    Super Saturday Weigh In

I weighed in this morning at 188 Surgey day: 247 Sleeved: 11/21/2011
  2. Absolutely normal. You'll be able to get in more food in due course. However, my advice to you is to take it easy with what you can get into your stomach. If you cant then you cant, dont force food down. You will feel better after 3 months i promise you
  3. Hello everyone, My question is directed to those who have passed the 6 months mark since VSG. How much more food can you eat when you're at 6 months? Please compare to capacity at two months post op. Plus, after you have reached your target weight, do you eat fast food once in a while? if so, what can you eat and how much of it can you get in? Do you feel sick/bad after it? Cheers
  4. Thank you everyone for replying and giving me and the readers your experience. Sleeve of Steel: I didn't mean to imply that i am craving for fast food or that i am thinking to eat it. It's just that i'm doing a study and i wanted to know how people who were addicted to fast food are coping after VSG at later stages and/or after they have reached their target weight. Likasulema: lool i figured as much. But its ok thanks for the reply The thing is i totally agree with DebiC she is spot on. Sleevers deal with their food intake differently some eat too much and some don't. Some can have sodas with no problems and others feel sick and so on. Its nice to read about other people's experiences and journeys and learn from them. Thanks again everyone
  5. I'm about 6 weeks post op now and i lost a total of 41 pounds. During this period of weight loss i stayed away as much as possible from foods with high fat, carbs and sugar. How much of the above should i limit myself to in my daily diet? Thanks
  6. All the time. Like Fern said, we tend to chew our food slower and enjoy it more.
  7. Shouldn't take more than 4-6 weeks. It will go don't worry. Good luck.
  8. Im four weeks post op and i currently take in my protiens from cottage cheese, grilled chicken breast, grilled salmon, steak and grilled fish. I choose from a variety of healthy smoothies for Breakfast everyday. I try not to take in too much carbs though and foods that i stay away from are rice, Pasta, bread etc.. at least for the first 4-6 months postop. I'm good with skimmed milk, low fat yoghurt and mixed berries. Excersising everday, walk/jog for at least five miles does wonders for your health after the sleeve. Good luck.
  9. Dont pull out your drain its there for a reason and thats to get rid of the dirty unwanted fluids. My advice is that you be patient and get some pain killers, liquid tylenol is very good. I had two drains and had similar pain but i just rode it out. It only gets better, always remember that. Good luck

    Help!

Unfortenatley loose/excess comes with the package as a result of rapid weight loss. You can't avoid it but you sure can minimise it by doing simple workouts/excersises. However, the skin will not just magically snap back to its original preop state you will have to work hard to achieve this. There are no creams that i am aware of that reduce loose skin but since you are seven months postop i think your only option is to workout, at least walk/jog for 5 miles a day that should help a lot over a period of 12-18 months.
  11. Its been 4 weeks now since my sleeve and i remember my dr telling me when i left the hospital that for the first two weeks my walking excersice should increase gradually. In the first week i walked every hour for 5 - 10 mins to get rid of gases. The second week i started walking for about 15 - 20 mins once a day. Now i walk 5 miles everyday. It will only get better and better As for getting up from my sleep every four hours thats very strange never heard of it. In any case you really dont need to that. Good luck and remember, it only gets better.
  12. Hello everyone, its been 10 days since my VSG and im feeling great. I lost 8 kilograms (approx 20 pounds) in the first week but then my weight loss stopped for four days which is absolutley normal so dont panic! The numbers on your scale might have stopped, temporarily of course, but your inches wont they will drop and fast. I try on my old clothes to make sure! In regards to pain, I had the worst gas pain in the first couple of days and only found relief when i walked so for you new sleevers WALK WALK WALK thats the only way you'll feel better and will get some much needed excercise out of it too. liquid dieting is tough i know but you just need to be strong and outlast it! its really worth it! Don't worry the hunger pain will also fade away as each day passes. You might feel some discomfort when swallowing liquids in the clear liquid phase of your diet and thats because the opening of your stomach is still swollen but you should feel better in a couple of days. It will go away. Im in the full liquid diet phase now and believe me you will feel more like a normal person. Your energy will come back to you. I also can't wait to start going to the gym and work out! That will help a lot in avoiding excess "loose" skin. Im married to a beautiful woman and have two wonderful boys, the eldest is three years and a 7 months old baby. They mean the world to me. They were the reason behind my VSG. Life is short and i want to cherish everyday with my family. I want to play with my boys without feeling exhausted i want to be able to carry them for more than just 2 minutes and i want to jog with my wife every morning and VSG has given this chance. The VSG is a powerful tool but its still just a tool which means the rest is up to you. Stick to the diet program and walk and you will get there. Nausea, hunger pain, depression, missing food, lack of energy, feeling weak, light abdominal pain (bruising sensastion), back strain are ALL NORMAL post op symptoms of VSG. All of them fade away within the first 10 days to a month maximum. Good luck to all of you and best wishes. P.S You can email me with any questions and i will be more than happy to answer you in as much detail as i can.
  13. Not at all. Yes i had my operation in Kuwait. VSG is very popular here as with Gastric Bypass, Lap Band and Lap Balloon surgeries. Actually the first Lap Gastric Bypass surgery in the ME was performed in Kuwait in 2003 by my doctor Prof Jarallah, also the Misiter of Health 1999 - 2006. There are many ways to get financing, mainly through banks. For example a certain bank offers a " Health Loan " with very easy payments and with an interest rate of only 1%. You also get to pay your first installment in six months. Most medical insurance companies do not cover VSG unless the client has at least type 2 diabetes. Hope i answered your question.
  14. Sophia, go ahead and do the sleeve. It will be the best decision you'll ever make. Its 10 days now since my op and my stamina is just so high right now. I actually feel absolutley normal.
