Surgeons and hospitals in Louisiana
GEAUX SAINTS replied to Bbinder2002's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Never fear!!! I, actually, ate everything I wanted last week, except crawfish, before surgery, and only gained 2 lbs. It was sooo worth it, but I sure wish I had thought about crawfish!! My mouth is watering at the thought of it! Good thing I don't get hungry or I'd be tempted to go grab some junk!!! Crawfish is my all-time favorite food! Damnit!!!!!!! Can't believe I missed it!!! -

GEAUX SAINTS posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, surgery's tomorrow (Tuesday, February 3, 2015) and I'm sick: runny nose; soar throat; headache; swollen glands; cough; postnasal drip...drip...drip. I do have extreme allergies and I'm hoping it's that. I don't have a fever and I'm not short of breath. What would you do??? -

FEBRUARY 3RD SLEEVERS

I wouldn't feel bad. My doc only requires clear liquids the day before surgery and NPO passed midnight, the night before. It definitely worked for me! -

February 3rd Sleevers
GEAUX SAINTS replied to GEAUX SAINTS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure you're home by now, but the only time I felt pain, was on a bumpy gravel surface. It really shouldn't be that bad! Sorry if I'm late, but I've been so tired!!! I am a revision as well. I was banded in 2002. I kept it off for 8 years, then started having issues with band: band slippage x2; tube detachment; port leakage...after 4 surgeries to repair the band, itself, and 2 hiatal hernia repairs, my doc said we couldn't use the band anymore. To make a long story short, I gained 40 lbs. in 4 years! Not good!!! Therefore, the sleeve, or Sleevie Plunder, as I affectionately call him. I feel bad for saying this. Probably shouldn't. But I've been drinking Protein shakes. Well, shakes is stretching it a bit, because they aren't thick. I just can't imagine getting ANY protein in without it. I go to see the NUT and NP tomorrow and they might give me hell. BUT... I feel great! liquid doesn't stretch the stomach! My gas has dissipated as of the morning! On a positive note, I GET TO WEIGH FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!! I'll let you know how it goes! Keep me informed on your progress! Good luck to all of us!!! -

how long is it taking you to drink
GEAUX SAINTS replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did have problems getting liquids down in the hospital...and walking! All I wanted to do was sleep!!! The nurses were bugging the crap out of me. I told them that I would do better at home...and I did!! -
Anyone else having weird cravings?
GEAUX SAINTS replied to Iowa_summergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would kill for some hot, spicy, boiled crawfish!!! I smell them all the time. My husband's eating BBQ now & I swear it smells like crawfish to me! I just had surgery on Tuesday; wish I would have thought about it last week! By the time I can eat anything it won't be in season! I guess I'll have to wait till next season! Thank God it comes twice a year! Just remember: "Pinch the tail and suck the head"!!! -
I'm only 3 days out & I started taking mine yesterday. BTW, I take 13 pills a day! Just take it slow and wait a while between pills! Good luck to you!

I'm so excited to be able to post on the post-op side of things!!! I spent one night in the hospital and then went home. Yesterday, my first full day at home, I drank 78oz of liquid, including 48mg of Protein. Truthfully, I was a bit scared to go home & be on my own but I truly worried for nothing. My doc told me to drink as much as I was comfortable with, so that's exactly what I did. He said that liquid couldn't stretch the sleeve. I do get a little gassy when I swallow, but that's normal & I don't even have to sip. It is difficult to drink without getting some air in, but its really not bad! I just pray that this continues without complication. I feel so sorry for those who are having post-op problems. Hang in there...it'll be soooo worth it!!! These pics are the morning of surgery. I can't wait to post after pics!!! Good luck, all!!!

Sleevie Plunder, because he steals unhealthy fat and replaces it with healthy lean! I kinda like being plundered!!! -
how long is it taking you to drink
GEAUX SAINTS replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not having any problems drinking anything! People are so different. Yesterday, my 1st full day home, I drank 80oz of liquid, including 48mg of Protein powder. I'm definitely gonna get that much in today...probably more! My doc told me to drink as much as I can tolerate because liquids won't stretch the stomach. Thank God for that. Good luck to you! -

Water and Protein
GEAUX SAINTS replied to ShrinkingEbony's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 3 days out, but yesterday, my 1st full day home, I was able to drink 80oz of liquid, including 48mg of Protein. My son is 3 years out and he went through a multitude of protein powders before finally finding one that was good. I ordered mine 2 weeks before surgery so that I would have it post-op. Its called Optimum Nutrition, 100% Whey, Gold Standard, Rocky Road, 5 lbs. I put 2 scoops in a 12oz shaker bottle (shake vigorously) then put it in the freezer till its almost frozen. Shake it again, then enjoy, and I mean REALLY enjoy...its really, REALLY good!!!
