    Labor And Delivery Gown

I got one of those Pretty Pushers gowns when I had my last baby, and it was much, much more comfortable than a hospital gown. Not sure how well it would work for this surgery, but it worked very well with the monitors, IV, and epidural tubing. I think I had a catheter, too - don't remember exactly because I only had the epidural for 3 hours before he was born.

    Hey July Sleevers!

Hi Amy! You have my dream job. I'm in nursing school right now, hoping to do L&D after I graduate. Good luck!

Didn't even notice that this thread was older. Hate when that happens! LOL Good luck tomorrow! (Well, today, seeing as it's after midnight!)

    Breastfeeding And The Sleeve

It's so awesome that your surgeon is supportive of you continuing to breastfeed. When I had my first consult, my son was 8 months and I was nursing almost exclusively. He told me that he wouldn't do the surgery until I weaned. I'd planned to wait for summer to do the surgery because of school, so I figured at least I'd get to a year. Well, at 10 months my son decided that all he wanted to do with my nipples was chew on them (he had 6 teeth!) and after almost a week of every feeding consisting of using me as a chew toy rather than actually drinking, I cut him off. I wish it hadn't stopped so early/abruptly, but I suppose it was a blessing in disguise since I don't have to worry about weaning for surgery now. Anyway, blah blah blah. LOL Good for you for sticking with it! I would echo the previous posters who recommended building as big a freezer stash as you can now - that way if your supply does go way down, you'll have milk for him for a while longer.

    Hey July Sleevers!

Mine is June 29th - I'm so not looking forward to it. At all.
  6. Not yet - 3 more weeks! I wish I could make time go by faster.

    sleevers in Chicago southland

I'm in Crystal Lake (Far NW), surgery at Centegra-Woodstock with Dr. Amir Heydari.
  8. My BMI is 46, and I have no comorbidities, not even slight ones. I had no problem getting approved the first time - my insurance is Anthem BCBS and I had a date 3 weeks after I submitted my paperwork. Didn't have to do a medically supervised diet either. I hope your process goes as smoothly!

    Tomatoes - Realistically?

I'm definitely planning to make lots of sauce, soups, etc... and I've read that you can freeze them.

    Hey July Sleevers!

I'm July 10th, in Woodstock IL with Dr. Heydari. My surgeon has the same pre-op program for everyone - regardless of surgery type, weight, etc... 10 days, choice of either Bariatrix or Carnation Breakfast Essentials shakes, unlimited sugar-free Clear liquids, up to 200 cal. of fruit/veg from a list per day.
  11. My date is July 10th too! I'm on Clear liquids for the first week, so I'd planned on a bunch of flavors of Crystal Light/Mio, sugar free popsicles/Jello, unjury chicken broth, and some of the Syntrax nectar fruity flavors. There are sample packs for the Unjury/Syntrax - I figured I'd get those instead of the big tubs at first.

My pre-op diet is for 10 days - 5 Carnation Breakfast Essentials shakes, unlimited sugar-free Clear liquids, and up to 200 cal/day of fruits/veg. The Carnation shakes are pretty good compared to other Protein shakes I've tried in the past.
