Your results are fantastic!!!! Every body loses at their own pace. I am 11 months out and have lost 52 with 27 to go and eat roughly 1400 calls/day since three weeks out of surgery. I'm happy with my slow pace because my skin has stayed quite taught considering. I definitely did not want very quick weight loss and loose skin.

12,300 self-pay with Dr. David Kim in Dallas, TX.

I was a 35.4 BMI and had my surgery 12/2011. I lost quickly the first three weeks and have slowed to an average of 1 pound a week. However, I eat 1200-1300 cals/day and do not exercise much. I will be changing that soon though!

For "Mexican chicken Soup", taco seasoning is added. You can buy mexican taco seasoning in packets in the spice section of your market. Just add to home made, buillion or canned broth. So delicious! Unjury Chicken Flavored Soup tastes best to me when added to canned College Inn Vegetable Broth instead of Water. Really good as well. You could also add the taco mexican seasoning to the Unjury.

I used Dr. Kim as well. Completely agree with previous post. He takes some getting used to however I went to him because I felt his numbers were better than other doctors I researched. Also, as stated above, his staff is AMAZING!! I came to him from out of town so we had a pre-op consultation via phone. Well, when we met in person, he said "oh, you are actually heavier than I thought you would be"!!!. I was a bmi of 35.2 when we met in person a couple of days before my surgery. My self-esteem was deflated to say the least when my BARIATRIC surgeon said this to me. I laugh now. His staff assured me that he didn't mean it in the way I thought and all said that I was on the smaller side of people getting the surgery. Very funny though to be told that by a bariatric surgeon of his experience. Excellent surgery skills and amazing staff. All worth it!

So many NY sleevers here!! I live in Manhattan but had my surgery in Dallas, TX due to the high self pay prices in the NY area.
-
I had the same reaction--mix of nerves and plenty of adrenaline! I was self pay and surgeons in NY area were so expensive. So, I did my research and travelled to Dallas to have surgery with Dr. Kim at Forest Park Medical. I'm six months out and feel incredibly blessed! I was so nervous waiting to be wheeled into the OR that morning that I asked for benedryl. It put me into a calm, light sleep and I cannot even remember being wheeled into surgery. I can almost guarantee that you'll also feel incredibly blessed after surgery.

I'm praying for you. Definitely talk to a lawyer and get another doctor quickly. Regarding sweating, I have never experienced it after eating and was sleeved 12/2012.
Please keep us posted.

OMG...thank you for the inspiration! You gals look smokin'.

Dr. David Kim in Dallas also. You may have to save a few more pennies, but so worth it, I can't begin to tell you. I was self pay and don't regret it. I wrote a check to Forest Park Medical Center for $7000, and $5050 to Dr. Kim. You can't go to the e.r. with a paper cut for that price. The FP med center was OUTstanding! I felt like a princess with a huge private room and people in and out caring for me constantly. Dr. Kim's complication rate is one of the lowest out there, which for me was far more important than the price. Find something you can sell if you have to. (I sold some property.) It was a great experience and I'm feeling well 2 weeks out. Just some more info for you to consider.
I, too, used Dr. David Kim and had the same experience as Aspiring Evangelist! I did a lot of research on options and Dr. Kim was my first choice. I traveled from NYC to Dallas to see him. He is trained in vascular surgery and graduated from Case Western Reserve (a top medical school). His extremely low complications rate was what clinched it for me. I was also considering doctors in LA and KS. The total cost of $12,500 included everything, even the pre-op testing. And Forest Park Medical is as close to paradise as a medical facility can get. I felt so spoiled--really a great and more importantly safe experience.

Wow! How 'Onederful'!! Congratulations on your awesome success.

Yes, the clouds are clearing and I can see improvement. You went to Dr. Kim- I have to tell you, I can NOT say ENOUGH wonderful things about Forest Park Medical Center and Dr. Kim and his people!!! WOW WOW WOW!!!! All I can say is, Money is a wonderful thing! That was the most awesome experience. (painful, but you know what i mean...) And actually the luxury for what i paid was unbelievable. Dr. Kim got $5050, and Forest Park got $7000. I got a HUUUGE private room complete with huge bathroom and shower, doting care by multiple people 24/7....just outstanding. You can hardly walk into the door of an emergency room with a bad gall bladder for less than $5000. Seriously.

I'm sooo glad you found it to be as exceptional as I did!!--amazing care/environment! I tried to calm your nerves by describing my experience but until one actually sees the facility and care they'll be doubtful. So glad you're feeling better. I was thinking of you on the 13th.

I do get disappointed at times. I lost most of my weight directly after surgery and now am averaging 1-2 pounds per week. I am eating on average 1100-1200 cals/day and am rather sedentary.
I'll remind myself that I'm losing consistently, mostly do not feel the insanity with food--the BEST GIFT I could've been given, and am making permanent changes in the way I eat.
I know I'll not only reach my goal in time but more importantly will be able to manage my weight long-term. In my experience, reaching goal quickly lends to more grandiosity which leads to rebound weight gain.
-
Congratulations!! Sorry to hear you are having some minor adjustments however these will subside. Soon you'll be on cloud nine as the scale goes down...down...down!!

I was self-pay and had my surgery with Dr. David Kim in Dallas TX. The surgery, hospital, anesthesia, year follow-up with complication insurance and all pre-op testing included was 12,300. Well worth the money considering the credentials/experience of this surgeon.

OK...I'm in. I've been weighing almost every morning and evening. I am losing about two pounds a week but think I'd lose more if I weighed in only once a week.
Yesterday, 2/4 my weight was 174.5.
Until next week...

Vanity sizing drives me nuts too!! I was watching a news program and there was a segment on Marilyn Monroe. They say she wore a size 14 back in the day which is equivalent to a size 4 today. The show mentioned that as the population "grew", the vanity sizing became rampant.

It helps with the healing process and also allows for full restriction of our sleeves.

I'm so sorry. Regarding the surgery, most surgeons insist that the patient does not lift more than 10 lbs for a few weeks. If you have to be involved in moving things, I would take that into consideration. However, the choice has to ultimately be yours.

Wow!!!!! You look incredible.
I'm also almost a year out and my weight loss has been steady but very slow. I was a low BMIer to start though.
Hoping to lose the last 27 in the next 6 months!
Unbelievable before and after!
