    Cute baby picture competition.....

Wow...lotsa heavy hitters here! Good thing guys get sappy when they get older...I probably couldn't have taken this cuteness overload in the old days. Take an already cute kid and throw the love you have for them in and you have the recipe for a meltdown. Amazingly powerful little creatures, aren't they?

    Help! Protein is killing me!

I went to unflavored whey protein, most protein powders are way too sugary for me. Threw some natural peanut butter in there, too, did me fine.
  3. Would it help to turn the tables, do some FP work on him? Done at the right times it could open his eyes as to how it feels, My RNY wife and I do FP on each other occasionally, when we are sitting before a great meal I normally say, "Eat slow!" It is as much for me as it is for her. We look at each other's plates at buffets. We try to keep it good natured, just being coaches for each other. We went to Christmas supper at my nieces house. She has beautiful dinnerware and all the place settings were mapped out and carded. Wife and I were given small plates, they ran out of big plates and knew that we eat like birds. They also knew that we would not be offended. I told my nephew who sat next to us, "See, I filled my plate up, too." He laughed as he had a big plate that was stacked vertically pretty high. Mine was covered but with gaps between items. I think the big thing is to maintain humor and the underlying understanding that we care for each other and that clumsy attempts to help are still expressions of affectionate involvement. Back to the coach thought. Men sometimes get a team mentallity. Members of a sports team or military squad prod each other to do better. Nothing personal is meant, it's just a striving to bring the team to success.

    Cute baby picture competition.....

    Flat out adorable!
  6. The 3 times I cleaned my closet consisted mostly of thrift store clothes anyway. I didn't pay any substantial amount for clothing until my goal weight was past. I never had much doubt that I was going to get slim and never cried over my clothes. I told this before but maybe you guys weren't here. My wife saved a halter top and shorts that she wore shortly after we were married. It stayed in her closet for many years. She gained much weight and lost it after her RNY in 2011. She got into it in 2012. Man, I was proud of her. Still am. 1972 2011 2012
  7. I gave mine to the thrift store that kept me in clothing during my "too big for regular stores" days and my shrinking days. I was glad they were there for me so they got what out-grew me, I cleaned my closet 3 times.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Took me a while but I got it.
  9. Welcome!!!! Here's hoping all goes well for you in TJ. I have been there during my time in SD when in the navy...at least I am pretty sure I was there. There are lots of Mexico surgery sleevers here....make yourself at home!

    BMI blues

Most of that dunlap, ( done lapped over the belt,, ) is no doubt loose skin. I have the same thing when I tuck in my shirt, I am 65. We may not be ideal candidates for GQ shoots or the covers of Romance novels but we ain't bad for our age. Competition body builders with single digit body fat percentages can show up overweight on the BMI charts. The supreme judge of where you should stop is...your health and your mobility. By mobility I mean ..does your fat slow you down in what you want to do? Are you free of constraints due to size? I was told ..before my operation by a nurse...that I didn't need to lose anything. I was nearly dead but looked fairly good for a guy that was 130 pounds overweight. She must have liked fat guys. Even health professionals can make subjective comments according to their whims. You must judge what is best for you.

    Cute baby picture competition.....

Ya, I was pretty satisfied that my daughter and granddaughters were at the top of the baby cuteness heap but this little feller is in a realm of his own. He acts just as cute as he looks. His laugh can kill.
  14. Me too. I must admit I am quite fond of my new stomach even though ...and because...it's a nag.
  15. I wouldn't discourage anyone from doing their best with those programs but for many of us it was like a scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail: You must cut down the mightiest tree in the forest with...A Herring! The sleeve is more like a chain saw.
  16. If I remember right my real weight loss didn't start to kick in until I was on solids. I think metabolisms have to be healed and normalized. Once you get things moving and your body heals it will get going. Remember, it's fat loss you want, not smaller numbers on a scale. Inches lost trumps weight loss.
  17. 5 pounds of fat: Fat vs. muscle....why you stay the same or gain weight at times but lose inches: 100 pounds of fat and a bowl of cereal:
  18. That is true but it sure feels good when you dump the stuff doesn't it? Some folks are concerned about the loose skin on their bellies and that's ok, but I like mine. It reminds me of what I got rid of. What a relief!
  19. Fantastic, Penman53!!!!! I am really happy for you, love that feeling! I did the same thing at Walmart, those pants are now a bit loose on me. Good work, man!
  20. Wow, fantastic! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. It is very normal and in my mind a good attitude. I noticed that you didn't say you hated yourself, you said that you hated the fat on your body. Very good, that fat is not you, it is something in and on your body that needs to go. Kick it out, it is in your power! The body that you want back is waiting to come out. Make it happen!
  22. It is logical that we would be more prone to feeling cold after losing fat. It is certainly the case for me. I moved to Florida so I haven't tested it out to the max yet. Polar bears have great layer of fat as one of the ways to survive the brutal arctic weather. I can remember as a skinny boy in Iowa being miserably cold and as a fat adult hardly needing a coat ...all winter... in Ohio.

    WTF?

It comforted me to see videos of the operation on youtube before the operation. It was shocking and made me queasy but I was convinced that after something like that it was quite impossible not to lose the fat. I kept picturing that little banana stomach which reduced the scale's rantings to a soft and easily dismissed whimper. Time is on your side now. You've laid siege to the fat stronghold...victory is yours!
