Welcome, Carmsbiz! If you post more of what you eat and how much the food guru's here are most helpful. I would ask about exercise because that is my and my fitness friends' particular emphasis. You can get going again!

What I thought were gas pains turned out to be major blood clots.

Man I am glad you made it through this! I am glad you took action rather than just putting up with it! On the positive side now you have this essential bit of information about your condition which will help if and when operations appear in your future, the proper precautions can be taken now. I agree with Tignet, don't be afraid, folks, to talk to your health staff about pains. It is much better for them to think of you as an overly cautious pain in the arse then to have a serious condition that does you great harm. Make 'em earn their pay! -
Frustrated with the stall
gmanbat replied to SuperKen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get ready to get new clothes, man. I suggest going to thrift stores and garage sales. Don't throw green down on threads that won't do you a fair amount of duty. Wait until 210 to get the glad rags. Your goal is what I passed a few months ago. I am now 208. I was stalled at 210 for about 4 months and didn't think it would go any further. You will get there. 210 is a great place to be. I saw after about a month after the operation that the scale was a poor indicator of what was going on. My clothes kept outgrowing me while the scale was oblivious to change. I continued to weigh myself but only for curiosity's sake, I got the picture about the trend....down, up, same, up, down, same, etc. A roller coaster track but always in the long run going down. Follow the guidelines, exercise like an athlete in training, down you go. Gman's guarantee! -
They will probably put you on a liquid diet for a while. After you heal up they will tell you to mind getting enough fiber. It is a challenge for us protein first folks but fiber is a must for us divertic prone people. I am doing well with fiber one cereal and an occasional slice of high fiber whole grain bread and salads. Don't get the trashy white bread. Benefiber, metamucel, are also good.

http://www.webmd.com...-topic-overview I have had diverticulitus several times pre-sleeving. I know your pain, it's a bear. I have never heard it described as the colon collapsing on itself. I have always thought that it was:... Diverticulosis happens when pouches (diverticula ) form in the wall of the colon . If these pouches get inflamed or infected, it is called diverticulitis. This is the WEBMD definition. The nausea could be a part of the condition. Are you taking pills? I stayed away from pills for a long time after sleeving. There are liquid antibiotics but they are more expensive and a bit harder to get. Even at a year and nine months out I don't like pills. I use liquids or chewables whenever possible. Sometimes I even chew up regular pills...pretty gross at times.

That's a great article, Laura. There most definitely sliders for me. The crackers and cookies thing is so true. I drink with those things, it's a given. Sloppy stuff goes down easy and can add up in volume. When I eat a steak or other dense protein it's over quickly. The article is worth copying. Thanks!

Dude! You're in the powder room! Run quickly! **Gman backs out slowly**...Just came in to save my buddy, ladies..

Welcome!! I would suggest you take it slow, sleevy needs time to heal. Follow the docs advice. The oatmeal and eggs could be a bit premature. Egg drop Soup was a blessing during my liquid/pureed stage. The extra carefulness you invest now will pay off later. My wife and I both shed all of our meds including Metformin, high blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, and we both beat sleep apnea.

Bathroom Habits
gmanbat replied to Getting Healthy1383837803's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The drugs slow down the cycle. Hydrocodone and the other drugs they give you can gum up the works. What Laura said about fiber is very true. Now that I can eat good whole grain bread and some cereals my going is going strong. -
Wow! Great progress!! Congratulations!

Dylan had it right: In a soldier’s stance, I aimed my hand At the mongrel dogs who teach Fearing not that I’d become my enemy In the instant that I preach ( This was edited out....the Gman from yesterday embarrassed today's Gman with his pretentious bloviating...durn, there I go again)

5 days Post OP - sad, depressed
gmanbat replied to lynchdalynx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone reacts differently to those initial days of misery. I laughed at myself for being an idiot and doing this to myself. A few months later I laughed at myself for laughing at myself when I was cleaning out the fat clothes from my closet for the 3rd time. -
I got into my wedding dress today!

Fantastic! Who said time travel was impossible? -
Ladyglory, I know what you're talking about. I've done the same thing also with cigarettes, alcohol, drugs...and other things. Our bodies have changed but our minds need to re-program. You did good. I talk to my feet, "Get me the heck outa here!"

Before any of you guys get it into your head to take on Lipstick Lady.....don't. She has an underground network of wives and girlfriends that will turn on you at a moments notice at her bidding. You have been warned!

What about my cute little muffins? Men don't get no love?

You brought popularity up as a factor in responses, not me. There is no rank and file system, please don't project your delusions on me. My High School had quite a number of kids who were not rich, beautiful, promiscuous, athletic, or overly intelligent but yet well loved by students and faculty. They achieved it by friendliness and a willingness to serve. If your experience was contrary you have my sympathy.

Here's some more food. You just cast the entire 50,000 plus membership here as spineless sheeple who check the likes leaders before they dare to confront. Did it occur to you that a high likes number could possibly indicate a great deal of caring and support given over an extended period of time? The people I believe you are referring to earned their popularity by answering the same questions with compassion over and over and over. The popular kids in High School many times worked hard to achieve. Then we had the lazy butts like me who would rather criticize and slander than pitch in and help. It is not a matter of popularity, it is a matter of earned respect.

Ahhhh....the appeal of the benevolent dictator. I must admit that I am found of my modified body part as well. He rants and stomps like Hitler on a bad day sometimes but, by golly, he got me healthy and looking good.

Do you guys know that Old McDonald was a bad speller? (Bad jokes can kill threads, I've done it many times...unintentionally)

As many of you know I have been bragging about my 64 year old new slim and fit body by telling of my exploits at work with wheelbarrows, digging, 80 pound sacks of cement, and such. I think I have found my age....my back. Been getting "stuck" lately and have to take it easy. Muscles, heart, lungs..all is well..back is the weak link.

It'll cost you more than that. Give up the lunch money, kid.
