    Not on large incision

I noticed it right away. I think it went away at about 3 months. I also asked the surgeon when he came in right before I went home, "Did you find any car keys in the stomach you pulled out? I'm missing a set." He looked at me with a half smile and an "I'm tired and you're a nut" look and said the interns didn't mention finding any keys. Such is my morphine fueled humor.

    Not on large incision

Yes, my knot went down. I thought the doc left his ring in there or something.

    Buffets by the pound!

Sometimes Chinese buffets let you get a take home box and fill it up at the buffet for a reasonable price. You can live on that for quite a while. Broccoli, other veggies, tasty meats, and they even let you get some egg drop soup.

    How long will it take...

I made a few of those moves this morning. Fire ants.

    Do you realize...

I thought that when I lost 100 pounds I could jump 6 feet in the air like I was on the moon. I tried it and I could! Then I woke up.

  9. Your enemies are dropping like flies! Mine died too, good riddance to 'em!
  10. Hi Paulholio, My research indicates that the smelly gas syndrome are associated mainly with the gastric bypass operation, which my wife received. The gas comes from the malabsorption that the bypass operation intentionally brings on. She doesn't have significant gas unless she eats a good amount of sugar-free candy, (the alcohol sugars). Anyway, your high-protein diet should not be a problem, the carbs seem to bring on the stench more. The bypass folks who have the problem take digestive enzymes and claim it helps. Here is a good article that talks about eggs being a culprit and Protein followed by sugar that brings on the wind: http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/09/25/natural-relief-from-digestive-gas/

    New gal

Welcome!! It sounds like it is going well for you. Fantastic! Yup, the nose is willing but the stomach has disconected the hunger response for now. Still works in the brain, though. Sounds like your sleeve is going to be a good friend.

    Newbie

Welcome, Kim!!!! Texans are certainly welcome here! I'm an Iowa youngster, age 64, who lives in Florida now. We have quite a range of experiences with the operation here as you have noticed. Make yourself at home!
  13. I try to put myself in the place of folks whose behavior baffles me to understand their thinking. You just had your stomach worked over by a scissor/stapler. Part of your stomach was cut off and dragged out a hole. The other part is stapled up and possibly glued. They do a leak test to be sure it was done successfully. You are told just a bit of Water for now, clear broths later. It hurts like anything to drink a thimble full. "Aaaa...they're just being over-precautious. That Doc looked like he knew his stuff. That thing is tight. I've always had a cast Iron stomach. It just needs stretched out. Long John Silvers!" Here lies Les Moore Large Coke and a Fish n' more No Les, no more
  14. All good advice here. One of my objections to the operation was that I thought I would be fainting all of the time. I had got dizzy a number of times earlier in my life during training times and diets. It never happened. I was amazed how little I could eat and still feel good. I had read about some folks who eat less than 1000 calories a day their whole life and are healthy. Thinking back I believe my dizziness was more dehydration than lack of food.
  15. Stupid is as stupid does. Forrest Gump If they live through it their chances of success are thinner than an ant's butt stretched across a rain barrel. <--(old Iowa saying).

    Positive Self-Talk

I'm taking a vacation from self-talk since overcoming the greater part of my fat problem. I battled myself constantly for so many years that having my eating in control now is such a relief. Now I am free to think about something other than loving and hating food. I guess I do tell myself, "That was a good move!"
  17. Hey, speaking of pets, my granddaughter has 2 sugar gliders, natives of Australia. I wonder if Aussie Lady recognizes them:
  18. That little pill cup full of water might as well have been a gallon to me. Took me at least a week before I could get much down. I predict it will get better.
  19. I have 3 cats. I love cats, they love me, and I am not ashamed. I am secure in my manhood.
  20. Oh, man, California! I was there in the Navy in San Diego. What a gorgeous place! I loved La Jolla. The waves are better in Cal. I think. Florida has some awesome theme parks but so does Cal. We don't have state tax, though.
  21. Which beaches do you like? I'm in Florida, Siesta Key has the best sand, Cocoa Beach is the funnest so far. I love getting up early and watching the sun rise. Also, at Cocoa beach late at night you can take the kids to the beach with flashlights and chase the crabs. I know, not very wild fun. If I sit and listen to the waves come in long enough my brain goes numb. I'm so relaxed it's like I'm hypnotized.
  22. Yes, I would occasionally peer over the top of my buffet mountain food sculpture and see their looks.
