  1. I shopped online and finally found a good price but I have had it so long that i cannot remember what I paid for the case of Grape Mist Isopure I bought. Someone brought a bottle to our pre-op class and it tasted pretty good but post-op the taste gets "old" pretty fast. I found out it is much easier to consume if I freeze it and eat it like a slush.

    Laxatives

Had a horrible afternoon and night sitting on the pot until my legs went to sleep several times. I tried the Milk of Magnesia but found out later that it takes about 8 hrs to start working. I have dealt with a lot of pain but nothing like this. I thought I would have to go to urgent care. I finally called the Kaiser advice nurse, don't know why i did not do it sooner. It took them almost two hrs to get back to me. The nurse told me to try glycerin suppositories before I tried an enema. That finally did the trick a couple of hrs later. I am sharing this because if this happens to anyone, it is no joke. Horribly painful. I am really thankful for all of the advice from all of you.

    Laxatives

A friend of mine just brought me Milk of Magnesia. Is that comparable to Miralax? If not I will take this back and get the Miralax.

    SAGGY ASS

My butt has disappeared! It is almost gone!
  6. Three weeks for me. My surgeon and my nutritionist ordered the same tests
  7. I have tried it several ways including fat free milk, almond milk and coconut milk. My nutritionist told me to use Lactaid so i bought that stuff. My surgeon said "save your money and use regular milk. The powdered stuff I use tastes just like the Premier but just a little bit after I drink it I start feeling really down and have to lay down. That just started a few days ago. It may be that goofy Lactaid stuff. Not sure I am not usually hungry at all but I do have an almost constant feeling that my body needs nutrition. The only discomfort I have had since I was released from the hospital is when I take in my liquids to fast or the thicker stuff Last night I took some Better than Bullion broth and some grilled chicken and put it all in my bullet blender and that stuff was GREAT. Real creamy even though i did not use anything but the broth and chicken and a little black pepper. Every day is a learning process.
  8. I am having major trouble Keeping hydrated. Just can't seem to remember to drink enough fluids. Had to get hydrated at the Drs office the other day. Now I feel like I need to go do it again. Dehydration and feeling really weak have been my only problems so far. I also can drink more liquids than I thought I should be able to but thicker stuff is a lot harder to get down. I am three weeks post-op
  9. Sounds like there is a bunch of us in the same stage and along with you, i want to remember it is just a short stage. I am fighting the temptation to experiment with what i can tolerate but that seems like it would defeat the purpose of this whole thing.
  10. I don't know. I am hoping somebody can tell me. Otherwise I will see my doctor Tuesday afternoon and you can bet I will have a list of questions for him. The good thing is that this is just the first stage of my post surgery. I keep telling myself that but I don't have a lot of patience.
  11. I freeze my protein drinks so I can eat them like a slush so I have something to chew.

    Older Sleevers?

