So he should be up by 10 A.M. unless he stays up later after he gets home from work. You could talk to him about his own essential exercise program after he is sleeved and how important it is to set aside time. A lifelong exercise commitment increases the chances of success by a great percentage. In the course of the discussion you could bring up the difficulty you are having. The thing is, the conversation started to be about him, men like things that are about them. My wife has made that clear to me.

Multi-vit that doesnt make you puke?
gmanbat replied to Samijo4391's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have used chewable vitamins from the beginning and had no problem. I am using Centrum at the present. -

It's not always about the scale
gmanbat replied to PokeyJo's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Jeans trump the scale. Muscle can be up, fat down, and the scale pronounces failure. You are winning. -
I didn't contemplate the thread rating changing. I was reading the replies to my wife...a mistake... she said she knew when she heard "bending over" which way it would turn. Now I have to deal with the honeydo list and drop out. Durn females! One track minds!

C'mon Joe, you know you love it. Get some popcorn, mind the butter.

Ya, but you haven't met my mean little wife. Badgers run from her.

Food ideas--- Nutritionist giving me contradicting information – open to any ideas
gmanbat replied to natalie_christin's topic in Food and Nutrition
The previous posters have nicely summed it up. I look at the sugar content more than the carbs. I eat Pure Protein bars which have 2 G sugar and 24G carbs. They do have 15 G sugar alcohol which to me means don't eat a lot of these or the gas will make you and everyone around you less than happy. I have studied nutrition many years having been a body builder and found the NUT OK but not terrific. They also seldom take into account your activity level. After recovery I put my body on a permanent training regime, determining that I would be a lifelong athlete. I have stuck to that promise to myself and have NO problem keeping fat off. For an athlete, carbs are essential. Fruit is good, vegetables are good, protein is supreme. Sugars are the cutie pies that sneak in but do you little good. If too many show up you have problems. My stomach gets nausea when too much has been taken in. My gastric bypass wife has heart palpitations. That aversion therapy is quite effective. Carbs OK, sugars not. Fruits don't seem to have the same effect when eaten in moderation. Fruits also vary in sugar content. -
I have folks on here that hate my guts and folks that love me to pieces. What a surprise, just like the world I live in! I have had run ins with people on here that later became friends. People fight, even "adults". I have been on here for over a year and a half being helped and trying to help. I am quite a wise guy but try to be kind in my humor. I have been tolerated for the most part. I have been attacked at times. Big whoopy. I am not harmed by black and white two dimensional letters on a screen. Now if you come to my house and attempt kick my butt that would be a problem. Stay and see how things develop. Be as nice as possible and see if folks won't warm up to you. You don't have to sacrifice your pride just put your retaliation on pause. Sometimes you find no need of it.

One year and nine months out, started at 340, down to 210...10 pounds under goal. I have been stalled here, staying within 5 pounds for 6 months. I am not complaining, I am happy. Like when I was as kid and grew my hair long...you never have to cut it because it stops by itself. My body found it's happy place. I could lose another 10 pounds by having a doc slice off the excess skin but I think not. Perfection was not my goal. I am 64 and have no desire to gyrate in front of screaming women who are stuffing dollars into my scanty clothing. Must maintain some semblance of dignity!

** Warning..old fart reminiscing ** Halloween was such fun when I was a baby boomer kid. Our neighborhoods were kid friendly and minions by the thousands would swarm around for hours. Almost every house had a light on and they had a blast dropping candy off, inviting us in, scaring us, and generally giving the kids a good time. It was almost like Christmas, people enjoyed giving and getting a kick out of the kids. I dressed up as Elvis and carried an old guitar around. I know, not very scary, didn't care..liked Elvis. We didn't take little plastic pumpkins to fill up..we took pillow cases. Between my brothers and I we had enough inventory to start a candy store. We dumped it all in the middle of the living room and our parents marvelled at the mountain we created. Belly aches were a given. We lived through it. It was magic.

People think I am sick!
gmanbat replied to jmcguire55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like women because they know how to use their words. If a guy played this on me, I would have been hard pressed not to engineer the removal of his teeth. -
Man maker - a near perfect compound exercise
gmanbat replied to Fiddleman's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Love em! Those solid dumbells with flat surfaces look important. Round ones would tend to get out of hand especially after you get fatigued. Good suggestion! I haven't worked out in quite a while because my work is so blasted stenious but the time will come when I will be back to brain work and workouts will be back on the agenda. -
I worked with special needs kids and adults for many years so I know where you are coming from. I don't know how aggression intensive your situation is but perhaps a bottle holster would not be out of bounds. Here are some varieties: http://www.ebay.com/bhp/water-bottle-holster

Grrrr.....I share your disgust! You deserve better and have deserved better for a long time. These skin flints are about to get a rude awakening. Greed robs people of humanity....I hope you are still on the forum and share when you exit this sad bunch of Jacob Marleys!

Visiting my Brother after 2 years!
gmanbat replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
What a great brother! Yes, the rest of the story! -
Can you get another surgeon? Approved since June, lose 25 pounds or no operation, sounds like a control freak. If we were great at losing we wouldn't need surgeons. My doc just wanted me to lose as much as I could....no ultimatums.

the fat fills in the wrinkles?
gmanbat replied to MindiJean's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have discovered the tool of selective memory. I look into the mirror to do my necessaries but immediately forget how I looked. The fellow looking out these eyes has nothing to do with that wrinkled face. I conduct myself like the fresh, lean and mean stud-muffin that I feel like.
