I think my protein is not up enough for the day.

    Finally have a date!

When you get to the solid stage those shrimp, crawfish, and assorted fish in LA. are awesome! Étouffée and Jambalaya can be great if the cayenne pepper is abandoned.

    Finally have a date!

Good for you! I used to live in Lafayette, Louisiana, loved the place. Cajuns are a blast! You might have to wait a bit on the cajun food, delicious but spicy. You're gonna like the South if you are like me, especially this time of year. I'm from Iowa so I pretty much know what Nebraska is like. I spent most of the day today out in the screened in porch, (Florida), painting in shorts and tee shirt. Not bad for Jan. 16. By the way, this is the one year anniversary of my sleeving and I am 1 pound from goal. My goal for next year: lose the pound.

    Take HTCZ? Capsules?

Believe it or not I have read a number of times that the best way to get rid of water retention is to drink more water. The body won't give it up if it thinks it is not getting enough. Kind of like the starvation syndrom is with food.

I used to love racketball and had cherrios all over my body to prove it.

    Running Is Fun Again!

I talked my daughter into some High Intensity Interval Training running this morning. We warmed up a bit and then ran like crazy up the hill by my house. 20 seconds running full tilt, 10 seconds walking which makes a cycle, 8 cycles to a workout. My daughter who is over 20 years younger was shot at the top of the hill and walked the rest of the way. I did my 8 cycles and recovered very quickly. If it weren't for my leg muscles hurting I could have done 8 more cycles. My wind was amazing! I guess losing 100 pounds makes a big difference. I feel like I did when I was a lad and never wanted to walk when I could run. What a great pleasure it is! I'll be 64 this month.

  23. Here ya go. Save this pic and post it unless you want to do it a different way. Ya can't be too careful.
