  1. DaniEA....I had my sleeve surgery March 14th and I feel I'm doing well. I know i'm not out of the time frame for possible complications but I do honestly believe that if you do everything that the staff at Dr. Washington's office advice you to do everything will be just fine. I do not have children but I can understand your uneasy feelings of What ifs.....I had them as well as I'm sure everyone does. Take 1 day at a time...the 1st month is defiantly hard(I'm not going to sugar coat it) you will not be able to get all of your liquids or Protein in but try as hard as you can. I was on my way to being dehydrated when I went to be released to travel home to GA and they ended up giving me 2 liters of IV fluids which made me feel soooo much better(wished I had 2 more now...still hard to get fluids) but you feel better every day. I hated that IV in my hand the whole hospital stay but now I wished I had a portable one that I could administer myself...LOL Please let me know if you have any questions...and remember to ask for meds in the hospital if you feel any pain or nauseousness...that's what were there for and sometimes during nurse change over etc...they sometimes get behind! I know you've heard it before but get out of that bed and walk around the halls. It does a world of good... you're not going to feel like it and no one will be their saying...get up and walk but just remember me telling you how much better you will feel...I promise even if its just for 5 min.

  2. I was sleeved on the 14th and I must concur that the shoulder/gas pain has been the worst thing. I try to walk at least 3-4 times a day(10-15 min per) and I feel that is the only way I get any relief. I do agree that if I take my pain MedS as directed it does help and a heating pad on my neck/shoulder has helped as well. Take Care and hang in there this too shall pass.

  3. I'm currently 1/2 way thru my 2 week liquid diet and found Met-Rx shakes on-line. I have 3 a day...it has not been an easy week however I have not been hungry. The shakes defiantly keep you full and satisfied and they do not taste too bad. They have chocolate and berry Blast I have both. They are much better to me when i put extra Water so they are not so thick. I also have mixed them for some sort of variety. I have missed "eating" this week but I will keep on keeping on because the end result is what I will be most happy about. VSG Scheduled for March 14th.

  4. I'm having my surgery March 14th with Dr. Washington in Conway, SC. So far everyone has been extremely nice and supportive and willing to answer any and all questions. I went to the facility about 3 1/2 weeks ago and had my endoscopy and met with the nutritionist. I have spoken to 1 other lady that I found on this site who went to Dr. Washington and she had only positive things to say.

Hope that helps. I will be able to provide more details in a little over 2 weeks. Nervous and excited all at the same time!