Had my surgery on the 23rd of July and glad to say no complications so far. Down only 10lbs since my surgery but not worried. Just following this and one other forum/site I can easily tell that i am experiencing the normal stuff most other sleevers do. In our pre surgery classes they told us age and being male had more risks or added to the risk. Also had a lot of friends and family praying for me so I thank God for answering those prayers. I pray everyone is doing good and the sleeve is working for you. Lord Bless.
  13. I am worried that I may to old for the sleeve. Are there and 60+ men on this forum that have been sleeved recently? I am 65. Was supposed to be sleeved three years ago but my insurance cancelled 5 days before the surgery. I was worried about my age then too.
  14. I have only spoken with the surgeon about what I should eat. My doc told me I could eat a regular meal before my surgery, just nothing 12 hrs before the surgery. The liquid diet is to help you lose weight, not empty your stomach. It empties out pretty quick. That is why you don't eat or drink anything 12 hrs before your surgery. I have read a lot of conflicting stories and finally figured (duh) that everyone should follow directions for their own peace of mind and safety. My doc said i could eat so I had barbecue at Dickies. After the surgery he came by and told me I had a perfect sleeve. Now i have to carefully take care of it and not let what I "want" mess up my chance to live a better quality of life that i have prayed for for years.
  15. I tried some real thin Cream of Wheat but it doesn't taste good without butter. Does anyone know what is a good substitute for butter that our new sleeve will tolerate?
  16. Thanks, TJ. Sounds like we are eating the same stuff except the crystal light which I usually drink a lot of. I am drinking ISO Pure Grape Mist in an effort to get enough protein and Water. I freeze it and eat it with a spoon. I guess I pretty much eat/drink everything with a spoon so i don't take in too much at a time. I like to semi freeze my protein shakes and do them the same way. BTW my mom lives in Odessa. I am sleeping well just not my normal schedule. Great day today. Hope yours is too.
  17. Doing great. Lost ten this week. Still a little gas misery but not bad. Yes, you may be pushing it a little.(Lot) I went to the group home that I run, Monday and haven't been back. Worried about when I can return to my job at fedex. Very fast paced. I start out feeling no energy at all in the morning but much better in the evening after getting down a Protein shake and Soup. Sick of liquids but my wife made me some really good soup and the "Better Than Bullion" broth helps with a little flavor too. sugar free popsicles give me something to actually chew on. It is staying in the hundreds everyday out here on the left coast so not walking at all. Just got the treadmill uncovered and will be on it tonight, Lord willing. Can't sleep at night much for some reason. Got my days and nights mixed up I guess. Hearing how you and others are doing helps too even though I am much older than most of you. Lord Bless

    Calling All Sixties!

I pray everyone is doing well since their surgery.
  19. Had my surgery Wednesday the 23rd. Had to stay an extra day because of high blood pressure and could not urinate.I quit using the morphine because it made me nauseous. Pain level was very low except for the gas. Feel great today but still want to sleep. I think my biggest problem is going to be making myself eat and drink enough water. Not hungry at all, just feel empty. My doctor told me a few days ago that I had lost enough weight so I could eat regular food again until the night before my surgery. He said that a persons stomach shrinks up so much on the liquid diet that he did not have much to work with. He told me he was experimenting with me to see if I could stretch my stomach out to near normal so that it would actually be an easier surgery procedure. After the surgery he came to see me and told me I had a perfect sleeve.
  20. Looks like several of us sitting and pins and needles waiting for tomorrow.
  21. That's great Mick! What are you doing at work? I unload packages for a couple of hours at a very fast pace every morning and then change to "courier" and deliver packages. Do not want to name the company but it would not be hard for you to guess. :-)
  22. 5 more days before my surgery. The doc said I had already lost more than he asked me to so don't worry about the liquid diet for these last few days. Because of my strenuous work I have lost size as well as weight on my new job. Was 282 and now 251 I have an omelette with cheese with a protein drink before going to work and still losing weight. Drinking tons of water and soaking wet with sweat at work. Feels good!
  23. I am extremely worried about working while I am doing the two week liquid diet my doc wants me to do. I wanted to take off work but the girls in the dr's office tell me the doc won't give me a letter allowing me to do that. I work for a courier company that is very fast paced. I unload trucks by hand for the first two hrs. A lot of heavy stuff. I am 65 and the temperature is forecast to be 103-106 during most of the two weeks. We work outside under a canopy but still really hot. Did any of you guys have this problem?
  24. I pray you are right. I will give it a try anyway. The only other thing I can do is ask my surgeon to allow me to put this off until January which will be after our busiest season and very cool outside as well.
  25. A few weeks ago I tried a three day juice cleanse over a holiday weekend. Lots of fruits and veggies. Tasted pretty good but when i returned to work I had to stop after an hour or so. Just did not have any stamina. Everyone said I looked like I was going to pass out. Kind of embarrassing. Because of that incident I am really afraid of this liquid diet thing. That and the fact that it is even hotter than it was then. I am hoping I can just slow down just a little and stay hydrated and get through it.
