  1. Hi VST friends! I haven't been on here in a month so just letting you all know what's going on. I started exercising 30+ minutes every single day (walking, playing Zumbaa on kinect, swimming, and weight lifting) and have noticed I'm melting off the pounds faster. Before I was losing 1-2 pounds a week but now it jumped up to 5 since last week!!!!! I can now fit into REGULAR WOMEN SIZE 12 TOPS and 16 BOTTOMS!! I've always been bottom heavy like a pear but am now a smaller one. (: I could fit into a size 12 dress that had a pleated skirt too. I used to have to wear plus size 26 at 300 lbs before my weight loss and my largest size was 32 at 400 lbs. When I try on my size 32 pants, I can fit my whole body in one leg!! :o

Everyone should consider the sleeve. It is the best procedure in my opinion. I can eat sweets when I want and not have dumping. Of course, I will crave the sweets but a spoonful or a bite will satisfy me and I toss away the rest. I eat 4 oz of meat and some veg and then I feel comfortably full like I just had Thanksgiving dinner. I always LOVED the feeling of being warm and full so would overeat until I got there before surgery. :P

The down side is that I burp nearly after every meal for 5-10 minutes and if I eat too quickly food will get stuck. I take papaya chewables so that helps a bit to get the food down. I can't eat dry food like chips, crackers, pretzels, dry meat without some kind of sauce, and Cookies. It just gets stuck and hurts my chest until I burp it up. I can't eat any bread either because it makes me feel sick. I can only tolerate a few pinches of ultra soft mushy bread. I get Constipation a lot because I'm eating so much Protein every day too.

I was afraid that my hair would fall out but it didn't. I had been taking Biotin and eating 80-90 protein every day to prevent this. I look forward to losing more and more weight until I hit my goal of 150 lbs!!

  2. I've lost more than 60 lbs and am a little over 4 months out. Now that I've taken up 30 minutes a day or more of exercise, the pounds are melting off faster. I lost 5 lbs since last week! The sleeve is such an awesome tool since it prevents me from overeating all the time like I did before. I can eat 4 oz of Protein and bit of veg and then I'm full like I ate a Thanksgiving meal. It has to be the best gift I have ever gotten and I'm the one who gave it to myself. (:

I still feel like I'm fat and unattractive to men so am planning on starting the dating process when I get to onederland.

  3. I hate it when food gets stuck with a passion. Last night I had a Bible Study group and for Snacks they had oreos with milk and Snyders mini pretzels. I did not have dinner before going so Stevie Sleeve was telling me he was hungry by growling and making me feel pain.

Once the study was over, I ran over to eat some pretzels since the Oreos were too high calorie for me. I ate one and then another while talking to someone so was not paying attention to my food. I then dunked an Oreo in milk and ate it since everyone else was and I wanted to belong. Someone came up to me and started talking about how much weight I loss. I was trying to talk back but suddenly felt like a frog was jammed in my throat and thick foam began streaming into my mouth. I excused myself and ran to the bathroom to belch over the toilet. I was sure that people must have heard me outside so felt so embarassed and miserable. I just kept on burping but still felt a lump stuck.

Then I tried to burp and I couldn't so a pressure started building until I wretched into the bowl. There wasn't any stomach acid since this food never went down there, just tasted like pretzels and Oreos with thick saliva foam. I had not had pretzels or Oreos since before my surgery so probably couldn't tolerate these dry carbs yet.

I can't eat hard vegetables like carrots or cauliflower, which I used to love, without them getting stuck either. I always have to eat my meat with sauce to lower the chance it will get stuck. I don't enjoy eating anymore at all because eating makes me feel pain and misery half the time.

  4. Because I don't enjoy eating anymore, I have noticed that shopping is what I keep craving. I now LOVE buying things online and keep checking slickdeals throughout the day. I also LOVE shopping in person because I can fit into smaller sizes at cool shops instead of being limited to plus size. I opened a Kohls credit card but been paying off the balance each month so I don't accumulate interest. Would it hurt my credit to close out my Avenue and Lane Bryant/Catherines cards?

I can't stop myself half the time from wanting to buy something. I've never been like this before the surgery since I would turn to food in order to feel happiness. I feel guilty about how much money I'm spending on clothing and accessories. I guess it is better than buying food since I would spend $500 a month just on eating out and $100 on groceries before surgery. :( Have you found another addiction?

  5. Yes it is hard watching people eat huge meals when you can only eat a few spoonfuls of food. What I do is request an appetizer or kid's meal and wait until everyone else has their food before I will start eating. I eat very slowly so by the time I am done, most have cleaned their plates! That's great your family is being so supportive and trying to make you feel comfortable about eating so little. I've eaten with people who made me feel strange that I couldn't eat as much as them!

  6. I didn't have any co-morbidities before surgery--I was just fat, and saw myself becoming fatter and fatter unless I did something to totally change my life. So glad I picked VSG.

Same here! By keeping on the weight I knew I'd have issues down the line. I would still be 300 lbs or more right now if I didn't have the surgery.
