Traveling By Plane Post-Surgery
GEAUX SAINTS replied to greatestnameever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@greatestnameever - My son is three years out and flies at least 6 times a year. His surgeon is the same as mine & hasn't said a thing! Sounds kinda funny to me! -
ideas for food to bring to a party
GEAUX SAINTS replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone on here said that their NUT suggested those little ham/cream cheese/tortilla roll up things. You know what I mean! Some grocery stores delis carry them or you can make them yourself. Wait, I googled it. They're called ham pinwheels! This just sounds delicious to me! -
Just don't forget that alcohol turns to sugar!

February sleevers
GEAUX SAINTS replied to Kiwwi1991's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 3rd and I'm down 17 lbs. I feel great, but Protein shakes/powders are not my friend! UGH!!! I hate even thinking about them! I drink them, but not without poor Sleevie Plunder objecting viscously!!! Taste buds have changed a bit! I loved coffee before. Now it's all I can do to get a cup in the morning! I know a lot of people have this problem...tastes changing!!! Weird!!! Good luck to everyone!! -

Difficulty with protein
GEAUX SAINTS replied to graceday32001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@graceday32001 - I'm with you on that. In fact I just posted the same topic. LOL. Protein makes me nauseated, unsteady on my feet, sweaty, and my stomach sounds as if its under attack! I can't function like a normal human being after I ingest it! Last night I started drinking it before I went to bed. I was still nauseated, sweaty and the noises my poor Sleevie Plunder was making about drove me insane! But it's better than being completely dysfunctional for 2 hours! Hopefully, we'll get some good suggestions here, or on mine! Good luck to you!!! -
I don't know your circumstances, but I read in my literature that sleeve patients are more prone to kidney stones. I would get it checked out, either way! Good to you!

One more can of tuna or chicken and I'm gonna puke! Need lunch ideas.
GEAUX SAINTS replied to TheWigster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@TheWigster - At six months out, you should be eating more that just tuna & chicken salad. I'd get tired of crawfish (my favorite food) if I ate it EVERYDAY!!! You should be eating, pretty much, anything you want, within reason. Fried, greasy foods should not be on your radar, of course, but healthy, lean meat, maybe just a few bites, would be an excellent choice. Crackers are NOT a good choice. They will swell in your stomach and you won't able to eat nutritional foods. You just need to make more healthy choices. Good luck to you!!! -
Hard lump on left side
GEAUX SAINTS replied to GeminiSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's too soon for scar tissue, unless you've had surgery in that particular place in the past. -
Hard lump on left side
GEAUX SAINTS replied to GeminiSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@GeminiSleever - I have one right above my umbilicus. It's fairly large...about the size of a silver dollar. When I went for my 1 week post-op, the NP told me it was a hematoma (pooling of blood) beneath the surface. I'm a nurse and that makes sense. She said it will eventually go away! -

DISGUSTED WITH FOOD
GEAUX SAINTS replied to Pac-woman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a revised lap-bander and I did extremely well with the it until I started having issues with the band itself. I was sleeved 2 weeks ago & I've already planned, when I am able to eat out, I will order my food & a to-go container at the same time. I will leave an appropriate amount of food on my plate and put the rest in the to-go box. This way I won't be tempted to overeat. I realize that sometimes just one bite can throw you over the edge, but that's usually due to not chewing enough. Good luck to you on the journey!!! -

Surgery is TOMORROW and I'm super sick!
GEAUX SAINTS replied to yogachick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@yogachick - I actually thought this was a topic I started 2+ weeks ago. A couple of days before surgery I started getting sick; sore throat, headache, swollen glands, even fever! By surgery day, I was "sick as a dog"!!! I was so anxious about surgery that I decided to go & take my chances. In pre-op they took my vitals and no fever. I did tell the nurse that I was having sinus issues, probably from allergies, which I do have. She listened to my lungs, which were clear and she since I didn't have a fever & my lungs were clear, I should be fine but she would inform my doctor. Obviously, he didn't have a problem with it!!! I did have some fever after surgery, but all-in-all, I did well. A lot of coughing, so make sure you use your incentive spirometer after surgery to get your lungs moving, and walk, walk, walk. Good luck to you!!! -

@@heav85 - My son was 288 lbs and only 5' 7" when my daughter-in-law married him. She is tiny at around 120-125. He had his sleeve 3 years ago and is now holding at 180. They are more in love than ever...they can now do more things together; ride bikes, walk, etc...They are extremely happy. I'm not saying that everyone is like this. It sounds like your husband has some insecurity issues...trust, jealousy. Good luck.

low bmi still obese
GEAUX SAINTS replied to jdillon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seems like most of the low BMI'ers are either old bands or self pay. I was banded in 2002 and went from 220-147, till band started having issues. After 4 surgeries to repair the band, my doc said NO MORE!!! That was in 2011, and 40 lbs ago!!! This time I started at 180 with a BMI of 32. I was sleeved 2 weeks ago today and am down 15 lbs. A lot of us have very similar stories, although my age is a bit higher! LOL Good luck to everyone!!! -

February 3rd Sleevers
GEAUX SAINTS replied to GEAUX SAINTS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a crazy long time, but congrats on the 55 lbs!!! I was on clear liquid the day before surgery & NPO after midnight! All these doctors are so different, but I'm soooo glad mine does the abbreviated version!!! Drink Protein shakes for your protein. I use GNC Total Lean & Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Rocky Road, which I order on Amazon. I get vanilla Bean from GNC & add different flavors: instant coffee, Sweetleaf flavors, etc. I usually get around 48mg/day with the shakes. Good luck to you! -
I'm from Monroe! Been gone 25+ years, though.

Sharp Pain while shoveling
GEAUX SAINTS replied to esskay77's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I hope you have checked this out. Hiatal Hernia is a distinct possibly! I have had scar tissue and hiatal hernias, and the only time my adhesions hurt was when I sneezed!!! It felt like someone was stabbing me with a hot ice pick. On the other hand, my hernias never hurt; never knew I had them. Keep us informed!!! -
