My Brother's Friend Didn't Know Who I Was .. Till
Something really really funny and cool happened to me this morning! Me and my brother were at a cafe talking and catching up on stuff and a few minutes later his friend (whom i know well but haven't seen for about a year) comes over and sits down. There were no introductions just "hi" and "hello" as my brother and i did not have a slightest doubt he would not recognise me!! So when i realised what had happened i chuckled and decided to see how long it would take for him to actually know who i was! Guess what? We talked for about an HOUR and he had no idea!! He thought i was a friend and not even related to my brother!! When we decided to leave my brother dropped the bomb and he was like.. " NO WAY! NO "*beep* WAY!!" I've never laughed so much and so hard! His reaction was so intense he just stood there staring at me for a minute. We ended up sitting for another hour discussing my surgery LOL. Just wanted to share this with you guys and hopefully lighten the mood of sleevers who feel a bit down for one reason or another Have a nice day all of you

Best Compliment That You've Gotten Since Your Weightloss Thus Far?
When i picked up my 5 year old and he said "Your back doesn't hurt you anymore!" He is refering to the times i used to pick him and i'd have to put him back down cuz of the pain i feel in my lower back. This might not be a compliment but it sticks to my mind like nothing else and this was one of the main reasons for having VSG. My wife and children are my life.

I Find The Operation Stupid
First of all i'd like to kindly ask everyone to calm down and lets discuss this issue seriously as many people can learn from it. If Hamanyq8 is a registered member then he has the right to post whatever he feels he needs to talk about whether we agree with him or not. I'm not defending him, i am like all of you who are genuinely trying to help him and others who might be facing the same issue. I think whats happening to Hamanyq8 has a lot to do with his psych. Being afraid to swallow is not uncommon among sleevers. Most of us know for a fact that VSG is a positive life changing procedure. However, some patients are faced or become aware with the down sides of the operation before actually experiencing the positive. Hamany has a new stomach and he has to understand this and accept it mentally first in order for his body to accept it too. The way i see it is that his brain is still in pre-op state while his stomach is post-op and for him to actually start his VSG journey correctly he needs to sync both organs to post op. Once this is achieved it will all be smooth sailing from there. I know a couple of friends who have undergone VSG and faced psychological difficulties have seeked professional help/ therapy and are now enjoying their new lives. My advice however is to first stick to a diet plan approved by your NUT and if the problem persists try therapy.

3 Months Stall?
Thats great Mina Pleasure to meet you. Believe me its not about me doing better than you or better than anyone else its just that each body deals with weight loss differently. What i strongly suggest you do is suprise your stomach/body every now and then by changing the type of food you eat (healthy food) and also change your workout routine regularly. What i am trying to say is "trick" and "shock" your body and you should get good, healthy results. What really works for me is a protien shake in the morning on my way to work and another shake before bed. Hope this helps.

3 Months Stall?
Thanks for the reply Kim. I have realised though that i lose weight faster if i keep switching food types. Will this work for the stall?

How Much Weight Loss The 1St Month?
I lost 37 pounds in my first month. Stalls are normal just switch the type of foods you eat, excercise and you will break the stall. The rule is that if you keep tricking your body you will keep losing the weight.
-
Constantly Having To Spit
Spit in the bathroom. Never had it but it should go away.

5 Days Post Op-Stomach Growling? Hunger Pangs?
Very, very normal. I'm about 2 and half months out and i used to have the same issue during my first week out of surgery. Just stick to your diet plan and ride it out and you will feel better i guarantee it. Its a new, weird feeling during the first 2 weeks your body is in shock and is trying to adjust to the new, or modified stomach. Good luck.

Ok Question About Calories

Super Saturday Weigh In
I weighed in this morning at 188 Surgey day: 247 Sleeved: 11/21/2011
-
Restriction & Amount Of Food Tolerated
Absolutely normal. You'll be able to get in more food in due course. However, my advice to you is to take it easy with what you can get into your stomach. If you cant then you cant, dont force food down. You will feel better after 3 months i promise you

6 Months Post Ops
Thank you everyone for replying and giving me and the readers your experience. Sleeve of Steel: I didn't mean to imply that i am craving for fast food or that i am thinking to eat it. It's just that i'm doing a study and i wanted to know how people who were addicted to fast food are coping after VSG at later stages and/or after they have reached their target weight. Likasulema: lool i figured as much. But its ok thanks for the reply The thing is i totally agree with DebiC she is spot on. Sleevers deal with their food intake differently some eat too much and some don't. Some can have sodas with no problems and others feel sick and so on. Its nice to read about other people's experiences and journeys and learn from them. Thanks again everyone

6 Months Post Ops
Hello everyone, My question is directed to those who have passed the 6 months mark since VSG. How much more food can you eat when you're at 6 months? Please compare to capacity at two months post op. Plus, after you have reached your target weight, do you eat fast food once in a while? if so, what can you eat and how much of it can you get in? Do you feel sick/bad after it? Cheers

How Many Carbs, Fat And Sugars Am I Limited To?
I'm about 6 weeks post op now and i lost a total of 41 pounds. During this period of weight loss i stayed away as much as possible from foods with high fat, carbs and sugar. How much of the above should i limit myself to in my daily diet? Thanks

Watching Other People Overeat Grosses Me Out. What Is With That?!
All the time. Like Fern said, we tend to chew our food slower and enjoy it more.

Swelling - How Long Does It Last?
Shouldn't take more than 4-6 weeks. It will go don't worry. Good luck.

Drinking Protein And Basically Eating Three Things
Im four weeks post op and i currently take in my protiens from cottage cheese, grilled chicken breast, grilled salmon, steak and grilled fish. I choose from a variety of healthy smoothies for Breakfast everyday. I try not to take in too much carbs though and foods that i stay away from are rice, Pasta, bread etc.. at least for the first 4-6 months postop. I'm good with skimmed milk, low fat yoghurt and mixed berries. Excersising everday, walk/jog for at least five miles does wonders for your health after the sleeve. Good luck.
